Wonder how much of this is due to shitty ads everywhere. (App Store, Maps, Sports.app, ...)

Agree. Fuck off to billionaire island already. Instead we get "casual destroy the government".
He's saving it as kompromat.
It is NY Post after all

EDIT: Looks like link now points to NYT

I can see it now. A US national security program to get future CEOs laid more. What.
what happens if he just tells us what it is?
Re:Lula wins election after final votes tallied on Tuesday October 27, 2026 @01:10AM (#50254921)
So you're saying it's possible?
Re:Lula wins election after final votes tallied on Monday October 26, 2026 @08:58PM (#50253418)
No it doesn't. And you citing a government debt stat doesn't prove it. As a counter-example, the UK set up the NHS in 1948 when their public debt was over 200% of GDP.

But there's also a religious fundamentalist faction, no? Which I recently learned was fomented by the CIA years ago under Reagan (when the Catholic church was moving left and the "US" was afraid of Brazil moving to the left as well)

Re:Lula wins election after final votes tallied on Sunday October 25, 2026 @09:17PM (#50237843)
moving to the right would be a trap. (cf. Dem party vs Trump) The left must instead build an anti-right wing narrative. People vote on material benefits so delivering more of those should be top priority—I think Trumps slump in the US proves that.
Re:The Best Monopoly Strategy, Tested on 300M Games [video] on Saturday October 24, 2026 @02:26AM (#50218770)
They don't say what the strategy is in the comments (duh) but I seem to remember a similar study from years ago saying the optimal strategy was to always buy if you can.

Meta, but one rule I was surprised to learn: if someone doesn't buy a property when they land on it, it is immediately auctioned off by the bank.

Yeah and I'm saying you're doing a bit of victim blaming. For one the US fucked up those countries and their economies making it desirable to flee to the US. Maybe the US should stop meddling and we'd have fewer people coming here.

ah.. that awkward Tim + Bono.... finger whatever that was
Re:Apple Music 404 Not Found on Saturday October 24, 2026 @02:18AM (#50218744)
Would be funny if this was an iPod OS emulator
I don't understand your question TBH. What would these countries do?
Crossing the border illegally (for now) is a civil misdemeanor and seeking asylum is legal under US and international law.

> Does the country they are fleeing have no culpability?

The US definitely has some culpability for making other places harder to live in.

> Why are they leaving?

They're not doing it just for funsies.

Don't be scared of these guys. I think calling out fascism/racism is always good. Why? For one it sets a counter-example to the "racism is ok" narrative. It must be opposed publicly.

> never underestimate right-wingers sense of victimhood

Exactly, the right will play victim anyway. Not calling them out or even saying "well, other people are racist too" is arguing on their terms. Looking for racism among other parties to capitulate to the right is not an effective use of our time.

Curious who he'd recommend if it was, say, Mamdani for prez.
Meta has interfered with elections before, we know the Trump admin wants Bolsonaro Jr in power, and the US establishment has supported anti-socialism in Brazil in the past. (The CIA agitated against Lula under Reagan, for example)

Is it overly conspiratorial to think the Meta is doing what they're accused of on behalf of the US?

Wondering why this was flagged--seems of public interest. Is it not authentic? (@dang)
> The issue of sites like this is their one-sided nature

Are you saying that outing racists is one-sided and will create sympathy for them?

Re:Porsche Mission S on Friday October 16, 2026 @03:19AM (#50115200)
I think a few things.. (but I am not a policy expert)

1. Governments pulling back on EV transition leading to car companies pulling back from EVs as well. For example, some companies that had previously said "we've designed out last gas engine" now are designing new ones.

2. Turns out gas + EV can be even better than pure electric for a sports car (so I gather)

3. People who drives cars like this DGAF about emissions

Re:Porsche Mission S on Friday October 16, 2026 @03:17AM (#50115186)
Is this a Jony Ive collab? Sure seems there are a lot of similarities to the Ferrari Luce.
Re:Porsche Mission S on Friday October 16, 2026 @03:17AM (#50115174)
The marketing page says it's mid-engined. Maybe it's one of these newer hybrids not designed for range for but performance boost especially a low RPMs where the gas engine last immediate torque.

Everything in here is unfounded. Unless you have sources?

Thanks for the link!
meta: if you are a heretic like me, use a proportional coding font. (in 2026 we can move past 80-column terminal style coding)

for this, i like Input Sans a lot.
