It’s great to see the Rasterman himself still doing releases after all these years! Legend!
I haven't used it but it looks more like a UAD Luna clone. Which of course is also another DAW so basically same thing.
I think there are many reasons to use Safari (in fact, it's my de facto personal browser) but I feel that being faster is not one of them.
What baffles me is people having the stock macOS apps in the Dock without taking the time to at least remove what they don't use. I think this goes to show that for most people they don't even notice the Dock is there.
The only terrible thing is the food they're having.
While I mostly agree with DHH's take on this particular technological cycle, this is a very well thought out criticism.
Even the concept of "framework" as we knew it becomes different in this age. If you only want reusability, why not use plain good old libraries and let the AI assemble them as needed for your project?
Spaniard here, it's interesting that I haven't noticed any disruption with archive.is in the last weeks. Just checked today and though that it might be iCloud relay, but i don't have it enabled. I'm only using Google's DNS and am too lazy to try with my ISP ones.
Compare this to the absolute mayhem with the soccer matches blocking that will bring down an inordinate amount of legitimate sites during a match.
Not sure what are the technical measures they are deploying in one case or the other but I suspect that when Telefonica is involved they bring the big guns.
For 2, I just keep these little thingies that come with the sliced bread bags. Of course that requires a little thingies box.
I have decided to not keep many cables. USB thingies, DVIs, VGAs, audio... you can get it from Amazon in pinch with same day delivery and I don't have that much space to spare.
But you can pry my Palm data cables from my cold, dead hands.
> the models are also just not for me as a software engineer (...) these models increasingly are for other people. For lawyers, 3D artists, mathematicians
This is a good observation, perhaps AI will not completely replace humans ins software engineering because by the time it has the capability to do so like in write a prompt and get a CRM coded for you, tokens are so expensive that you are better off spending them to substitute other disciplines (what about automating the work of the customers that would become records in that CRM?).
Well I think the challenge is in the challenge itself, that's good old open-source at work and I wish both the Asahi and Omarchy teams the best of luck in this endeavor.
But I agree with you that if I wanted to run Linux, I would get non-Apple hardware, will probably get better support and spend less time fixing things. The interesting thing would be having proper full M* support in Linux as this would allow for more efficient virtualization as a guest.
The euro payment scenario has changed drastically in the last few years and it's a good thing for customers: yesterday I was able to pay a US company with Bizum through Stripe.
Well it's currently down. Not down as in displaying a whale, down as in "Safari can't open the page twitter.now because Safari can't find the server app.twitter.now"
Last year I was able to justify a 128GB/1TB M4 Max Studio for 4600€. This cycle's M5 Max with 128GB/1TB goes for 6219€. The M5 has to be obviously a better machine, but it's now above the price point I would pull the trigger for. Guess I got lucky in the futureproofing lottery this time, anyway.
My contempt consumption is reading feeds, books and sheet music, and some casual games...
... and a lot more social media I'd like to admit.
As a long time Emacs user, I beg to differ. Muscle memory will settle in after a few days. I still use Emacs shortcuts to navigate text boxes on macOS.
The most disruptive thing in Omarchy is not the keyboard, it's the tiling WM in my opinion.
It's a region of space from where not even light can scape.
You can get a region like that by squashing a lot of mass in a small space, like happens when a star collapses under its own gravity. So here the intuition of "high density" makes sense.
But at the center of galaxies you have the so called "supermassive black holes" which are more or less comparable in size to the solar system and yes, they have a lot of mass but they are not very dense, a pop-sci trope is comparing it's density to cotton candy or even the air we're breathing right now.
So it's a matter of how you distribute mass/energy in a given diameter, not exactly of density.
YMMV, but when I got my iPad I realized that my "mobile" needs were only contempt consumption and my MBP was used as a desktop computer connected to a 32'' monitor. So every time I renewed my laptop the expensive screen went with it, and I had to pay for another one that I would be using as a second screen!
Thus, my current workhorse is a Studio.
I guess thermal throttling will inevitably kick in.
The video is not exactly comfortable to watch, but the sound is truly scary.
Guessing from the context, it has to be Adam Curry.
Fortunately Jon Udell is still pretty much alive and kicking.
Well it came to me that I could write that as an extension with Claude Code. And it's showing good progress.
The "per container" number of features that come to mind is never ending. For example, I'd love to have something like Safari's "Profile bookmarks" that allow you to set a different subset of your global bookmarks as the root of your bookmark bar per profile. This is insanely useful.
The TE reference is strong!
"Where we're going, we don't need eyes to see".
Being a Mac switcher since 2003 I am as much of a fanboy as anybody else but this quote from the article caught my attention, and smells like PR.
> Many AI tools are also Mac-first or Mac-only
I fail to recall AI tools Mac-only general purpose AI or agentic tools. Most of the claws, harnesses, studios and inference engines seem to be multiplatform. You can say you can run then in a Mac with a nicer UI wrapper or whatever, but "Mac-first" or "Mac-only"?
This. It's like you end up growing your own PAUSE button for the rest of your day and you can break your own fourth wall.
> I am a huge fan of Copilot CLI. It just feels so logical and low-friction to use compared to Claude Code.
Honest question, can you ellaborate? If given the option, I use OpenCode but what do you find in Copilot CLI that makes you prefer it to Claude Code?
