"we've had to ask you this sort of thing a ton of times. Eventually we ban such accounts"

No you haven't. What's wrong with calling out bad products for what they are?

I find it amazing that anyone uses it in the business world. Next up HR will be adding tarrot cards and oiji boards

Then again I find it amazing that anyone uses it at all. It's complete trash

Rackspace was always overpriced garbage
Most American companies don't though. They can safely ignore european laws
If they don't do business there they don't have to comply. Making it available doesn't count

Just like I don't have to comply if I have EU users on a service, I am in the united stated. europe cannot enforce their laws here. It's just the same as if saudia arabia tried to enforce their laws here. They carry no wait

That is what makes the GDPR insignificant. It applies to Europe. Not the rest of the world. The cookie warnings for the vast majority of the internet are stupid an unnecessary

So call it illegal in europe but who cares?

It honestly is maddening how many people care about the GDPR that don't need to

They are in california. They can give the finger to the gpdr. It's irrelevant to most people in the world

People tend to forget that it is not applicable. For instance nothing I build will ever comply to it regardless of users that might be in europe

Clubhouse has no duty to obey european law

The question is: why do you think the need to be compliant?

Data poisoning needs to become a standard practice. Make the "valuable" ad data useless
Do you really believe that?
Why isn't there more effort to subvert tracking vs trying to block it. Ruin the data and they can collect as much as they want
I'm guessing if facebook outright killed the app and blame it on apple. Facebook would do far better than apple would
The SEC has caught up to 2001, yay
Re:Anime is booming, so why are animators living in poverty? on Friday February 26, 2021 @06:01PM (#26280867)
It has a low talent barrier and a flooded job market

There really isn't much to say

Nothing, we don't replace it because we don't need it

It's a tremendous waste of money

Re:Coinbase S-1 on Thursday February 25, 2021 @01:42PM (#26266436)
There is no "we". I started using it because I can recklessly trade it. I see no utility in the current expensive implemention

I don't care if it is centralized or not

The media is known to exaggerate things without bothering to understand the issue

I completely get why he put that there

An excessively over powered military with a bloated budget can definitely use some crumbling
Shouldn't that be considered a badge of credibility?

Yes people can make fakes, welcome to thousands of years ago

It is their job to design their own email templates as they see fit

The customer doesn't get a say in the matter

The US air force didnt need a new airframe
No it's just yet another piece of coverage in the decade long coverage of russia hacking everything

Will it be as terrible as their job listing service they already have?
> Personality and behavior assessments. Automate everything. chatbots to save recruiting.

Literally every one of those things I would dismiss a company for using.

During my last job search I even politely called out a couple of companies for using them. I did get a nice response that could be summed up as: "yeah we figured someone would say they are bullshit and we agree"

I did get interviews with those companies but declined

It's not like having a bad date, it's them fucking up even asking you out on a date

Now not politely I would say that assessments and personality tests and all the other BS thrown an applicants way are stupid, easily game, a downright waste of everyones time and give an immediate indicator the company sucks. The person that thought it was a good idea at the company should be replaced.

Ideally candidates should be able to toss an assessment back to the person doing the hiring to take on the companies behalf

What's good for the goose after all

I've never bought the argument about kidnappings etc, with billions of dollars you can hire people with lots of guns
So pay someone else to use google?
Re:Kodi 19.0 on Monday February 22, 2021 @02:35PM (#26229389)
Have fun in court on that one

It is extremely definitive you will lose because it is copy right infringement

Fair use doesnt apply to illegally downloading a vid torrent because your copy is in the mail. That is clear cut

Re:Kodi 19.0 on Sunday February 21, 2021 @05:18PM (#26217842)
That's not legally shady, that is just plain illegal

Now personally I dont pay attention or care about copyright infringement. I commit plenty myself and gave done so for decades. I also pay plenty on services and such for content

I'll continue to commit copyright infring and purchasing media. But I am not going to pretend it's just legally shady, it's illegal, I know it and just don't care

Re:Nvidia Limits RTX 3060 Hash Rate on Sunday February 21, 2021 @09:30AM (#26213661)
I thought this was long ago disproven. That at very early stages yes breakeven or small loss happens. But rapidly becomes mildly profitable per unit

Re:What LinkedIn Is Becoming on Saturday February 20, 2021 @04:51PM (#26208319)
Every few years I take a look at it and update my profile. But I've realized just how truly useless and dumb it is. This time I just deleted all content and replaced it with a picture of my cat

There is no value of utility for that platform. It's an HR circle jerk, shitty recruiters and a terrible listing of jobs

Re:Facebook reported fake numbers to advertisers on Saturday February 20, 2021 @04:48PM (#26208289)
That's called fraud. People should be arrested
