I have a 55" LG Wallpaper signage display on my living room wall right now, with just an Apple TV plugged in, and it's fantastic. Cost $5000, 3.65mm thick, no smart features at all.
That's the writer, it's the US Attorney who has to kiss the boot.
"The resolution is a lever."
"Optimize the jobs that gate other work " ... "We gate on those checks at the job level" ... "We moved that write into a job that runs once the test shards finish but gates nothing"
Was there some vast corpus of training input that made Claude think that people commonly use "gate" to mean "block"?
1/6 the price, if they're right – that's a logarithmic cost-axis on the graph that shows Opus 5.5 medium matching Fable 5.1 max...
Technically right is the best kind of right?
He resigned from OpenAI to join Anthropic in May; it's Anthropic he resigned from just before making the announcement being discussed in this article.
ENTIC and ORIZ would make more orthographic sense...
or 4entic5 and 4oriz5, inverting the k8s, i18n pattern...
pronounced "forentics" and "forizes"...
somebody stop me!
What the hell is "right drag"?
Little extra "fun" anecdote: my building has two banks of eight elevators, each servicing 20 or so floors, and has six destination dispatch kiosks: one at each end and the middle of each bank. The kiosks originally had nice metal buttons for each floor and you could easily tap yours as you walked by.
Sometime during Covid, the metal buttons were replaced with glass touch screens – which are totally unreadable on sunny days, because in our stunning glass-ceilinged atrium mezzanine they sit directly in sunbeams[0]. So now you have to walk up to the kiosk, shade it with your body, and squint at the screen to make out where to touch it.

I have done this for years – it looks much better to me than an em dash – so it's nice to have some authority to cite!
Especially unspaced—this is just way too close—I can't even read it.
My 55" LG Wallpaper signage display is pretty much perfect – it just has HDMI in from an Apple TV and never bothers me. But, it takes ~10 seconds to turn on after a signal is detected, since it was never meant to be turned off!
Well, yeah – if the door's open for 30 seconds with no-one in the seat. How long should that battery-powered vehicle try to air condition the entire planet before giving up? If the driver wants a cold cabin, why don't they close the door?
This is ragebait.
Citing Aphyr's analysis of a pre-release version of Redis-Raft as though it applied to a shipped product is so disingenuous as to invalidate this whole post. The
very next sentence after the one he quoted is
> We emphasize, again, that these are all internal development builds: Redis-Raft has no production users, so the real-world impact of these issues is negligible.
and of the 21 errors he found, 20 were already fixed before he published his review.
You don't need an ORM for any of that, just a query builder. In Python e.g. you can use SQLAlchemy Core instead of the SQLAlchemy ORM.
I think they meant "evoked", for which Merriam Webster has
1: to call forth or up: such as
a: to bring to mind or recollection
b: to cite especially with approval or for support
Maybe April Fool's Day was the wrong day to release that.
Hi, using the app now and it's been great fun. (Now if my wife would actually take an exit so we could eat!)
However, we're on 290 E and it's showing me the exits that are behind us – as if it thinks we're westbound. Is there any way to convince it we're not?
And for my iPod touch! I was prepared to keep using it around the house – it's so much lighter than a phone – but I was worried about leaving it logged into iCloud Keychain if it wasn't going to get this fix.
It's "Daylight Saving", not "Savings".
The "funniest" thing about this is that in any other context, this administration absolutely insists that everyone should be called only by their legal name, not any other name that they prefer because they think it better suits their identity.
It's a bit more than zero, because I have substantial tooling around Claude Code – subagents, skills, containerization, &c – that I'd have to (have Opus...) reimplement.
Wow, instant bookmark. Thanks!
And they had it solved! 3D Touch worked perfectly – you pushed the screen hard to get a cursor, moved it to the start of the selection, and pushed hard again to drag to the end. They killed it because "not all iPhones had the hardware to support it" or something.
