EU politics truly are the masterclass in idiotism.
Re: on Wednesday May 24, 2023 @07:35AM (#36056575)
I don't understand the hate.

The guy is experimenting on himself to see how he can improve his health. What is wrong with that?

People eating junk like chips and coke getting triggered because I guy wants to better himself: humans, truly I tell you.

Re:Reasons Not to Become Famous on Sunday May 21, 2023 @06:05AM (#36019432)
Rich and annoynimous is the way to go.
Re:Reasons Not to Become Famous on Sunday May 21, 2023 @06:03AM (#36019420)
He states it clearly in the article: because many women will use the law against to you try an extort money from you. It's well known that the court is heavily biased towards women in any "man vs women" case.
House and food should be treated completely differently then other non-essential goods like entertainment and electronics.

Destroy housing -> destroy people's future and family creation.

Air b&b is cancer for people trying to start families as it destroys all local affordable housing.

Re:Fuck Being Productive on Thursday May 11, 2023 @05:10AM (#35899685)
This guy has everything backwards: he doesn't realize it's his insane long wageslave work hours that are the problem, not those extra 3 hours.
Re:Visual Studio UI Refresh on Thursday May 11, 2023 @05:06AM (#35899652)
Was the Mac team in charge of this again?

We are developers, not mobile casual users: I want the most tools in the smallest amount of space.

I don't wan't 500 pixels of damn padding between menu items.

Big companies panicking because they sense they could be totaly distrupted by incredible new technology.
If the gov't will be in charge of it then it will be shit as all government services are in general.

If there is no profit in it for someone the platform won't improve.

It's the classic "the capitalist owns a restaurant vs the people own a restaurant, but which has better food".

Re:We need female mice in neuroscience research on Wednesday April 26, 2023 @07:27AM (#35712037)
Since mice are not humans the gender of the mice might be irrelevant.

So much nutritional studies have been done on animals and yet we know that different animals react totaly different to eg saturated fats and atherosclerosis.

Animals are a garbage proxy for anything human related.

(Skimmed it quickly)

>> We conclude with recommendations that professional societies in mathematics should sponsor an (international) code of ethics, institutional mission statements for mathematicians and syllabuses for incorporation into mathematics degrees.

Gotta put that subjectivity in mathematics.

Mathematics, as the purest of sciences, cannot have ethics in it. Ethics are a human invention: the laws of the universe have no ethics. They simple "are".

"Put ethics in math" is a veiled way of saying "we will regulate what math is acceptable for you to do and what not".

And since this is an oath this implies you WILL BE PUNISHED FOR BREAKING IT. No more truth, just subjectivity.

The year is 2045: you need to obtain a permission from the European Union Mathematics Ethics Comittee before you are allowed to execute a vector cross product on your CPU in your own code.

Also: medical doctors take the oats. But then the pharma drug rep comes along...

>> Similary cramming meat down our gullets morning day and night is a recent change too.

If we were hunter gatherers who hunted megafauna then we ate TONS of meat in the past, so this is not a difference.

And there are also cultures who do fine without veggies, the Inuit.

OP here. You are free to feed your children with this new experimental food that has never been consumed at any point of human evolution on this planet.

The last time we tried this expriment with novel new foods 10% of USA got diabetes.

Do tell me how your children will end up in 20 years of this kind of food.

>> The Good Food Institute Europe (GFI Europe) reports that sales of plant-based foods across 13 European nations amounted to €5.7 billion in 2022.

The good food institude is the lobbying arm of the lab grown protein companies.

>> ...a Y Combinator funded non-profit that promotes plant- and cultivated meat alternatives to conventional animal meat

Also look at stocks at these fake food companies: they are all going down.

Re:If capitalism works why are you still poor? on Saturday April 15, 2023 @07:55AM (#35579778)
Comparing to what? Is capitalism perfect? No.

But compared to the communistic forms of socialism? Do look at what shitshow of living and totalitarian condition were in Yugoslavia, USSR, China under Mao etc...

There is also conflation of "bankers hold all the money" as if that is a thing exclusive to capitalism. Look at communist contries: the leaders ARE RICH! Josip Broz Tito, Mao etc...all communist leaders were rich! It's the same thing: Joe Sixpack didn't own much neither in communism nor capitalism.

But in capitalism you the best of the best atleast have a chance to get somewhere by their own above average ability.

The problem is corruption in capitalism.

Or can we go deeper: the problem is human nature?

If so, is this even solvable?

