My impression is, that git is ok for managing shared history. And thats what i was using it for mostly. But jj added another whole dimension for managing my work in progress, different paths of code that i am working on in the moment. jj made it almost frictionless. I did not know I was missing it, but i'm not going back.
That is not what i meant when posting the poem.
When someone asks "Why is every western government not warning Pakistan...", he is basically rephrasing Kipling and asking to "Take up the White Man's burden".
This has been attempted before, didn't go so well. That might give a clue, why we are in the current state of affairs.
Send forth the best ye breed—
Go bind your sons to exile To serve your captives' need;
To wait in heavy harness On fluttered folk and wild—
Your new-caught, sullen peoples, Half devil and half child.
(...and six more verses)- Rudyard Kipling
The ecosystem is slowly fading away. Big industrial libs are still good, but a lot of smaller projects are abandonware, last updated in 18-19.
The cool kids moved on to Go, Rust, TS, Elixir etc.
I mean 180+ commits, 3 month old, bold claims and already 8 releases on rubygems?
There ought to be a vetting/voting process for packages, before they are accepted into a public repo and pollute the global namespace. Like in arch repo/AUR.
EDIT: (fungal aspect) seed it with the right spores for container shipping and you get some free penicillin upon delivery!
Well, that's the game, isn't it?
Btw, like some of your music. Do you have finished tracks online?
"Hakuin used to tell his pupils about an old woman who had a teashop, praising her understanding of Zen. The pupils refused to believe what he told them and would go to the teashop to find out for themselves.
Whenever the woman saw them coming she could tell at once whether they had come for tea or to look into her grasp of Zen. In the former case, she would serve them graciously. In the latter, she would beckon to the pupils to come behind her screen. The instant they obeyed, she would strike them with a fire-poker.
Nine out of ten of them could not escape her beating."
It is a great metaphor. Nine out of ten applications of the tolerance paradox do not pass the fire poker test. One needs a certain level of enlightenment and maturity of judgement to apply it, otherwise it can turn into metooism, mob behavior and plain hypocrisy.
I have been entertaining the idea of writing a cookbook, that is not based on recipes, but defines some king of framework, describes the main criteria that you will use to judge the result and gives a definition and parameter range to the usual vague "cook until done", "salt, pepper to taste". Kind of Good Eats meets Naked Chef, but describes it all in OO, FP, C2 Wiki and Agile metaphors.
My Latin is quite rusty, its been a long time since i studied it. But from what i remember there were several flavors, which had slightly different grammar, orthography and vocabulary.
Wikipedia confirms this - there is at least classical Latin, church Latin, New Latin (16-19c), Contemporary Latin (19c onward). Hortus Malabaricus is written in New Latin.
It is Hortus Malabaricus, it is in latin and its not really ancient, it was published in late 17-th century.
I had no previous experience with imperial measurements, my country is metric for over a hundred years, but the majority of information on woodworking on the internet or in print comes from English speaking countries that use imperial units in woodworking almost exclusively. So instead of trying to translate everything to metric I bought an imperial tape measure and a set of rulers. Since then I switched most of my woodworking measurements to imperial, because it just very convenient and makes much more sense when building items that will be used by humans. Chairs, tables, cabinets, chests, even guitars.
Signal seems to have been around for ages. OTP even longer
I wonder why there are paid apps an NO, ZERO information on how to do it with a text editor, some copyaste and javac/xcode. Like DeCSS, from a more civilized age
Pick your adversaries and scale your opsec accordingly. Unless you are a person of interest in national security matters, just the fact that you communicated with somebody does not incriminate you.
The majority of telegram users want convenient messaging, group chats, news channels and voice group calls. Think slack with a fast native app.
unless you switch platforms. then you lose it all
Telegram is all about convenience, security is just bolt on. Everybody says they care about security, but hardly any TG user does it, because it is inconvenient. Install it on any any new device, confirm your phone number with an sms and whoops, all your chats and drunk and stoned pics are back.

If a big part of the nominations is obviously politically motivated, should the others get the tea or the poker?
If you dilute a brand name with controversial actions or products, it drags the whole brand down. And it does not matter of parts of it are still good.
At one point the hard drive failed and the PC booted into basic from ROM.
