You don't need to extend the preprocessor to have MAP: https://github.com/swansontec/map-macro
Re:ETH-68: Ethernet Audio Interface for Linux on Friday October 09, 2026 @02:53AM (#50016962)
Unless audio is sampled at ETH-68 clock this won't work for long periods. Except if you are tuning a loop continuously doing continuous resampling using a Farrow filter for example.

Or -ftrapv depending on usage, both converting UB to IB. Generally letting a number overflowing and wrapping around is opening the door to let in the bad things creeping in the shadow.
The classic Alone in the Dark I gives you "infinite" health points via integer (16-bit) underflow due to a bit of negligience. Once you get the poison, just drink it. And during the animation just drink it again. And again. And again...
Re:AI cancer cures slowed by chip shortage, says Arm boss on Tuesday September 08, 2026 @03:10AM (#49606608)
Bit we have AGI at home on existing hardware. Why not tell the AGI to cure cancer? Or if it'd not able to, why don't just build a cancer-curing AI instead of AGI on the existing hardware?

This was my point too, but related to LZMA(2?) / xz, as the exact parameters were not specified while it supports setting compression level up to -9e, and the dictionary size can be controlled directly as well (in addition to quite a lot of fine-tuning knobs), increasing it up to 1536 MiB.

Had experienced grenade fishing in person on the Vjosa in Albania. Was kayaking when a 20-30(-40?) meters high water column appeared about 300 meters in front of me, accompanied by a big bang. Not cool.
Not just corn. Farmers would grow more corn in place of other plants reducing the supply, and shorter supply generally means higher prices, This is happening in India right now.
Fingerprinting cannot be resisted. There are a zillion techniques to get bits of information which can provide a unique-ish identifier when combined. The only protection is to mix in some random data in all these bits to get a very unique combination that changes on each request. But this only works if at the same time cookie and local storage access is disabled for all sites and whitelisted per site:target combination.

Re:Git rebase -I is not that scary on Sunday July 26, 2026 @12:43AM (#49054803)
Why isn't the 'edit' command mentioned? It's one of the most useful features. It can be used for splitting commits, for example. Mark the commit you want to split to be edited. The commit replay is going to stop after that commit. Now:

  git reset HEAD^1 (NO --hard!)
  git commit --patch ...
  git rebase --continue
You want to add some pending changes to the previous commit? No problem:

  git commit --patch --amend ...
You want to move the pending changes to future commits?

  git stash
  git rebase --continue
  git stash pop
It looks like this could be made from any metal, where the small segments are connected together like links of a chain.
There are other unordinary methods to "reboot" body parts to treat malfunction, for example, some eye conditions can be treated by injecting a sedative into the eyes: https://news.mit.edu/2025/how-vision-can-be-rebooted-in-adul...
The future is to replace the Si base with something else. Silicon Carbide has higher thermal conductivity. Bismuth-based composites provide much higher frequency.

Re:Ported my C game to WASM, here's everybug that I hit on Tuesday June 16, 2026 @02:14PM (#48559555)
Besides ActiveX, old (<9) Internet Explorer supported VML (Vector Markup Language), which was neither supported by anything else, nor widespread. It could be made dynamic with the help of JavaScript, and the only dynamic example I could remember was an analog clock.
You could put it back into old salt mines.
Re:NPM packages from Red Hat have been compromised on Monday June 01, 2026 @11:52AM (#48358523)
So do the pre- and post-install scripts of Debian packages. The problem is not this but the lack of verified and controlled release channel.

It does not matter. Who's gonna stop them adding a new backdoor in a later Windows Update(TM) ? T this point they are not to be trusted at all.
