I mean… the government doesn’t shut down the numbers stations. I can still pick up analog TV channels. I love all these fantasies in here about Jack booted thugs kicking down doors of people playing music on their transmitter. Yes, yes, very serious business. lol.

The only conversation more tiresome than a poker thread around here is a diet and exercise thread, but the competition is neck and neck.
Yes, yes, all of you are poker, chess, and diet masters.
Hooray.

Complete indifference to food and water that led to fainting and probable heat stroke. Extreme nausea. All mitigated now with medication and forced hydration. Not fun.

Re:Delivery Drivers Got Higher Wages. Now They're Getting Fewer Orders
on Sunday June 30, 2024 @09:02PM (#40841694)
I don’t mind a $5 fee, but it’s the markup above regular menu prices that generally kills it. I also had multiple issues with incomplete DoorDash deliveries. I doubt the drivers were stealing food, but the restaurants obviously thought they could get away with theft and not be penalized. It was ALWAYS the most expensive entree missing. Had to get into credit card disputes with DoorDash more than once before they were banned from our household. Oddly never once had the issue with Uber Eats.
That being said, the in restaurant experience sure as hell isn’t what it used to be, either. Rarely bother with a sit down place anymore.
Grocery delivery seems to be a winner, though. Costs about $20 more and I don’t have to spend two hours dealing with it? Count me in.

Yes, the talent quickly falls off a cliff once you get into weird, niche sports. Remember this when the Olympics roll around. If the truly gifted set themselves towards many of those events, the records would be obliterated.

Made a “lot” of money (for a teenager) installing cd rom drives into computers in the 90s. The article isn’t lying - everyone I knew was buying them circa 1994 with no idea how to install them. I remember the first high speed one I installed… vibrated the entire desk. Now I’m buying them for $12 shipped off eBay and using usb to power them. Only purpose is burnt games for old consoles.

I used to buy it over the counter in Mexico for recreational purposes, now I have some ancient prescription I don’t need that’s renewed annually for free. A stiff breeze will work, it’s actually remarkable. It will totally make your skin flush and make you feel light headed, not surprised by any of this.
