Re:LG admits premium display fails near wi-fi on Friday February 03, 2017 @01:05PM (#13561776)
This has confused me too, maybe it has to do with the size of the relative markets?

Right this way, just step into this decontamination pod
Re:Ask HN: Best Monitor Around $300 for Dev Work? on Monday December 12, 2016 @09:52AM (#13158399)
I picked up the 32" QHD HP Omen monitor that was on sale during black Friday and so far it's been really nice. I have two 23" Dell something or other monitors in portrait mode on either side.

Interesting, thanks for the link!
Re:Facebook has cut off Prisma’s Live Video access on Wednesday November 30, 2016 @09:59AM (#13071244)
I didn't even know about "style transfer", is this a big thing in other coountries (as Prisma seems to be Russian)?
Re:Ask HN: Who do you bank with? on Friday October 14, 2016 @12:58PM (#12709415)
I like my Schwab Investor Checking account a lot
That's a weird statement for people who need mssql support.

Re:The Prostate Cancer Test That Saved My Life on Tuesday October 04, 2016 @05:02PM (#12639450)
False negatives are always possible, however in a quick search I couldn't find any papers on the rates.
Re:The Prostate Cancer Test That Saved My Life on Tuesday October 04, 2016 @04:58PM (#12639415)
I would say if you have any sort of feeling something isn't right, then talk to your doctor. A DRE alone would probably be enough if you are super worried.
But they're disrupting the paperless statements industry! /s
Re:How to win the coding interview on Tuesday May 31, 2016 @08:50AM (#11806220)
My school actually had standard coding styles for each language they taught. Naturally, they all wanted a metric fuckton of comments (luckily the TAs didn't care as much about the comments part of those guides).
Whoops! Should be fixed now, thanks.
Re:Introducing unlimited private repositories on Wednesday May 11, 2016 @09:01AM (#11674843)
I never noticed that before.. I like the "nonpolitical" one as well, pretty vague in my opinion.
maybe it's that new vegan place down the street? /s
I was just wondering the same thing
I'm not sure if it's a matter of precedent for the small frys. By that I mean, even if there is precedent you still need a tremendous amount of money/legal power to fight.
I'd say any city in Michigan...except we don't need drones to see them since I'm pretty sure you can seem them from the ISS....
Re:How to Survive Gentrification of the Drupal Community on Tuesday March 08, 2016 @11:35AM (#11246313)
I'm not familiar with Drupal at all, so I believe you. I just liked the analogy. :)
Re:How to Survive Gentrification of the Drupal Community on Tuesday March 08, 2016 @10:47AM (#11245913)
Drupal 8 is not a gentrified neighborhood, it's more like the ghost cities in China: clean, modern, well-designed -- and empty.

I'm digging this analogy.

There can be only one!..person on time to work and it's going to be me
Re:Stripe Atlas on Wednesday February 24, 2016 @10:11PM (#11172107)
He is referring to how the default franchise tax is calculated using the "Authorized Shares Method" which gives many an MI when they see they owe $20k+, without realizing you can use the "Assumed Par Value Capital Method" and your bill suddenly becomes like ~$500.
Re:Leaving PHP is too expensive on Monday February 15, 2016 @01:18PM (#11104937)
I'm not against PHP but that statement is flat out wrong. To me it seems a lot of PHP frameworks are building on the frameworks that came before them in other languages like Rails, Django, et al which is a good thing.
Ah, I see. Thanks!
Yeah, especially when you consider Carmack basically volunteered to rewrite Minecraft in C++ for Microsoft (and VR use). I'm not a game developer so I have no idea if C++ is as widespread as it seems but to me that's a pretty big indication.
Re:Parker Conrad Steps Down as Zenefits CEO on Tuesday February 09, 2016 @07:46AM (#11064882)
Yeah, and at that point you probably won't be using TriNet anymore.
Re:$250k of DigitalOcean credits for YC startups on Thursday February 04, 2016 @06:14AM (#11033229)
I am consistently surprised by Azure pricing when I look to spin new stuff up (luckily I'm not paying for it). Not to mention I lose connectivity to some of my v12 sql databases randomly.
Re:Ask HN: Is it normal to have enemies? on Tuesday February 02, 2016 @04:26PM (#11022779)
Maybe you should to talk to him about it? I feel like you need catharsis to move past it/him.
Re:Show HN: I recently launched a new cloud hosting company on Tuesday February 02, 2016 @11:15AM (#11020328)
