19 YOE designing, testing, building, operating, and automating ISP and carrier networks. From tiny 3 PoP mini ISP networks, to thousands of PoPs and tens of thousands of devices, and multi-continent global routing. I’ve worked in roles from engineering, to architecture, to product design. I’m an active participant in the global networking community; I attend and speak at conferences, engage in the IETF, and help to organise events. My spare time projects were in C, now I’m learning Rust, but the day job is all Python. I’d like to stay in the carrier/ISP space. I've most recently been working on network architecture, BGP analysis, and product development, but I love all areas of networking. The last email address I posted here became overrun with spam, hence the obfuscation. Happy to talk via email or video call, drop an email to: "wwtbh", then the at symbol follows, after that comes “pm.me”.

19 YOE designing, testing, building, operating, and automating networks. From tiny 3 PoP mini ISP networks, to thousands of PoPs and tens of thousands of devices, and multi-continent global routing; I’ve worked on a wide range of networks over the years. I attend and speak at conferences, engage in the IETF, and help to organise industry events.Back in the days the automation side was all Perl/BASH/Expect, for the last 5 years it’s been all Python and Ansible. My spare time projects were in C, now I’m using Rust.
I’ve most recently been working on network architecture, BGP analysis, and product development, but I love all areas of networking. My current role requires that I be pulled in to help fighting operational fires almost constantly with no sign of improving, despite my efforts to improve things, I’m not adding value here any more so time to move on.
