That is the entire basis of the TV show - "The boys" - and the entire reason for no kings in America.
Re:CBP says it can't comply with refund order on Friday March 06, 2026 @04:12PM (#47281131)
Scotus removed the ability of the JUDICIARY to hold criminal convictions against the president.

The JUDICIARY is the branch that lost power, not Congress.

Re:CBP says it can't comply with refund order on Friday March 06, 2026 @01:15PM (#47278811)
> That's also what Trump was screaming the whole time that Congress is the only way to hold POTUS accountable.

And this is just wrong - anyone can see that every branch must be held accountable by other branches. This supreme court has done more damage to America than most historical supreme courts.

Re:CBP says it can't comply with refund order on Friday March 06, 2026 @12:00PM (#47277678)
"Lies" is a standard operating procedure under this administration.

The court should just call the bluff by passing an order "Every CBP official and their hierarchy up to the President will be fined $1 million/day until the tariffs have been refunded."

Re:The US is flirting with its first-ever population decline on Tuesday February 10, 2026 @10:55AM (#46961548)
I think the fear narrative in America is just completely out of whack. Besides gun shooting and ICE, there are no real threats.

The politicians have made it seem like there is a lot of there is so much threat but realistically normal people just exist. Stop filling for fox news and maga hate messaging.

> Macron is making up numbers

So is Trump. This is all just response to bullying.

"I got big muscles"

"Oh yeah, I got big muscles too"

This all is happening because America elected a criminal clown, twice.

> And why shouldn't it when there is zero negative ramifications for being completely fucking unethical?

This is at the crux of everything in America. There are zero punishments for corporations and executives but there are bureaucratic lock ins for "customers".

And the answer is not merely regulation. Why shouldn't I be able to switch health insurance at ANY time? If I am unsatisfied with United Healthcare, I should be able to get anything else right away. Why impose laws on me?

Their bet is that they will not follow the law, nothing will be done about it, and Americans will be ok with it.

So far, that has been the case. The constitution has become meaningless thanks to maga, and you're better off recognizing that America no longer exists the way you thought about the country.

If anyone ever wondered how third world democracies become corrupt, you don't have to wonder any longer. Just observe the current USA.
> but it's still capital. It should be spent on meeting people's basic human needs, not GPU power.

What you have just described is people wanting investment in common society - you see the return on this investment but ultra-capitalistic individuals don't see any returns on this investment because it doesn't benefit them.

In other words, you just asked for higher taxes on the rich that your elected officials could use for your desired investment. And the rich don't want that which is why they spend on lobbying.

America is a third world thug state where people are being targeted just because...they showed up on a computer system.

> By 2026, Nvidia was the beneficiary of a de facto Ponzi scheme. Investors were excited about AI. One reason they were excited was Nvidia's revenue growth. So they invested in new AI startups and cloud hyperscalers. The startups and hyperscalers then used the money to buy Nvidia chips. Which caused yet more revenue growth for Nvidia, and further convinced investors AI was worth investing in.

Fixed this for anyone still not processing the bubble.

Re:Zohran Mamdani wins the New York mayoral race on Tuesday November 04, 2025 @10:17PM (#45818582)
While I don't 100% agree with his policies, I cannot be more excited for someone completely opposite of the corrupt establishment Republicans and Democrats.

I was sold when he was willing to back down on some of his own views publicly, admitting publicly that he was wrong on some things. That kind of admission and honesty is so refreshing.

Complete opposite of Trump, MAGA, and constant lies. Kudos NYC! Time for a new era.

> I know America is unwell when I see posts like this.

Yeah, this post indicates mental illness and not the President standing on stage saying, "They are eating the dogs, they are eating the cats" - perfectly normal /s.

No. But quacks diagnosing everything as TDS definitely have a mental illness.
> Snap, Chip, ssi, ssdi, medicaid, medicare (since recipients don't pay their way), ACA subsidies, progressive income tax (half of us pay no federal tax at all), 1-12 schooling/daycare (often with free lunch, sometimes also free breakfast)

Literally the things held hostage for politics right now? How can you claim America helps the poor when we are literally living a government shutdown where poor are held hostage?

> Big brothers/sisters, salvation army, habitat for humanity, red cross, food banks too numerous to list, Shriners hospitals

These are not government. This is about people helping people. Some American people are helpful to each other. But the societal unit of government isn't - aka - there are people who don't want to help others at all.

> America at least "pretends"

American people try really hard - especially in blue states. But American government system holds people hostage. The work requirements, the constant paperwork, the sudden ineligibility - this is all uniquely American - designed to not disburse the benefits that people may be entitled to. America has the pretence of programs but if they truly wanted to help the poor, they'd make the programs truly usable - not hostage to political processes and eligibility corner cases.

I'll tell you why you are wrong - you are wrong because you think that real socialism is only one that maps exactly to a prior example. You think it can't be real socialism if there is even one edge case that differs from a pre-existing example.

Your argument is a variant of the straw man fallacy. Look it up.

The US literally purchased shares of Intel - thus owning means of production.

The US also bails out a group of people all the time. The group is called the rich.

Furthermore, it subsidizes select groups like big ag.

Except these, the US is predominantly capitalistic but so was Argentina. Their populace was fed up with the pretense of helping the poor while bailing out oligarchs. America doesn't seem to pretend to help the poor. Poors are undesirables.