EU again ensuring no tech company founder will ever stay in EU.
>>Some politicians are, as you know, blaming the wealthy people moving.

These politicians truly are the stupidest form of humans alive.

>> “The model in Norway is that everyone should contribute relevant to ability and therefore those that have a greater ability to pay taxes, should pay a little more.”

Since taxes are based on % rich already paid more.

And people wonder why no one wants to be in EU for their next big startup idea!

Reactionism. While alchochol and highly processed junk food is being sold without even a peep!

Re:Illegally Carried Handguns Are the Problem on Monday April 03, 2023 @01:50PM (#35428311)
>> The widespread ownership of guns in the United States is the predominant reason we have so much more homicide than the developed countries of Europe and Asia.

Switzerland has the same or even more guns then USA per capita and they don't have these problems.

So the author destroys his entire argument in the 1st two lines.

The cat is out of the box. You really think eg China will also pause this?

Myopic thinking: the country that will have the most powerful AI first will be the leader in everything.

>> If the policy starts with the U.S., then China needs to see that the U.S. is not seeking an advantage but rather trying to prevent a horrifically dangerous technology which can have no true owner and which will kill everyone in the U.S. and in China and on Earth.

Imagine being so naive you belive this could ever happen.

Also: imagine the year is 1900. You are saying that steam power and electricity is causing way too many changes way too fast so they put a moratorium on it until the year 2500.

We would still be using candles today.

This is the one moment he has been waiting his entire life for.

He literally waited his entire life for this moment, obviously he's gonna milk it to every drop.

Re:What Killed Penmanship? on Wednesday March 29, 2023 @06:47AM (#35355255)
Nothing killed it. People just realized that everyone who was telling you that pennmanship mattered was full of shit.
Re:Italy Bans Synthetic Food on Wednesday March 29, 2023 @05:04AM (#35354475)
>> Food companies' network Cellular Agriculture Europe said Italy was limiting options for consumers who are concerned about animal welfare and the environmental impact of their food choices.

Big food pissed off that they can't sell you their sludge.

Sure sure.

While the same groups will keep on developing it but behind closed doors.

Re:My Hardest Bug Ever on Tuesday March 07, 2023 @04:26PM (#35061490)
I've never seen such annoying ads on any website: the ad size changes every ~30 seconds which rearranges the text flow of the article completely and I get lost.
Also: you suffer what most people suffer: the indoctrination that "you have to support your siblings or parents": YOU DO NOT! Or more precisely: if they are ignorant and do not understand the harsh reality of the situation you find yourself in then you OWN THEM NOTHING. Only support those who also do everything in their (limited) power to support the family. Freeloaders are to be ignored and ghosted!

You young sister might not be able to bring in a lot of money, but she can atleast get a part time job to cover her own expenses/hobbies. Everyone can do what they can.

But if they refuse to do atleast the things they can then it's byebye, not your problem anymore.

Imagine this scenario: if the women fail to understand that you have your own desire and will to live your own life and instead demand that you bend and destroy your own life so that they can do stupid stuff themselves: well, do you realize how selffish they are and how little they truly care about you?

>> First thing she said was that I have to become worthy of my father.

You don't need to be worthy of anyone but yourself. That is manipulation that parents/grandparents do on their children and it's horribly destructive as it will only riddle you with guilt. F** living up to your father, do the things that vibe with you.

Your sister will (somehow) need to come to terms that $$ is needed in life. If money is scarce then stop paying for her lessons and tell her to get a part time job as she must come to understand asap that things cost $$ in real life.

If there are so many apartments and $$$ is tight tell them to move in together in one apartment to reduce costs and rent out the rest.

The guy to which you are replying is 100% correct. This is not the time for luxury. And if those women won't understand this and complain then ghost them: your life has priority: DO NOT LET THEM DESTROY YOUR OWN LIFE JUST SO THAT THEY CAN LIVE SOME IGNORANT LUXURIOUS LIFE! YOUR (FUTURE) FAMILY/CHILDREN IS WHAT MATTERS MOST! Do not destroy your life with ignorant people!

Also: stop letting that family to live in that apartment rent free! YOU are what matters, not them. Charge them or kick them out and get a new family.

Re:Vim users are better programmers on Sunday March 05, 2023 @02:06PM (#35032790)
One can express curiousity in Unity, Unreal Engine, Visual Studio, etc...

No need to kill yourself with unproductive tools.

Perhaps what also makes one a better programmer is the simple realization that curiousity is one thing, but using stupid tools is a fools errand when nowadays there is a better tool for everything than tedious text editors.
