Turnstile seems up still.
I am getting the 500 error with two of my Webflow sites, but the blog section only. One example URL: https://www.stockbrief.com.au/blog/welcome-to-stock-brief
Re:Ask HN: How to remove voice from a music file? on Wednesday October 30, 2019 @07:26PM (#21404129)
I spent some time researching this (albeit in 2014) for my wife. Heres the best solution I could come up with at the time: https://ojm.co/blog/using-audacity-remove-vocals-audio-free/
Don’t think changing between cars, buses, trains or boats at speed will make me stop using plains (sp).

But then again, crossing the Pacific or getting anywhere in the world from Australia requires some serious distance, unlike many European flights.

Can UpWork stick with a pricing model and not change it so frequently?

With the new pricing model, $30 per job and 3% paid by the employer, and 20% paid by the contractor. For a small $100 quick job bit of work, UpWork will take a quiet 53%.

It’s not actually the queens birthday.

In Australia, many states have different dates for the queens birthday.

So not a nightmare at all.

In Australia , pregnant women are told not to take ibuprofen unless told by doctor. Paracetamol Is the pain killer suggested, and only if really required.
Re:Ask HN: Where to look for junior level remote positions? on Thursday December 27, 2018 @04:39AM (#18768539)
We just had one of our remote developers resign yesterday (moving into a new exciting role), so are looking to hire. Drop me an email.
Re:Ryanair strike hits 55,000 customers across Europe on Friday August 10, 2018 @08:40AM (#17732715)
Agree. Now I have to do research to see who is being unreasonable. The employees or the employer. Be much easier if the article gave a summary of the issues.
I use a world clock with the cities I communicate with frequently added.

But then again, being in Australia, and most business being done in the US, Europe and Asia, you’re not going to memorise all the time zones.

Should Dropbox and other cloud storage vendors also be shut down by the FBI?
MailerLite. Found it much easier to build an email welcome series automation sequence compared to Mailchimp. And it is free for 1,000 active subscribers.
Re:Uber’s New Rival in Australia: An Indian Upstart on Monday March 19, 2018 @06:09PM (#16623714)
It’s nice to get some competition for Uber.

In Melbourne we now have Taxify, Uber and GoCatch.

A forth in the mix would be great.

Or more people no longer want to pay in cash so their sales go down dramatically.

Avoiding tax on no or low income is a lot worse than paying tax on larger profits via electronic payments.

> Australians generally carry little to no cash around

I haven’t had cash in my wallet for a few weeks now. Apple Pay or PayPass/Wave for even small amounts is fine.

They just simply lose my business now if they don’t take card. And lots of the population is moving this way.

The old cash only to avoid taxes is only good if you actually make a decent income to avoid said taxes.

Re:Tesla’s Dangerous Sprint into the Future on Tuesday November 07, 2017 @05:35PM (#15648326)
Yep. They talk “lean” and want to implement. But talking and wanting is not doing.
Re:Tesla’s Dangerous Sprint into the Future on Tuesday November 07, 2017 @05:33PM (#15648315)
Working at an American car manufacturer and a major parts manufacturer.

They think they are lean but they are not. Many inefficiencies and waste.

Re:Tesla’s Dangerous Sprint into the Future on Tuesday November 07, 2017 @02:07PM (#15646438)
It’s a bit of a flamboyant way to say we want to move our parts as little as possible.

But that is a massive difference from traditional manufacturing and many assembly plants.

So it is an insight in terms of Tesla manufacturing philosophy.

Reminds me of some other automotive companies when a new car is launched..

You get less inches than cm. Less miles than km.

Not so free after all!

Am I the only one who thinks it is ridiculous that a re-arranged dial pad can be patented?
Free health care in Melbourne too!
Guess they realised they will need meat based drivers a bit longer now that their autonomous division is in strife.

Long live www.
Did the prices rise by 25% in GBP or not?
Sometimes you can get a good deal on international business class.

I recently picked up a business class seat from Australia to LA for 4x the economy price.

Well worth it for the short trip and being able to get some sleep and work done in air.

Re:Airbnb expands to experiences on Thursday November 17, 2016 @08:16PM (#12983491)
Wonder if this new app will work any better than the current garbage iOS app which is essentially unusable.

Have to resort to mobile site (which is fine), and continue to be heckled to switch to the app.
