Hey dang, what about this one?
Re:Leaving Tech on Monday October 12, 2026 @11:26PM (#50066246)
Thanks, that’s what my point was. It wasn’t really meant to be personal. I’ve updated it.
Re:Leaving Tech on Monday October 12, 2026 @11:25PM (#50066234)
It wasn’t meant to be personal. I don’t know this person. I was commenting in general. I’ll edit it.

Then let them already. Relocate all the work to India. I’m tired of US companies threatening everyone with job losses. Just fucking do it already.
Re:Does Costco Cause Cancer? on Sunday October 04, 2026 @06:34PM (#49958642)
> The only way to stop cancer is to murder everyone.

I’ve also proposed this as a solution to climate change but people seem to like their kids too much.

Re:Everyone's Packing Up on Friday October 02, 2026 @08:06PM (#49940136)
Wait… gopher is still a thing?
Oh, like the 23 year old Stanford grad who had hundreds of hours to cram leetcode and now grills 50+ year old senior software engineers on leetcode hard? :D
Why is no one going to jail?
This wasn’t an error, it’s voter suppression.
Because that requires x86 hardware which some people no longer have.
People need to stop subjecting themselves to that. Eventually companies would get the message.
Re:Diesel prices could crush Republicans in the heartland on Tuesday September 22, 2026 @05:36PM (#49808485)
Oh. Darn. Anyways.
God I wish they’d just shut the fuck up and go public already so all the fear mongering and hype to pump the stock could go away.
Yeah I mean, believe me, if I could cut the portion of my tax dollars that went to war to zero, I’d do so in a heartbeat. That’s just not how it works in the US though under either party.
Rack mounted Mac Studios!
People pay $100k/mo for fucking Wordpress in 2026?
Re:Feeling Sad about AI on Friday September 11, 2026 @01:54PM (#49662494)
They’re not selling their own slice of labor though. They’re effectively employees that have to pay a bunch of costs that would be covered by their employer if they were classified correctly.
Re:ex-OpenAI Researcher Quits Anthropic over AI Safety Fears on Wednesday September 09, 2026 @12:36AM (#49621053)
I wish I were rich enough off of AI that I could just quit my job and go off into the sunset.
Re:Making software hurts now on Monday September 07, 2026 @01:57PM (#49601048)
Ooof, people need to get a grip. Whether they like it or not, AI assisted development is the future. If that’s not a future you want to be a part of, open source or otherwise, find something else to do.

The trades are hiring. Maybe start a farm. Report back with how much it “hurts”.

86 tonnes worth of gold is about $12.25 billion, or approximately what Nvidia paid for HuggingFace.
Re:Retirement Is Dead on Wednesday September 02, 2026 @05:24PM (#49542779)
> Instead of 7.5%, make it 10% or even 15%, 20%, whatever it takes. that takes self discipline out of the equation and fixes the imbalance between spending and saving.

No thanks, I’d rather it be half what it is now in the US with the other half be investable by myself. Just putting that into an index fund would have resulted in significantly better returns.

Re:A Small Telescope That Surprised Me on Wednesday September 02, 2026 @12:00PM (#49538281)
I’m more exhausted at hearing about how sick of LLM writing people are. Just don’t read it, save everyone time.
Does it seem like companies just aren’t that well run anymore? I mean, companies seem to be having massive layoffs and placing ever more work on the remaining employees. At what point will the remaining employees just collapse?

Are we just reverting to the mean after years of zero interest rate policy? Would love for folks with experience working in tech in the 90s and 00s especially to chime in.

Shame that the local residents that are angry at data centers being built near them voted for politicians that… don’t give a shit if data centers are built near them.

Katherine’s husband sounds like a good guy.
Re:Stop Making TUIs on Saturday August 22, 2026 @01:30AM (#49396833)
No.
That would have been the fix a decade ago, the debt is too high now and the economy too weak.
Any day now.
