I think the best example is Reddit. They are so amateurish in their ways to try to prevent bots that only makes the site more user hostile. The bots are still thriving.
Do you emails land on the inbox when the recipient is on gmail? Or do they go to spam?
What do you use for email?
Re:Why aren't AI companies being charged for hacking? on Monday October 12, 2026 @11:28AM (#50057852)
Extremely weak arguments. Especially 2 and 3

And even for 1, they could easily filter that out.

Actually it perfectly reflects the government’s principles: “when you're a star, they let you do it. You can do anything”

Let’s put our pitchforks down and think for a moment.

Do you really think that Netflix has a preference for non-Americans?

On one hand we say they chose Americans to pay less money on the other hand we see this absurd amount of money for a remote job

Why? Because this is not them looking to fill a position but rather trying to get a PERM for an employee that they are already happy with. We don’t even know if it’s H1B or L1

Not saying that the H1B program doesn’t have its problems, but this is not the case of let’s fill this job with non-Americans for less pay

That’s a hand waving if I’ve ever seen one.

How is that going to help?

If the Agent gets launched with is own user is will not have access to ANY of the files that are only read by the user.

Re:Suits Are Better Tech Than Modern Clothes on Thursday October 01, 2026 @02:29AM (#49918363)
And suits are not the only piece of clothing with many pockets or with buttons. So the whole argument is “I like custom fitted suits”
Re:Suits Are Better Tech Than Modern Clothes on Thursday October 01, 2026 @02:27AM (#49918350)
TLDR: I have unusual extremities to torso ratio hence I find custom fitted suits more comfortable. Some nonsense about button and pockets that are not exclusive to suits.

Why is this on HN to start with and how the hell did it get to the front page?

Re:Why the Bronze Age Collapsed on Wednesday September 30, 2026 @07:14PM (#49915698)
Yes. Iron wasn’t a contributing factor.

Iron was already known to civilization during Bronze Age, but they didn’t know how to make it hard. Hence Bronze was preferred.

After, and because, of the Bronze Age collapse they started funding out how to make iron useful.

Think about it, why did the humans in Americas never went through Iron Age? Because they never had a Bronze Age collapse.

Re:Why the Bronze Age Collapsed on Wednesday September 30, 2026 @07:10PM (#49915667)
Nope. It wasn’t pure iron. It was lightly carbonized iron.

Also you are talking about Iron Age. Which came after and as a consequence of the Bronze Age.

Pure iron is utterly useless as a weapon. Look it up.

Re:Why the Bronze Age Collapsed on Wednesday September 30, 2026 @06:24PM (#49915244)
Because pure iron, with no carbonization, is useless as a material for tools or weapons.

Carbonization was invented/discovered after the Bronze Age collapse, slowly over hundreds of years, exactly because they didn’t have access to bronze anymore.

> early Greeks, and especially the Mycenaeans (c. 1750–1050 BCE), are associated with major advances in technology (including writing)

I’ve been doing a bit of reading on the Bronze Age Collapse recently. It was such an apocalyptic event that Greeks forgot how to write and read.

Before the collapse, Greeks were using Linear A and Linear B. It took them a few hundred years after the Bronze Age Collapse to learn how to write again, this time borrowing the Phoenician alphabet.

Imagine what an event would look like today that would take us back 200-400 years technologically.

100%

The market for a phone like this is extremely small and the price makes it even smaller.

> Nobody has good answers for any of these things. It's a folly to think someone else has it figured out.

We don’t know that. Only history will tell us who figured it out and why.

What I don’t understand is why there is a clear decision between decisions and delivering on decision, other than the artificial need to retain control.

I don’t see a real roadblock that will prevent AI making better devisions than humans.

I think the root problem is Corporations being Legal Persons.

An alternative would be the CEO to be the “legal person” of each Corp. and be the one against all legal actions should be targeted.

In that case it would Zack himself the one facing any legal action.

A Corp’s actions result to the death of a person. CEO should be trialed as if they were the one driving the car.
