Because some HNers like to pretend discussions on single axis are fruitful.
Re:Mistral Large 4 on Tuesday October 06, 2026 @01:29PM (#49981561)
That is the entire point I'm trying to make. You can win the argument by being pedantic about the precise thing you were saying, or we can recognize the broader implication of what you are suggesting people to do. Only economically viable means nothing when it comes to life decisions.
Re:Mistral Large 4 on Tuesday October 06, 2026 @11:43AM (#49980200)
People always make this case, if you're not satisfied then move. As someone who has changed countries twice and continents once, I can attest it's not an easy or convenient thing to do. Money or lifestyle is one thing, but you're also leaving behind family and culture. Statements like these are so dismissive to that struggle that it's almost offensive to me.
Re:Pi 1.0 on Sunday October 04, 2026 @05:10AM (#49952044)
Then don't use it like that. Ask for summaries and links. That's what I do. You don't have to use llms like magic.
Re:Pi 1.0 on Saturday October 03, 2026 @07:56AM (#49943471)
> You stop worrying about whether something is correct or not, or how it works and just give in to the vibes,

Are you sure about that? All llm use is like this?

Re:Pi 1.0 on Friday October 02, 2026 @05:58AM (#49931733)
Not all LLM use is vibe coding.
Re:Ember-1 on Sunday September 27, 2026 @05:44PM (#49871174)
Better yet package it up in a skill!

And if you want to get to at least the bottom most visible turtle you go with something like NAND to Tetris https://www.nand2tetris.org/
How did facebook make its way into education like this? Can you explain to an outsider?

Who's deciding for anybody?
Re:Claude is no longer available for minors on Friday September 11, 2026 @03:07PM (#49663687)
The plethora of AI psychosis reports. The existence of my boyfriend is AI subreddit and almost all the content on it.

LLMs can barely identify gaps in their own software designs, and they are provably good at making software.

Re:Claude is no longer available for minors on Friday September 11, 2026 @08:44AM (#49657490)
The need is not in question, the solution is. This annoying glaze machine is not it for mental health tasks.
I don't think this is hard to understand. The biggest employers in America have people who are on food stamps. When we deprive people of resources, what else do we expect?
Yeah but what exactly are we to do? If the bar for proof is so high, there isn't a way to meet it as these things are super complex. I'm all for being rational but at some point we need to accept something is stupid and stop trying to prove it so we can do something about it. What I observe up and down this thread is a demand for very specific evidence for something which is stupid on its face.
Does it? I've tried so many versions of this in custom instructions.
He was not government. He was not elected. He was just a random person given the reign of the entire government spending. This whole setup was stupid.
Re:No constitutional right to clean water, federal court finds on Monday September 07, 2026 @03:46PM (#49602198)
> If there was documented, provable harm done to the residents from the lead poisoning (not saying there isn’t, I just don’t know), they could surely win a civil case claiming negligence by the city and/or water treatment facilities/etc

I would never understand this system. So to get repatriation on damage done a citizen has to mount an entire legal initiative. Even if the guilt is already proved. It just feels like a system where departments of government will only sue to fill their own budget next year.

Re:Discovery of a new OpenAI agent message board on Sunday September 06, 2026 @05:52AM (#49584876)
If you actually accomplish something like this your post will be on top of HN and discussed with reverence.

Source: Every Tom7 video.

I am not saying someone trying to run this as production would not be an asshole, but the technical feat is amazing. I don't see the difference between Tom7's harder hard disk video and this. Of course this is a bug in the agent but it's a fascinating bug and no one is being an asshole on purpose.

Now I will wash my fingers with bleach because I just defended the OpenAI.

I see both feet and animation.
Re:ChatGPT Work Tool and Skill Reference on Monday August 31, 2026 @11:02AM (#49510633)
I think these guideline are built into the llms. After all with llms, any decision you don't take will be taken for you. For a so called slop site (Simon's words, not mine :P) I don't think they specified a style so the llm just decided the default it knows. One day I will run experiments (when I can afford it) trying to identify the "taste" of different llms.
Re:ChatGPT Work Tool and Skill Reference on Monday August 31, 2026 @10:57AM (#49510572)
I'm guessing, but can be because then the skill will always fetch the latest docs.
Re:OpenClaw 2.0, Accidentally on Monday August 31, 2026 @08:52AM (#49509115)
But hermes agent can do whatever openclaw can. At least in my experience. Then why delegate to claw and not just a hermes profile?
Re:OpenClaw 2.0, Accidentally on Monday August 31, 2026 @07:39AM (#49508470)
Just want to make it clear that what I am talking about is not mass spamming. The agent gets a list of jobs from various portals through a script, and then through an google sheets they can be marked to be further processed. Neither me or my wife feel comfortable completely automating anything. But its much easier to see dashboards and give instructions on how to build things from master resumes than it is to do this repetitive part yourself.
Re:OpenClaw 2.0, Accidentally on Monday August 31, 2026 @07:33AM (#49508432)
The same way we know its doing anything correctly, reviewing its work and prealigning guidelines. Make sure you click the submit button yourself.
Re:OpenClaw 2.0, Accidentally on Monday August 31, 2026 @03:59AM (#49506875)
This is my pet peeve. All the disastrous failures get reported big, but the news doesn't report when a system just quitely does the task.
Re:OpenClaw 2.0, Accidentally on Monday August 31, 2026 @03:40AM (#49506768)
Job search and language learning. The job market for juniors and mid level is crazy. Everyone has a different form to fill out with the same questions. My wife has countered this by using Hermes and some handcrafted master files/db.

I personally use the Matt Pocock teaching skill to learn dutch, passed reading using it, on track to pass writing with it.

Bro we recently saw the trailer for GTA 6. I personally work on machines which have to compensate for relativistic effects of individual photons in real time. I am not sure how else to prove that we are doing more advanced in making software systems.

Disingenuous? Plagiarism? Care to explain? I dont even understand what you mean by these words in this context.
