News for hackers. Stuff that matters.

Are Russia really the adversary? The US just bought Diesel fuel from them. While they have sanctions on them.

Unfortunately the days of the US being an ally of the Netherlands is over.

It’s the Russians that hacked his iPhone:

“The GRU hacked into Jared Kushner's iPhone. Dutch military intelligence (MIVD) then recruited a GRU spy who gave them access to the hacked phone”

Thought that’s more about the art, voice and music. The more artistic side of things.
McLaren had this with the Speedtail and all the owners hated it. Main problem being you need to park the car in a very specific spot.

There’s always some claiming this after any iOS/MacOS update only for it to quietly disappear until the next upgrade.
Re:Giving up on smart rings on Tuesday September 15, 2026 @12:57PM (#49715393)
My experience with devices with very small batteries is that they lose capacity (below 80%) quickly after a couple of years of daily use. By the time you need the ring resized, the battery might be worn out anyway.

It’s in reality a disposable product unfortunately, unlike a wedding band.

Well there’s UBlock for Safari, yeah it’s not UBlock Origin but it’s not that nothing is available. https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/ublock-origin-lite/id674534269...

Also Brave supports per site JavaScript blocking on iOS.

So there’s more privacy tools available than you think/assume.

“The breaks indicate a very large area of impact and devastation,” she says. “It’s likely the individual was killed by a siege engine.”

So it’s likely, which means it’s not confirmed as the headline implies.

At least it gives a legal framework for prosecution.
Very cool, but video looks accelerated and something about the robot shading/lighting gives it a rendered feel.
Russia has been moving to more use of jet drones, as Ukraine is having a lot of success with these interceptors. Hope they’ll innovate their way to a new inceptor for those, to protect their civilian infrastructure.
Re:Organic Maps on Monday July 06, 2026 @03:50AM (#48801796)
Looking at the OrganicMaps app on iOS and it seems to be free, with an option for donations in the menu . What does OrganicMap specifically do in order to make profit?
I’m not convinced anymore that we can handle freedom. Many children grow up glued to a phone or tablet watching AI videos and are targets of dis-information from foreign and/or hostile actors.
Re:The World of Harmonics – With a Coffee, Guitar and Synth on Saturday February 14, 2026 @10:23AM (#47015181)
Cool that’s the guy behind MyNoise. The background audio generator. Nature sounds, Synths, Ambient, ETC. Has mobile apps as well.
MyNoise.Net is also very good.
They didn’t so was propably misread. Reading the article it doesn’t mention Tesla in the 12 year graph. But it is mentioned in the 5 year category.
Re:Starship's Sixth Flight Test on Wednesday November 06, 2024 @02:47PM (#42068216)
Is there such a need for a heavy launch rocket to launch routinely?
Thought most products with batteries undergo a standard set of test procedures to catch these things. It’s a known risk, increased significantly with toasty wireless charging involved.

It also had the world’s tallest aluminium mast, which snapped, upsetting the balance. Windows broke so flooding commenced.

Just because it’s unlikely doesn’t mean we should go straight for conspiracies.

His wife gave a statement about the storm and capsizing. The woman who hit the guy in her car stayed at the accident and is cooperating.

Re:IT tycoon Mike Lynch, daughter Hannah found dead on Thursday August 22, 2024 @02:28AM (#41317393)
Did you not read the statement of his wife? So explains in detail the storm.
Re:IT tycoon Mike Lynch, daughter Hannah found dead on Thursday August 22, 2024 @02:26AM (#41317382)
No, statements made set it was anchored far out.
Re:IT tycoon Mike Lynch, daughter Hannah found dead on Thursday August 22, 2024 @02:25AM (#41317374)
His wife mentioned windows breaking. A comment above has her statements.

The mast was the tallest aluminium mast on a yacht, it snapped and fell down which upset the balance of the yacht.

The yacht had the 2nd tallest mast (tallest aluminium mast). The tornado/waterspout snapped the mast, which made the ship unbalanced and capsize. It sank quickly after that.

Not that out of the ordinary. There was another waterspout photographed in Italy that same day; they’re not that uncommon.

Still makes me sad, that a private company's chat platform is a commonly used comms/support platform.
Re:Why I use Firefox on Wednesday February 28, 2024 @09:36AM (#39538469)
There’s addons that can do this.

Sideberry is what I use: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-GB/firefox/addon/sidebery

Further advanced research into atomic weapons would be one worry.
Wonder what the difference is with Proxmox and if there’s any optimisation done here that I can manually recreate in my Proxmox environment.

That’s where competitive motorsports development helps:
