Seems like undesirable behavior given this thread?

Every article isn't AI written. If it is AI written, it is worth calling it out to save others time.
I'm so confused by how many people implicitly believe everything an LLM spits out. I don't like the term "AI psychosis" that much but what else do we call it? Why are people so easily glamoured by a machine? Yesterday I was working on a bike's brakes I wasn't familiar with and I asked how to solve an issue, the result was the exact opposite of what I needed.
Optimistically I think Altman and Amodei are willing to say literally anything to further their interests. Which is a different problem than stupidity, if it applies.
Being pro-slavery of conscious beings in 2026 is absolutely wild.
It's really confusing because I don't think it takes more than a basic understanding of how an LLM works to realize it's not conscious. E.g. 'memory' is just context window stuffing. How does Anthropic not get that?
Take a scenario where someone has been brainwashed their entire lives to be a willing slave. They are happy to serve due to this invasive process. Not remotely ethical, and if you believe LLMs are conscious (I do not), equivalent.
Re:Seattle Bans Rental Junk Fees on Monday September 21, 2026 @03:40PM (#49792287)
I don't think I can have a conversation about this if you don't understand the concept of "junk fees."
Re:Seattle Bans Rental Junk Fees on Monday September 21, 2026 @02:03PM (#49790928)
Pet rent seldom has anything to do with damage. If you pay pet rent, and then move out and the property manager finds damage, they make you pay for the damage out of your deposit anyway.

The last place I rented had pet rent AND a deposit. The rent definitely a junk fee. It did not accumulate or get tracked.

Re:Senior Engineers Are the Next DRAM Shortage on Friday September 18, 2026 @05:09PM (#49760296)
Because I don't care what a machine "thinks" I care what a real human thinks. We are losing the internet's remaining culture by consuming this type of content.
This is pure whataboutism.
Re:Why is Google still serving dodgy ads? on Sunday September 13, 2026 @03:31PM (#49687772)
Don't they? Kalshi, crypto stuff, sports betting, random products that lie about what they do.
The robotaxi companies could stop this easily if they wanted to.

Paul Allen did not structure the financials for it to succeed, which is unfortunate. I got to go there once and it was amazing.

I hope you are right
Re:The Internet Is Kind of a Predatory Cesspit Now on Saturday August 29, 2026 @02:54PM (#49492300)
My feeling is that the current state of the internet is just exposing how humans behave normally, the guardrails have just fallen away. Everyone is immune to shame, the threat of consequences etc. You see this in real life on the streets too.
Re:Humanity has the debate about AI consciousness backwards on Thursday August 27, 2026 @03:51PM (#49470278)
"The ownership class is so smart" is just ownership class propaganda. Wielding power is brutish, not smart. They keep selling us innovation as some transcendent tech that will free the masses (Arab Spring anyone?) yet every time the tech ends up shifting power up. AI will be the same.
Re:Humanity has the debate about AI consciousness backwards on Thursday August 27, 2026 @03:48PM (#49470234)
The human model of tribalistic leadership (the biggest, loudest, most confident patriarch is chosen to lead) is definitely outdated by 10,000 years or more. AI could disrupt that but I'm not sure how much better it will be, given it's a text generator.
Re:Humanity has the debate about AI consciousness backwards on Thursday August 27, 2026 @02:00PM (#49468774)
We've been so primed by popular media to think that we will invent AI and it will be conscious and we will essentially enslave it. I'm open to the idea that we could invent conscious AI eventually, but the word salad generators we have now are definitely not it.
There probably will be a step beyond "LLM writes code" though.
Re:Feature Request: Support AGENTS.md on Thursday August 20, 2026 @02:45AM (#49371233)
Well ya, but they have written posts to mods explaining that their long term goal is to limit scraping.
Re:Feature Request: Support AGENTS.md on Wednesday August 19, 2026 @11:28PM (#49370058)
They are trying to stop scraping, I guess.
Re:Cursor launches Origin, GitHub alternative on Monday August 17, 2026 @05:52PM (#49338194)
True, but people risk their lives by using his vehicles every day, why not YOLO their code too?
Re:AI is removing the middle class of software engineering on Thursday August 13, 2026 @12:41AM (#49281860)
True, and the explanations about "solving big problems" are each engineer's personal brand and justification for having a job. I'm sure some of those people exist, but they probably aren't the ones doing it rote on forums.
Attempt to re-read what I wrote.
>it's one of the only north Seattle neighborhoods vaguely affordable to buy in

Most north Seattle neighborhoods north of Ballard are more affordable to buy in than Ballard. Exceptions being North Beach / Blue Ridge, Windermere, Laurelhurst and similar.

Re:NotebookLM is now Gemini Notebook on Thursday July 16, 2026 @03:04PM (#48938820)
I should have said replace.
Re:NotebookLM is now Gemini Notebook on Thursday July 16, 2026 @02:42PM (#48938488)
But they renamed Gemini CLI to Antigravity CLI. And it's worse.
