Re:View Counting at Reddit on Saturday May 27, 2017 @09:04PM (#14432665)
"We want to better communicate the scale of Reddit to our users."

If that's true why did they hide vote numbers on comments and posts? It used to say "xxx upvotes xxx downvotes" now it just gives a number and hides that.

pls stop posting political propaganda #fakenews to a hacker site
Neowin and Ghacks are cool
Discouraging hacking domestically it will widen the skill gap between foreign hackers and domestic white hats.
Re:Filezilla at SourceForge is malware on Wednesday January 07, 2015 @06:18PM (#8853981)
I haven't paid for the program and have not installed any adware on my machine, I am happy with the product and have no qualm with someone who has spent their time making something to try to profit from it. I'm not the sort of person who opts-in to install malware so its not an issue to me. If I wanted to be upset about something I would buy a commercial, ad-free, program and complain that it does not have features of filezilla.

Re:This email may be worth millions of dollars in sales on Tuesday September 23, 2014 @10:51PM (#8359662)
"We're designed to help improve your'e company's performance in the critical area of XYZ."

- your'e

- company's

If it is worth millions of dollars do a spellcheck.

Re:USBCondom on Saturday August 23, 2014 @07:10PM (#8217141)
If I can get a flash drive for $10 I should be able to get this for <$5. I'll wait until the novelty wears off and get it for $1 from china, on Ebay.

Delete "sample page" or at least remove it from the primary menu.
Re:Choose Firefox Now, Or Later You Won't Get A Choice on Saturday August 16, 2014 @06:50AM (#8185858)
Because Mozilla gets money from it and it is something familiar for users.

As a user who knows about "defaults" you're way ahead of everyone else and can probably figure out how to change them. For people who don't care Google is perfect.

Re:Affinity Designer – Illustrator alternative on Thursday July 31, 2014 @04:16PM (#8116719)
It isn't an alternative.

Illustrator runs on Windows and Mac, this runs on Mac. I don't have a mac, nor do I want one, so this is unusable.

Now tell me about how design has to be done on a and how the sleek $2000 plastic encasing the computer helps you do it.

Federal Highway Administration shares some responsibility in this, as well.
Re:Court to Yelp: Reveal names of negative reviewers on Friday January 10, 2014 @06:28PM (#7040403)
The reviewer can do the same. Getting into a pissing match with an individual as a business is a bad business move.
Re:Court to Yelp: Reveal names of negative reviewers on Friday January 10, 2014 @06:26PM (#7040387)
That one negative review costs money.

Beyond that - Googling the name of the business will almost always show a Yelp link below and will display the star rating within the search results. Bad stars = no business.

I like the Toshiba laptop I got.. but the Toshiba Thrive tablet which came out at the same time as Xoom has not received any updates! Xoom is on 4.4, Thrive has been abandoned.

Re:Google Has Officially Penalized Rap Genius For Link Schemes on Thursday December 26, 2013 @04:17PM (#6968091)
"My personal belief is that, devaluing the site for the BRAND term e.g. [rap genius] actually devalues Google's quality."

I absolutely second this because I just did a search for Rap Genius and it only showed twitter.. So I did a search for it on Bing instead.

How is this "official"? Bitcoin is decentralized. There are no officials.
Re:TinyPNG launches API to automate PNG compression on Tuesday November 26, 2013 @03:29PM (#6803972)
I use Pngyu ( http://nukesaq88.github.io/Pngyu/) and it gives me the same compression as tinypng.
Re:Secret life of phones: how one contacted 315 servers a day on Friday November 22, 2013 @03:51PM (#6783656)
I got Xprivacy on my android so it doesn't affect me. Before that I had Pdroid. These things don't affect me because I take privacy in my own hands.
Re:The rapid rise and fall of daily deal Web sites on Friday November 22, 2013 @03:44PM (#6783599)
I'm still visiting daily deal websites every day...

I never visited Groupon, that's not the type of deals I'm looking for.

Sites I look at are woot.com, dealnews.com, bitsdujour.com slickdeals.net, etc...

Groupon is for the masses.

bitcoins are mined with gpu

I mean, they could be mined with cpu but it would be nothing.

Re:Why have SVG images not yet replaced PNG on the web? on Monday September 30, 2013 @09:21PM (#6473474)
Easy answer - when you're making an image in photoshop and you go to save it you don't get to save it as .svg
Re:YouTube Comments Powered by Google+ on Tuesday September 24, 2013 @08:12PM (#6441778)

Re:DivX Now Installs Malware on Thursday September 19, 2013 @02:37AM (#6410193)
Why use a codec pack for a single codec?

On windows you can use FFDSHOW or LAV or XVID to decode divx.

Re:Sheryl Sandberg earns $100M, but won't pay interns on Wednesday August 14, 2013 @09:52PM (#6215693)
Interns aren't employees and aren't allowed to do things that generate income.
Yelp may as well grab business owners by the ankles and dangle them upside down for loose change.
