That and collective withholding of the labor power of the working class (strikes) are the only 2 ways any national ruling class has ever been meaningfully opposed. Take your pick and do everything you can to make it happen first.
>We like to point the finger here in the US about how corrupt Russia, Ukraine or any other country is but we’re no Saints.

Our finger-pointing is not due to coincidence; it's due to conflict. Specifically, the conflict is between the inherent interests of competing national ruling classes.

>The executives of these companies should have their addresses listed as well as all the politicians on the take and let the people do with them what they will.

The executives of these companies answer to the company owners (corporate boards) who collectively control the state by leverage of capital. Because we are a capitalist society, the owners of the capital have the power. Any apparent exceptions will always be withheld from accumulating meaningful influence, short of revolution by the working class.

In other words, this is not a matter of faulty policy. It is a conflict of power. Let's discuss it as such.

>I think the argument could be made that Apple could be charged with something worse than ransomware

No it can't. It's much too powerful to be charged with anything at all, much less "something worse than ransomware."

And we should criticize historical communist leaders accordingly, instead of criticizing socialism whole cloth.

Correction: He is beholden to the structural constraints of capitalism, just like every other capitalist would be.

This is not a matter of how much kindness is in his heart. Free speech under capitalism is utopianism. The only solution is the next stage of human organization: socialism.

No they aren't! Just actually read the quote, for Christ's sake.

The quote is, though.

It would be slightly easier to take you seriously if you could spell correctly.

What are you talking about? Opioids are already literally legal and regulated.

Did you even read the rest of their comment?

If you disagree, then make an actual argument for the content of your position. This subjective word policing is pathetic and unconvincing.
Examples of any practical reason to categorize Jacinda Ahern's government as left wing.

At least a few explicit examples would be a good place to start. I look forward to it.
False binary. Under capitalism, the state is always beholden to the interests of capital, i.e. "private" capital.
NZ has never had a left wing government. NZ's government is neoliberal, which is not left wing in any way. Neoliberalism is in all actuality right wing.
Utter nonsense. If nurses didn't previously expect decent work conditions, what on Earth motivated them to unionize? Sorry but your comment is just total garbage.
Re:The Twitter Files, Part Six on Saturday December 17, 2022 @04:57AM (#34026431)
It's straightforwardly a broad term and you have no basis for your nonsense gatekeeping.

Get a black and white Brother laser printer. It's super affordable, costs almost no money or time to maintain, and always works.
Good point, but at the end of the day it's still ultimately a political problem.
>Can you imagine the outcry when they have to eminent domain some poor peoples property?

No, I can't, but I don't have to imagine the insurmountable resistance when the government merely suggests using eminent domain on a rich person's property.

Besides, poor people don't own property in the US anymore.

You can make the freight train wait at the merge. It's not rocket science.
Sure, but there is no precedent for such regulation as long as the railroads are privately owned by the same corporations that control congress. This is yet another case of HN Utopianism.
That is not what de facto means, but regardless what is the point in even mentioning it if it were?
Good luck with that. The only thing we've been able to do in the last few decades is close railways altogether.
That is just plain wrong. In practice, of the 30+ interstate Amtrak trips I've taken in the past 10 years, the overwhelming majority of them are delayed by freight rail. It is standard operating procedure.
>the official policy is to prioritize passenger rail

Define "official"

>hopefully events such as these will begin to change that.

What events?

If you think this was a rare case, you obviously don't ride Amtrak long distance much. Most interstate Amtrak trips get delayed by freight, and it has been that way for decades.

The real problem here is that freight trains have so much priority in the US, unlike every other major country in the world.

It doesn't matter how many or what kinds of trains we have. This sort of policy will always makes trains an unreliable and therefore impractical mode of transportation.

And this is a major reason for the US leading the world in carbon consumption per capita.

>In a recession, the least useful people are probably HR.

I think you mean recruiters, not HR. Big difference.

The fact that there was nothing about him that was in any way socialist makes him not a socialist.
>China Communists

This is like calling Hitler a socialist because of his party's name.
