Because it has too many big words. Make a version written for children and the media might be able to understand the implications.
Re:Dear Comcast, I'm leaving you because... on Tuesday January 24, 2012 @05:07PM (#3507130)
I don't know if it's generally true, but it's true for me. If there was a viable alternative in my area, I'd switch. I live in a condo, and satellite is not an option. DSL is crappy due to our old phone lines. I'm stuck getting price gouged by Comcast.

THANK YOU! I feel the same way. Why is it that people who supposedly love programming are somehow expected to no longer want to be programmers at some point in their career? Being a great manager / team leader takes a whole different skill set than being a great coder.
Re:I'll tell you why movie revenue is dropping... on Thursday December 29, 2011 @01:44PM (#3404744)
I'll tell you the two major reasons I don't go. 1: Nothing worth seeing and 2: When it IS worth seeing, it's not worth the price of the movie and concessions. I can get a 12 pack of soda for what they charge for a "small". No thanks. I'll wait for the DVD. I can buy the DVD for the price of getting into the movie anyway.
Re:Ask HN: Please stop "This." on Wednesday November 16, 2011 @05:58PM (#3245537)
It's a shorter way to write "I completely agree with you, and I want people to know it, but I have nothing left to add". Language and expression changes, especially in the world of Twitter and social media. People want to be part of a group and express agreement. It's nothing more than a nod, expressed verbally. I'm not annoyed by people who nod in agreement.

Mine's 0 until they rescind that name policy.
Re:Most Customers Don’t Give 2nd Chances on Tuesday August 09, 2011 @11:21AM (#2864331)
I think the more accurate statement is that most first-time customers don't give you a second chance. Personally, if I have had good times with a company, I am more likely to tolerate issues than if the bad thing happens on my first try with them.
Re:The Fallacy of Modern Web Development on Tuesday August 02, 2011 @02:38PM (#2838222)
The author is premature in such sweeping praise.

"They prove that a buttery-smooth UI is not impossible to build on the web."

In my opinion, this application has not proven such a thing (yet), since it doesn't work in IE. I don't build UIs that don't work in IE.

"It shouldn’t be a magical surprised that a good, no-compromise UX is possible on the web."

And yet, currently it DOES compromise. It doesn't work in what is currently the leading browser.

Don't get me wrong, I hate IE and the iCloud application is nice and slick. But it's not currently a viable UX for the most popular browser in use, and therefore is not a viable UX for many web applications. Yet. I have hope for them, though. It does look promising.

I am unimpressed by a UX that displays a message that IE8 support is coming soon as being something so awesome.

Re:C++ at Google: Here Be Dragons on Monday May 23, 2011 @06:32PM (#2577860)
And the error says it's an int, but it's declared long. Am I missing something about long in C++ not being 64 bits?
