Re:X/Twitter Is Down on Tuesday November 03, 2026 @12:11AM (#50348338)
Must be because of the Midterms and people posting about it too much?
They tried that after the Ferguson Riots and caught the wrong people. AI Face ID is faulty because some people look alike, which is why rioters now wear masks.
Re:Are We All Too Cynical for Star Trek? on Sunday November 01, 2026 @03:46PM (#50329686)
Star Trek's Federation is still possible, but we must overcome our dislike for each other and work as a team.
It sounds good; most agents eat up a lot of RAM.
Re:Patrick Stewart has died on Thursday October 29, 2026 @04:07PM (#50295046)
RIP Patrick Stewart, he will always be Picard and Xavier to me.
Re:Building an AI Predictive Stock Algorithm on Wednesday October 28, 2026 @02:05AM (#50269792)
I was going to do a project like that, and I wanted to call it Frankenstock.
Re:The importance of taking effective microbreaks at work on Tuesday October 27, 2026 @04:10PM (#50265092)
When I hit some stress from coworkers or management, or get stuck in programming, I take a 15-minute break for a soda and chips. Helps clear my mind to take a walk and get something to drink and eat from the vending machines.
Re:Software is slow because of bad design, not slow languages on Tuesday October 27, 2026 @04:08PM (#50265064)
I used to program in Classic Visual Basic, which was considered slow by many. I optimized the code and used ADO ReadOnly when I didn't write data but only read it. What used to take 15 minutes took 15 seconds in Crystal Reports and other tools.
Free cartoon characters like Tux can be used in videos, images, and video games.
Just a few (pardon the pun) Bad Apples, that Applecare can fix or replace.
You mean like using Disney characters without permission in AI art and videos?
AI content cannot be copyrighted; it goes from the case where a monkey stole a camera and took a selfie.
Finally, 16-bit Windows support for 64-bit Windows.
There was no copyright on ANSI Art; people screen-captured it and used The Draw or another ANSI editor to modify it.
Re:Iran threatens to cut Hormuz internet cables on Saturday October 24, 2026 @07:50PM (#50226700)
Yes, it would.
Re:Iran threatens to cut Hormuz internet cables on Thursday October 22, 2026 @12:03AM (#50191056)
That would be a very unpopular move if they do. It will make surrounding countries mad that they can't get the Internet.
Re:ReactOS reaches major milestone with NTFS install support on Wednesday October 21, 2026 @03:31AM (#50177240)
Good for them. ReactOS is evolving into a nice Windows alternative.

Good video, but the Callsitter repository returns a 404.
Re:Does code quality still matter when AI writes the code? on Saturday October 17, 2026 @07:41PM (#50136258)
When I worked in a law firm as a programmer analyst, I would comment and document my code as well as work with QA for zero defects using a Japanese quality management system of continual improvement. Does the AI follow that? Does it work as a team?
Innocent until proven guilty, but the evidence points to his guilt. I wonder if he wanted to sell the information to another AI company or a Middle Eastern nation.
In Chrome, the click-to-play title doesn't go away, and the screen is dark, so I can't see anything. My copy of CS from Steam doesn't do that.
BeOS forever! I wonder what would have happened if Apple had chosen BeOS instead of Next?
The corporate BS is propaganda to control you. You should read the Dilbert comic strip sometime.
There are emulators for the PC, Mac, and GNU/Linux: https://www.tweaktown.com/news/114005/anyps5-now-translates-... https://bolxemu.net/

Who needs the original when you have an emulator? Microsoft and Sony can still sell games for the emulators.

Imagine if people use AI to get VISAs. My wife and I filled out Visa forms for her two sisters in Thailand in 2007, and we are still waiting for approval.

Re:Atari Falcon on Friday October 09, 2026 @07:32PM (#50027887)
The Atari Falcon was an awesome GEM-based computer. It paired with the Amiga 3000.
Re:Amazon phasing out Fire Tablets on Thursday October 08, 2026 @07:05PM (#50013682)
But you can install the Google Play Store on a Fire Tablet. This is the hack: https://www.androidpolice.com/install-play-store-amazon-fire...
This is unacceptable. I have schizoaffective disorder and am cognitively impaired, and I usually ignore ads. I don't have a lot of money, but I could lose my house if I am scammed. So I have to be careful.
