Oh well, when we talk about animal cruelty, the paradoxes of what groups of humans think is ethical is mind bending. Because humans (most of them), love to eat meat or use animal products and don't really care where it comes from.

It's a deep subject.

Re:GPT-6.1 Terra on Tuesday October 27, 2026 @08:34AM (#50258176)
More choice is better?

Luna, Terra, Sol, Astra - are a good setting tweak on how much you want to spend vs what you want to get out of it.

I better hope Microsoft’s H1B applications get denied for a few years.

That’s a lot of workers looking for work.

Re:Anthropic S-1 on Monday October 26, 2026 @02:34PM (#50248711)
Which the corporate overlords are going to spend billions to ensure it doesn't happen. I was quite sad when Bernie lost. He'd have tried to at-least shake the system.

Trump is the swamp.

In US, police are gangsters. If you make a lawsuit, they come after you and intimidate. Who gonna police the police?
Meta is a threat. A mind virus. Just like Elon’s mind virus X.
> the psychological scars of being used as a chess piece while Pete Hegseth thinks he’s a version of Call of Duty where the consequences aren’t real.

Majority of Americans voted for Trump. Trump and his goons like Hegseth, Bessent, Bondi don't really give a shit about Americans other than their close family.

We are Banana republic. Let's see how the midterms play out.

Re:Elon Musk pours $366M into midterm Republican campaigns on Friday October 23, 2026 @08:16AM (#50207763)
Dems don't have balls. Too scaredy cats. They love money just as much as Republicans do.
SoftBank is very leveraged with …… debt.

One of the biggest AI investors.

Alphabet owns a big chunk of Anthropic. They good a big bump in earnings due to the rise of Anthropic valuation.

It’s in their interest to help Anthropic for a win/win.

well, it seems the supreme court thinks more money = more free speech.

citizens united case set the precedent, and no party has the balls the actually get the tillman law back in.

In US, democrats and republicans are an illusion of choice. Both love their billions of PAC money.

Bernie is the only exception who refuses to accept PAC money. Everyone else is varying levels of shade of corruption.

The WhatsApp founders sold to Facebook and cashed out.

I think they would have built a better service than FB did. They would have done more good to humanity.

The billions they have now, have they realized self-actualization? Living the lives they truly believe in.

Re:Show HN: WhatsApp MCP running free on Cloudflare on Monday October 19, 2026 @01:04PM (#50154884)
I think governments ought to take the proliferation of WA , or X in their countries seriously.

Open clients like Telegram make a lot more sense. WhatsApp is at the whim of Zuck's and whoever is ruling US's political inclination on what is allowed or not.

That is not a great way to run a country. US corporations in many ways are like worms.

Does a president ever get convicted for treason? Or immunity from all actions?

Eventual reads.

There’s a reason why ACID is a thing. Why “read after write” guarantee is the reason businesses seek Postgres.

Re:Frontier SRE agent trained by Datadog on Thursday October 15, 2026 @05:47PM (#50110820)
I wonder what the person who made inverse x axis of cost was thinking.

First thought was what kind of horseshit is scout if it's not even frontier.

What does anyone gain by an inverse x axis of 2x, 3x, 4x? Why not put the $ cost?

> In particular, it would be pretty sad to destroy one of the few things that makes our life meaningful, not the fancy prize or the fancy position, but simply having a community to share and discuss and learn. To learn things. That is a beautiful thing.

That is indeed a beautiful thing. Even at work, everything is codex/claude. Don't review code. If you are reading code, you are in the past. Everyone thinks some other company has achieved a 100x way of being productive by vibing their way.

Don't ask questions, ask claude to figure it out.

I really enjoyed building products for last 20 years. This year it feels different. Like we care less about our products, about the little details, about the users. Slop is okay, as long as you're moving fast.

But moving fast for what?

When Trump is actively helping Russia, Russia is encouraged to keep on going.
Re:Trump lifts sanctions on Russian diesel on Saturday October 10, 2026 @03:00AM (#50030417)
Not that Trump loses in November. Trump has still 2 more years of causing mayhem.

> But the next generation of software is going to be built differently because it is going to be built by a different kind of developer: agents.

Yeah. No!

I like software built by humans who understand what the software does and can maintain it.

Maintenance is the ultimate boss!

Don’t want to use sloppy unmaintained over-complicated software.

Small government. Big contractors.
Re:SlutCon on Thursday October 01, 2026 @09:48PM (#49929068)
Not sure why flagged. Well written by a human. Breath of air from all the Slop on HN nowadays.
Who got prosecuted for dropping actual nuclear bombs. Twice on civilians.

Or Afghan civilians, or Vietnam, or any other war.

America is a gun lovin country. Drop peace from the sky.

Re:OpenAI agent hacked Australian government website, PM says on Thursday September 24, 2026 @12:17PM (#49832875)
Then Australia will put tail between it's legs and bury the news, because it would be shameful getting hacked by prompt kiddies.

Re:Stripe's Knowledge AI Platform on Wednesday September 23, 2026 @04:35PM (#49822192)
I worked at stripe too. Sail design system at time was exemplary. A ton of effort got invested in little details. They spent an insane effort in making ruby fast with their own jit, formatter and type checker they built.

Post AI, I think the bar hasn’t been the same.

Re:Microsoft killed FoxPro in 2007. Anyway, here's FoxPro revived on Wednesday September 23, 2026 @11:24AM (#49817540)
I legit hate reading AI slop speak.

It's so annoying now. It's like everyone spamming each other with AI slop.

Who gonna police the police?

US government is now a banana republic. Do you feel like Pete Hegseth or Trump or anyone in the administration cares if they killed 1000s or millions of people who don't look like them.

The entire military industrial complex is a maze of people who want to get a chunk of trillion dollars and deflect responsibility.

It's just parasites all the way down.

Dems aren't any better either.
