Not every tech tuber can crank out a video every 14 days, sometimes you only get one video every 2 months...

Kindof old news, they've been doing this for months...

What bugs me the most are the ones that cycle through a list of LLM user agents.. What are you actually? You can't be Baidu and Bing at the same time.

Re:Breaking the Open Web Won't Stop the Bad Bots on Friday October 30, 2026 @03:48PM (#50309241)
I agree, as much as I would like to sue the owner of the bots scraping my personal website...

But if it turns out to be a large international company, I'm kindof screwed... A regular person can't go after the Amazon's and Alibaba's.

Re:Backdoors in official Claude Code extensions on Friday October 30, 2026 @07:34AM (#50302572)
It looks like they push an update every office day. I'm guessing if I installed 6 months ago and didn't update, that I should be fine?
Re:Pidgin 3.0.0 Alpha 4 (2.98.0) has been released on Friday October 30, 2026 @06:43AM (#50302157)
What services does it still support? AIM and MSN are long gone... so, that leaves IRC and XMPP?

For what its worth, the fp sensor on my laptop is the power button... don't forget to not push down...

But what do those numbers mean?

A supply chain that also comes from Shenzhen... last time I checked, North America doesn't make chips or other components either.

Re:PHP2Shell: Exploitation Attempts and Remediation Trends on Tuesday October 27, 2026 @10:37AM (#50260081)
Amazon said 4 days prior to patch, but I'm pretty sure the other one was cloudflare, I can't find the link in my browser history.
Re:PHP2Shell: Exploitation Attempts and Remediation Trends on Tuesday October 27, 2026 @10:14AM (#50259730)
Just last week companies were saying php2shell has been rampant for months, but if that were the case, wouldn't we all have strange errors in our logs? Something seems fishy to me.

I haven't bought an Nvidia gpu since the 980. /shrug

Not until they settle on one control panel.
What's 7 years of interest on $150AUS? Follow the money...
Re:Making My Blog Readable by AI Agents on Sunday October 25, 2026 @04:42AM (#50229497)
I get the odd one try on my personal site, but usually its just robots.txt... /shrug
Re:How does Fable 5.1 hide messages in images? on Friday October 23, 2026 @05:33AM (#50206443)
Since svg is a "described" format, can't you just stuff text comments into the file? No weird steganography techniques needed, afaik...

Re:ThinkPad I9990303 Error Catch-22 on Thursday October 22, 2026 @07:37AM (#50193975)
Some early computers with a key toggled the keyboard power, rather than preventing someone from turning off the power switch... I guess it was more important to keep people from typing things than it was keeping the system powered up. The 80s and early 90s were weird times. /shrug

How does a mobile game use PHP? Wouldn't the game code use a custom socket and protocol for its comms?

Re:Nurses Are in High Demand–But They're Quitting in Droves on Tuesday October 20, 2026 @01:39PM (#50169894)
They're also replaced in droves. We build hundreds of new student accounts at $dayjob on a monthly basis.

I'm not sure I understand this, for an OSS project, the only timeframes at play are self-imposed. I don't think most people would care if you pushed a release back by a week to fix some last minute bugs. /shrug

Re:Linux 7.3 Released on Monday October 19, 2026 @06:41AM (#50150731)
Just because you have a device tree file, doesn't mean its correct, or even accurate.
Phone number is fine, I only got one of those, it's an easy no...

The one I hate is when places ask for my email address... even if I wanted to, I have like 6 email addresses, which one do you want? Don't ask me to repeat it 20 times because you can't spell. Fuck it, I give up, no email either. :(

Re:Hello Toronto – Waymo Is En Route on Friday October 16, 2026 @08:38PM (#50126624)
You just drive over it until it becomes a thick, flat sheet of ice... and hopefully not rutted, or else you'll get stuck trying to move your car in the morning.
The purpose of the restriction is to keep people from using hacked baofengs to chat on bands a) they're not allowed to use unlicensed b) could potentially already be in use by another service eg EMS/fire/police.
Re:Last rites for Gentoo's Chromium package on Friday October 16, 2026 @05:47AM (#50116308)
I tried some months ago, and it'll make a blank one fine, but if you need a complex configure or install phase, I felt I was better off doing it by hand.
