if you multi-click the timeline, the current time will change to NaN:NaN. And why can't you change the current playing position?
it didn't work exactly as intended: "As a result of the attack Mr Trkulja said that entering his name into Google Images brought up images of other people beneath which his name appeared.
He said some of these figures were allegedly murderers and one a drug trafficker."
what about noise? Audio noise. If it works, this is the next feature I'm interested in. For example, I have an HP laptop, and the charger is noisy.
if you have some cheap speakers, set hardware volume somewhere over 50% and then never touch it. Use the software volume. That's because the hardware volume button will almost certainly break (mine were Logitech).
about NDA: I've worked with a friend on an idea. It was my idea. Because of the way he worked I decided I don't want to continue on that project. He continued anyway. The funny thing is that even though I told him all the details of my idea and I helped him even after I stopped working, he didn't build my idea. The result was similar with what was done before and so was not enough to differentiate in the market. Essentially he did all the easy stuff without understanding why it was so important to do the hard/new stuff.
5. You make room for living.
Your work provides you the ability to live fully and enjoy life. Though you feel captivated and enthralled by your work, you make room for healthy routines like fitness, connection, spontaniety, and play. These activities re-energize and enable you to live a holistically fulfilling life.
from my own experience, yes it does. The way it worked for me was that I was ready to take more risky or uncomfortable decisions.
But from reading your post I sense that you don't really want to do this (who wants to be desperate? nobody): "The experiment starts once I do a Show HN."
For me, building something that you can show should be included in the experiment. So you should start right now!
people complain about artificial inflation, when states print money for no reason, while this article talks about inflation generated by real economic facts (like a bad year in agriculture).
So yes, if you ignore half of reality, you are right!
and what is this? "If the state endows the money with value". Money have a certain value because everybody using them agrees on that value. Dictatorships tried and failed to "endow the money with value". What happened in my country was that some alternative, valuable papers were created. Like a card for bread ratio. That piece of paper had value even if nobody was calling it "money". Or other papers that gave you some rights like buying a car, getting an apartment, vacation tickets etc.
I just want to point out that yes, there is a big difference between airtime and actual money. When I buy credit for my pre-paid card, if I want 5 euros credit, I will pay 5 euros + VAT. But because people pay in our local currency, most of them don't notice. So 5 euros credit it's a product and you have to pay VAT. 5 euros deposited in a bank are actual money and you don't have to pay VAT. Of course, this only happens because of legislation.
I just want to add that balance is what I do now but in a different way. I have read a lot of articles about how to go to sleep early and how to go to gym regularly etc. That worked... sometimes. When someone recommended "balance", I always understood that I need a fixed schedule and to stick to it. But I really can't do that (I want to go to sleep early but I'm not that tired. I will not sleep even if I go.).
What really works is what Marissa Mayer recommended: find your rhythm. So if I want to stay late and work for hours I will do just that. I also realize that maybe the next day I will not be able to work that much or at all. So I just do something relaxing the next day. Sometimes I can work a few days in a row like that. But I always know that there will be one day in which I will not even start the computer. So I think of something to do outside the house. Changing environments helps a lot. That's the rhythm.

Yes. I was thinking at some similar service. With a bank (regulations), you go there, make a deposit for $10 and you will have $10 in your account. With a mobile operator (no bank regulations) if you give them $10 for anything (like pre-paid credit) they will have to charge you VAT for that amount. So what you want is a mobile operator that can take your money but not apply VAT.
And that's why not all software will be in the cloud.
Go Opera! Go!
How would one buy a computer in East Europe?
You go to some PC shop (the vast majority of them were not in a chain of shops, just one guy selling PCs in one area and that's it). You barely had enough money for the machine so nobody was buying software. Anyway, the shop owner (a technical person) knew that it can't work unless he installs some OS. So Windows was installed for free. They could also install some other software for a small fee (the fee was for the work to install it and not for software), or you could buy CDs with software. When they installed software they would usually install the best there was (because anyway, nobody was paying for it so why not?). That meant best software in the category and the latest version of that software. For browsers that meant Opera.
How did you fix the PC?
You just get you technical friend to do it or the shop owner that sold you the PC. When these people would see that you still use IE they would (start to cry and) immediately install what they used: Opera.
So Opera adoption was driven by technical people installing, repairing PCs.
Why it's not so popular elsewhere?
Marketing. MS was telling you how to get on the internet in ads. Firefox was fighting a big monster in articles. I don't recall seeing either for Opera at the time.
"Aw, c'mon. They probably worked their ass off to get those artists to sign up with them before the site even launched."
That's right. And precisely because they worked very hard for that, I added my comment to let them know they are now throwing away most of that effort because they hide the music behind some login. I would put the music out there and annoy people with the login or at least, learn from the drug dealers: first time it's free (more like first 10 times it's free).
I think he means sad in the sense that this should not be in application code. It should be in PHP interpreter. Fixing the interpreter in application code. Sad.
It seems to me that the problem is in all kinds of code that relies on time to do some critical operation when it really should not. Time is for people.
Computers should use a separate "time", that only moves forward. A numbered pulse.
"One thing I’ve noticed about myself is that a lot of things interest me.
I’m not entriely sure this is a thing that can be taught."
All kids have this curiosity; the parents are the ones that kill it ("don't do that!", "behave!", "you are not allowed!")
each person should be judged individually. When you punish the whole group... that's just communism.
You are right. I just wanted to let people know how to use it (I closed the site and reopened it because I didn't know either).
Well, if you could see the first slide you could use the arrows to navigate.
what I fantasize of using is a dentist chair. You can put the keyboard and mouse on the adjustable tools tray, and hung the monitor on the adjustable arm for the lights. The chair position is adjustable as well (I prefer a position in which I sit more on the back with the legs slightly higher than my bottom). I never felt so good in a chair as I did on a recent visit to the dentist.
The only downside is the cost.
Has anyone tried this?
:) The first thing I did when I installed Dropbox, was to delete that folder. After that, when I wanted to test how Dropbox works, I recreated it. I loved that all the public stuff was in... Public.
After using Dropbox for some time I realized that using Public was simple but limiting: I have a file that I want to keep in a specific Dropbox subfolder together with other files (organize things) and, at the same time, I want to share only that one file. So I have to copy it in Public folder too, which mean I have it in two places.
What they need to do it what they did: share anything but... add all the public stuff in one, easy to see place. Maybe softlinks in the Public folder with the same subfolder structure as the Dropbox folder. And when you delete a softlink or an entire folder, all the linked files will not be public anymore.
"So technically, he billed at $60 an hour"
He billed $30 an hour. He was an A developer. If you hire locally it doesn't mean you will get an A time manager too.
Also, just because you feel a project must be done in x weeks it doesn't mean you are right. If you need a lot of custom work, then nobody knows for sure how long it takes until somebody actually does the work. If you want something standard (wordpress installation) then it will be delivered in time.
The voice is really hard to understand. Too low and the way it reads is annoying.
It seems that you can use Dropbox in some way but I didn't understand if it can save directly on a local folder (no login required) or you have to login every time.
I use ScrapBook to save whole webpages.
I haven't tried it yet but I think you can save webpages to your Dropbox folder and have them everywhere.

yes. That's why I said you will also be taxed if you attract traffic in a congested area.
I would tax buildings-activities for congestion. If you rent a building for residential use: no tax. If you rent it to be used as a Shopping Center: big tax. If on top of that, they don't have a big parking space: huge tax.
yes, noise is pollution. I would tax cars based on air and noise pollution and nothing else.