Libertarians and Conservatives can all wish for a smaller government and slash things apart in America - it's not going to change the fact that America is a corrupt socialist country which runs semis, bails out billionaires, subsidizes farmers, and uses taxpayer money to enrich business owners.

The only difference between American socialism and Argentinian socialism was that Argentinian socialism pretended to help the poor but America doesn't even pretend to help the poor.

Re:ICE Will Use AI to Surveil Social Media on Sunday October 26, 2025 @09:35PM (#45716521)
The answer is painfully obvious - rascism - the closeted Nazis are out in the open.

Although one must remember, they want to express their white supremacy but simultaneously not be called Nazis.

The fact that you chose to not disagree with the attempted coup is welcome.

I am not going to go off topic on Weimar republic - but it has been known since the time of Socrates - BC era - that a brainwashed populace is the one that enables authoritarianism.

> I see some violent protesters, but I don’t see a violent coup. You’re welcome to call that distinction without a difference, but it’s really not. We’ve had years of violent protest, that’s not what a coup is.

The motive and the location of the protest matters. They motive was to stop certification, but storming inside and blocking the certifiers - that is what separates a protest from a coup.

> From what you said, it was unplanned, but also run by the president of the United States of America. Who is incompetent, but who also secured the presidency not just once, but twice.

None of this takes away from the attempted coup.

> Either way, it doesn’t matter. He won again, with the majority of the vote. It doesn’t seem like the American people believe there was a coup attempt — or they don’t care. He’ll serve out his term, and the same arguments with different actors will play out all over again in 2028.

It matters. Why? Because the narcissist man has demonstrated that he is willing to egg people on to storm elected representatives to get his way. This is how Erdogan, Putin, Maduro operate. It might not matter to you - but maybe you care more about having Trump in office than the constitution. But this is not how a large number of people feel. You can keep pointing at election results as a definitive verdict of the people but elections are about the opposition too - not just about the person. The coup was about the person.

Anyway, I can't convince someone who can delude themselves when evidence is staring right at the face. But like someone else pointed out, this country is truly broken when 2 people look at the same video and cannot agree on the truth.

> I see a some violent protesters, but I don’t see a violent coup. You’re welcome to call that distinction without a difference, but it’s really not. We’ve had years of violent protest, that’s not what a coup is.

A violent protest could have happened at the National Mall, National Monument, White House, outside the Capitol. Why did they storm and go in at that exact time upon the egging of Trump? Of course to prevent the certification. The motive matters - in this case, the motive was to prevent certification - an attempted coup. You can't keep trying to brush around the edges when the motive itself was to prevent certification.

> The videos of inside the capital show the majority of people wandering around being idiots.

And why are you talking about a handful of clips inside the capitol when the link I posted show exactly how they destroyed barriers from the outside and stormed in? Could it be that your mind is unwilling to accept the reality?

>If you wanna keep re-litigating this for the next three years of Trump’s presidency, you’re welcome to do so, but it’s not going change anything, and clearly the American people weren’t too concerned about it when they voted him in.

I am not interested in re-litigating. However, I love the country enough to call out attempted coups. Coups are unacceptable. And I don't care what brainwashed people think either - because history is littered with stories of brainwashed populace willing themselves into wars and crises - see: Nazis.

Lots of wrong assumptions.

- If you think the other side isn't armed, you are foolish.

- The number of deaths doesn't define a failed coup attempt.

- The accusations are not accusations once you see the violence: https://www.reddit.com/r/CringeTikToks/comments/1oasyyt/this...

The only reason this coup attempt looks comical is because it was unplanned and led by Trump who is incompetent. It could have easily turned even worse - more deaths, more congress people running around, a traitor VP etc. Mike Pence truly saved the country by breaking ranks with Republicans.

> Have you watched any of the videos from January 6th? All I saw were a bunch of clueless morons behaving badly, but not violently, in the capital building while Trump literally told them to go home.

Ok, I will give you evidence that it was violent. But will you change your mind or still try to convince yourself by dancing around the edges?

https://www.reddit.com/r/CringeTikToks/comments/1oasyyt/this...

What they mean by "allowed" is that the President can and should be convicted of treason for preventing constitutional processes such as elections.

Brazil had the balls to do it. The fact that America didn't just shows that American constitution, democracy, and people are fragile. If people don't even want to protect their own constitution - the country is already a banana republic.

> I think it’s fascinating that you actually believe a coup is even remotely possible, much less the actual intent.

Once again, are you not aware of Jan 6? What do you think happens in a third-world coups?

Do you think its tanks protecting the coup-master like some blockbuster movie? No. Most coups are subtle - simply by a narcissist not letting go of their seat. Once that happens and people inevitably come to revolt, they call on to their own supporters to protect "freedom".

This was America on Jan 6, 2021. We'll see how the next one transition fares.

They used taxpayer money to help the original investors into Argentina who invested a few years ago. It went to wall street.
Jan 6 was a brazen attempt at a coup. It was Mike Pence who refused to break the country for the narcissist's demands - which was the only reason Biden could be sweared in.

We were very close to a third world level coup thanks to Trump back in 2021.

This time around, the call could be in JD Vance's hands - the same person supporting Republicans blocking the swearing in of a house representative.

For all the dirty partisan things you point out about democrats, they have never attempted a coup. If you think our country and constitution is worth fighting for, you too will not support coup candidates, pedophiles, unitary executives, and separation of church and state.

As it stands, if you support republicans, you are against the above principles, regardless of your whataboutism.
