No matter what we do on the supply side it will be eaten up by the unlimited demand from people coming here. Unless we slow down immigration housing will always be too expensive.
This only further hurts people living here by chasing them out of their homes and taking control of their communities away from them.
We can't solve the problems of every country in the world by destroying our own. That only makes things worse for everyone.
Funny, without js all the specs say "0." I guess they wanted it animated for dramatic affect and now you get something very much the opposite, like they're sarcastically selling you a rock.

Some of us don't want to give Microsoft our phone number just to play a game we bought from another company.
I think you should try rereading my comment.
I was working out of a studio apartment until this year and I honestly didn't feel like my WFH set up took up any real extra space:
In the beginning I would use the breakfast bar and just put the laptop up after work. Later on I bought an Ikea arm chair and an end table that just stayed in a corner I didn't use. This is all in addition to the partitioned off area for my side projects that had it's own desk and chair.
Pretty much nothing (including emacs!) We're only supposed to use our work computers for IM, email, and ssh to the VMs (hosted by the VM team) where we do the actual work. IMO: this is the optimal way to do it. The engineers know how to build decent machines and it separates our work from the mess corp IT creates and also decouples our capabilities from the PC hardware which has many other competing constraints.
>Racism is a form or subset of bigotry.
If you look closely you'll notice that this isn't how extremists (on both sides) use the word. Racism to them means something closer to oppression (similar to the Marxist idea of class oppression.) The idea itself, the way it's used by extremists, is bigoted.
I wish the moderates arguing in good faith against bigotry would stop using it. It has an ugly genocidal history going back to the bolshevik revolution and the Holodomor that followed.
Yes, that's not incompatible with what I said.
My employer brought in a Harvard University professor to preach at us for ~45 minutes about how the US is awful and White people should feel guilty just for living their lives. I have absolutely met these people and have to deal with them at work.
>Something you can't really do anymore.
People seem to do this sort of thing pretty often in the Arctic. There's a lot more empty space than some people think.
Being told you should feel guilty for being a particular race is as valid as being told you should be proud for it.
Moderates stepping into arguments about racism made by extremists (on both sides) might not realize how bigoted the idea of "racism" itself is. Those on the left argue that the "oppressing" race should feel guilty, not just that no one should feel pride in their race.
This is extremely reductionist. It's like saying untying a balloon doesn't cause it to deflate, the deflation is caused by the random motion and collisions of the air molecules.
But we do try to make things right for US citizens (and often foreigners) inside our own borders. What happens inside your borders is way more important than outside.
I don't think what we've done in the middle east is remotely good but it's substantially different.
> i ve never seen one.
Really? At least the Walmart here stopped selling PC laptops and only sells chromebooks now.
My understanding was the raspberry pi was supposed to be the modern zx80: cheap above all else to make it easy for kids to get a computer.
>Earlier today, Broadcom announced the release of full documentation for the VideoCore IV graphics core, and a complete source release of the graphics stack under a 3-clause BSD license."
Does this mean the Raspberry Pi might get suspend to ram support? That would make building a PDA out of eg the Raspberry Pi zero which gets decent battery life feasible.
I actually don't know a single young person who died from Covid over the pandemic but I know a few who committed suicide and a couple more who attempted it.
IMO HTTP 1.1 is fine if you get rid of HTML (or restrict it to an older standard.)
There's no way to make that clear so people built a new protocol.
I remember seeing an epidemiologist near the beginning who was saying that normally people don't listen at all when they talk about these kinds of things and so they sound the alarm loudly. This time people listened and he was warning everyone that an overreaction would kill more people. He probably got kicked off everything for "disinformation."
The hardware is awesome, it's the social stuff around them that make them useless.
I don't think it's an age thing, there were plenty of old people dreaming along with us.
Whatever California and NYC tried absolutely didn't work so you can't just say "something else."
If it's not happening then the law changes nothing and you can let the people you disagree with waste energy tilting at windmills.
>how did you learn about options
Memes from Reddit and 4chan's "biz" board.
Asset price inflation is more or less eating the children. None of the younger people can afford to live on their own which means keeping the same production requires civilization destroying high rates of immigration (and even that isn't really working.)
It doesn't really matter now, it's way way too late to fix but these two things will more or less end the US, it's how most of the large Western empires ended.
I really should give CDE another shot. Last time I tried building it I ran into trouble but I may have been on Alpine.
I've been using Linux since I was 10 (so almost 20 years now) and there still isn't a distro that I can say I like (although Alpine is closest.) If you want to be picky then learn to do it from scratch, otherwise find a distro with a good group of people behind it and stick with it.
