Why replace something deterministic with something non-deterministic? I can no longer tell someone "just google it" because I don't actually know what will come up...
The Road is my favorite fathering book ever. I have recommended it to all my dad friends. Audiobook is excellent too.
Its funny you say thay it's the browser slowing you down on your PC. I have an MBP from 2011 and the browser (Safari) is the only thing it can still run extremely well.
Yeah, but you can just uninstall offenders
This is not cynical - it's a common/smart play with little downside taking advantage of a bad situation (e.g., like the CEO being hated in general by the community).
I was going to buy a Pixelbook Go since it's a well-made laptop and I like the simplicity of ChromeOS. Then I realized that the first app I'd install is Firefox since it's vastly superior when it comes to ad-blocking especially on Android.
Is it "heroic" to enter a war with no official support from the West then call on the West to help you? This isn't a movie. This is people dying because he won't give up his right-wing dream of a "free Ukraine" that will still have to do business with its giant neighbor and will always be under that neighbor's influence. Canada is the same for the US. It needs to play the game. Taiwan is the same for China. It plays the game.
Is it "heroic" to stop men from leaving the country so they can fight a war they have no interest in fighting? That seems a bit like he's infringing on their freedom, no? Why is this ignored?
I think OP wanted to make a point that Z is not all sunshine and rainbows.
Ditto all of the above. The book doesn't ask anybody to take all the rules and apply them daily at an extreme. It doesn't ask the reader to remove their free thought. It's more "think about these things as you go through life" and you'll inevitably achieve more power.
But how much is it worth to Australia? There have probably been at least 107 Killian Instagram shots taken there, no? Also, hard to trust an article that misspelled the city's name...
Food... or fresh/unpolluted water. For food, I think it's a little easier but societies that have a hard time producing would have to adjust what they eat and how they eat it. Also, less meat, less red wine, more beer and more potatoes. The latter are much more sustainable.
E.g., In Canada, we'll have to accept we can't have bananas, pineapple, kiwis, mangos any time. We'll have to stick to locally grown apples, way fewer (but higher quality) blueberries and probably eat all the things Icelanders eat like smoked fish.
There's a course on Coursera called The Nordic Diet which is about Scandinavia as a whole adjusting its national diet to eat more local produce. Talk about foresight! That's just one of the principles at least. It's a Danish-run program. E.g., They eat more lingonberries since they grow all over the place?
These grasshoppers sound like a solution for the world's plastic problem? Also, I just added that region to my Travel TODO list :)
Love the place, à must visit, BUT, after taking my girlfriend for her birthday, beware leaving there at night. She was very uncomfortable even walking to the car. DTLA in general is quite iffy at night.
Hoping this does wonders for the FreeCiv feature release cycle and engage frondend devs obsessed with good UI/UX. Will support for sure. I fantasize about one very big civ game that lasts forever a la EVE Online.
Features a venture analysis framework created by a very experienced award-winning HBS professor (Regina Herzlinger) with a very unique style. It details her venture context analysis framework, her venture financial analysis framework and her venture technology analysis framework. All focused on health tech. Highly recommended course with tons of examples.
Best computer I ever got was a used bottom spec Lenovo T-series I gave my sister. It's 8 years old. My new top-spec T-series had to be returned to Lenovo twice for factory faults.
The debate is all about goals. The vast majority of athletic goals outside of bodybuilding and power lifting can be achieved with bodyweight and one kettlebell. The choice of that kb depends on your goals again. I have a 35lb and it's enough to get a hard workout.
Yes, unless you crosspost to Instagram or Facebook and tell people in your videos about all three. Or is that frowned upon at YouTube and/or monitored if you have a high viewership channel?
What's a gym? COVID made me forget. COVID also gave me more time to do things especially without the commute. What did I learn to do with 0 équipment?
1) Want to lose fat? You can run outside. You can also swim outside if you're lucky. It's free. Or you can walk briskly. Even better for losing fat. Want to improve your technique? There's plenty of instruction on YouTube and online.
2) Want to get strong? You can follow along workouts from Iron Wolf on YouTube and do some hardcore basic calisthenics. It's free. Don't worry, you're not stronger than him. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCBUo6dgGR82QOfidtpNRQww
3) Want to improve your flexibility? You can follow along workouts from Human 2.0 on YouTube to hit flexibility, mobility and body maintenance. It's free. https://www.youtube.com/c/Humantwopointzeroinc
Also, you can do all of the above with friends! They don't need any equipment either.
I'd err towards this direction too based on the megacorp I work at. Curious if you have ballpark #s to how much less companies are hiring.
More thrill to get the content, more dopamine hit once you get to the goal, the more likely it is to be more addictive. If it's not forbidden, it's not nearly as exciting.
I appreciate the warning and see it as having been done in a way that is not judgemental. If the book was really graphic or even really heartbreaking, I'd appreciate a warning as well.
Moreover, I told two gay friends about the potential of two penises being rubbed together in a highly-popular Hugo award-winning SF series. While neither has read SF OR fantasy before, they are most definitely embarking on this journey now.
This post nicely summarizes the game. The effects of short-term tactics are meant to show once Trump is unable to get re-elected for whatever reason. At that point, some fool will get into power and will have to handle the aftermath.
If my goal was to make money for myself and my corporation (I do that as POTUS since I highly influence all the major funding decisions), I'd do the exact same things. My insta-base will realize the long-term effects on themselves when I'm dead or, at the very least, out of the picture. But, when that time comes, I would be leaving a legacy with a level of wealth/power that will allow mine to absolutely dominate politics for decades.
In other words, Trump is like water and rolls with all punches including big ones like COVID. I'm not American, but one can definitely admire the epitome of self-interest.
I have to agree with this. It's an essential skill. There are great courses on LinkedIn and Coursera for free (even if you don't get the respective subscriptions).
Graphviz organizes the elements in a graph in the most efficient way possible.
Plant UML uses graphviz as a library to generate a variety of component diagrams.
Until mermaid comes up with the vast list of diagrams one can create in Plant UML, I don't see it as operating in the same weight class. E.g., wireframes, basic Gantts, AWS diagrams, component diagrams with graphviz (thought I confess I hate this dependency), archimate diagrams if you're really hardcore.
You could customize a style for your diagrams and then include it via a one-liner in every diagram you create. This also allows for branding of diagrams.
Personally, I'm a huge fan of the simplicity and whenever I present such a diagram to teams or execs, I break the ice by warning them it'll be "ugly" or "let's go back to 1995 for a sec" :) More importantly, the focus remains strictly on the content because of the basic design.
I'd more than happily contribute to such a project! Backgammon is to chess what boxing is to fencing and I love boxing.
So, serious question: if I was going to buy a ring for my girlfriend, would this be a good time to buy?
Morning thought: if I was a marketer I'd try to confirm my hypothesis of an "I care about this topic" window with the most recent BLM movement. Will it also expire from the world's attention in the same time frame or will it actually create some lasting change? At least one big difference is that BLM is US-focused.
