Re:DNS: A Replacement for Finger on Friday October 23, 2026 @10:16PM (#50217805)
Seems like I get served gibberish bytes in the response body when visiting this site! I promise I’m not a bot :(
Re:Gemini 4 Argon on Tuesday October 13, 2026 @04:47PM (#50078494)
Maybe they could ask Gemini to fix their awful website to not crash on my phone!
Re:Saving another 100TB of RAM with math (and Rust) on Friday September 18, 2026 @06:23PM (#49761051)
I definitely enjoyed this writing style more than a lot of the recent cf blog posts. Cool article!
Re:Making difficulty curves in games on Friday August 14, 2026 @03:02AM (#49295510)
Makes me think of a game like FTL, where “easy” was challenging for quite some time, and now I play normal if I want a challenge!
Really cool, shame that strings can’t be fully indistinguishable like Integer despite their immutability
Re:A Compiler Writing Journey on Tuesday March 24, 2026 @11:21PM (#47512852)
Very cool! I can’t imagine writing everything in C, I’m currently learning this in OCaml which seems nicer for a project like this.
Interesting story but the AI makes it irritating to read
First time I’ve seen my university mentioned online and it’s the wrong country!
Re:Ki Editor - an editor that operates on the AST on Saturday March 07, 2026 @08:31AM (#47287483)
This has got to be my favourite feature of IntelliJ, along with the dumb context actions menu
I sunk the ball, but the game didn’t end so I happily hit it back out of the hole!! Pretty fun though
I haven’t tried this app yet, but my attempts at speaking to ChatGPT in Spanish were pretty dull. Almost every sentence the model replied with “Claro!” and tended to repeat itself often
Re:During Helene, I just wanted a plain text website on Sunday January 04, 2026 @11:00PM (#46495222)
Reading this on airline wifi right now makes me realise just how unusable some stuff becomes with choppy internet. E.g. I can’t change settings on the LinkedIn app because the request to load the settings page fails :/.
Re:Jony Ive's OpenAI Device Barred from Using 'Io' Name on Saturday December 06, 2025 @12:50AM (#46171055)
I remember someone saying it looks like a pregnancy announcement, and that’s what I think of every time I see it
Re:CornHub on Thursday November 20, 2025 @04:19AM (#45990686)
Opening this on the class laptop at school was always fun
Re:How to Get a North Korea / Antarctica VPS on Thursday November 13, 2025 @11:49PM (#45923959)
> Now test your VPS’s IPv4 geolocation using Cloudflare’s /cdn-cgi/trace endpoint (available on any site behind CF)

Interesting, this really does seem to work on any site behind CF. Are there any other endpoints like this?

Reminds me of Foqos, which is definitely one of my favourite apps
Re:Rating 26 years of Java changes on Saturday October 11, 2025 @07:05PM (#45553476)
I can’t believe lambdas got a 4/10! I’m a student so maybe my opinion will change when I work on “real” code but I really like their conciseness
Re:iPhone dumbphone on Monday September 08, 2025 @05:43PM (#45174422)
Can’t you click the “ignore limit” button when trying to open a restricted app though?
I agree, I’ve definitely had a lot of “ahh, that’s why it does that/works that way in Java” when learning C
I’ve in university and the classes have been almost exclusively taught in Java. Learning C/C++ definitely felt like a step backwards, as there’s more you have to implement yourself instead of using the standard library. With that said, I think I learnt a lot more about how systems work under the hood by learning C, so perhaps it’s not as good for learning programming concepts IMO
Safari on ios really hates this, all 3 demos crash upon loading lol
Great stuff lol
I used these frequently during an old job, it was always concerning how the sponge slowly disappeared as you scrubbed with it
Re:Happy New Year HN on Tuesday December 31, 2024 @06:14AM (#42558010)
Happy new years from a fellow kiwi! I hope everyone’s spent it in good company :)
Re:What were the best books you read this year? on Thursday November 28, 2024 @05:38PM (#42269065)
I found “Surely You're Joking, Mr. Feynman!" - Autobiography about Richard Feynman very interesting
