Just legalize murder and you will have no more criminal murderers.
Most Americans have an IQ of around 100.

You can say the exact same thing about a bank robber "who has a family, whose spouse might be an American citizen, who might have American citizen kids, grandkids, friends, employers, they might own a company and contribute to the economy".

Entangling yourself into society doesn't absolve you of crimes.

Illegal entry is a felony. Unlawful presence is a misdemeanor which carries the penalty of deportation. Trying to downplay it and liken it to minor infractions tells me everything I need to know.

I am in favor of deporting all illegal aliens. Apply the law equally.

left = good! right = bad! amirite?
Re:Desire to Move Permanently to U.S. at New Low on Friday October 16, 2026 @06:15PM (#50125478)
Deporting someone who broke the law is not a moral atrocity. Is it unethical to arrest and jail a bank robber who has established themselves in a community?

These people knowingly and deliberately broke the law, and they continue to deliberately elude enforcement. The problem is that we've been too soft on enforcement, leading to millions upon millions of them assuming they are exempt from the law.

This is not true. Maybe it's unpopular in your circles, but deporting illegal aliens is broadly popular with the American public.

One of the worst ideas I've ever seen, and completely out of touch with American workers.

Wrongthink should be banned!
Native Americans didn't form the United States of America.
> Why do people "break the law" to come to the US

They are economic migrants without the means or desire to immigrate legally.

> how do their coming affect you negatively?

They depress blue-collar wages for my fellow Americans. They increase competition for housing. They increase the burden on services like medical and education. I could go on and on...

Yeah Republicans bad, Democrats good! Undeniable fact! Upvote please!
The fact that this comment hasn't been flagged goes to show how ridiculous hn has become. I know we are not supposed to say "hn has become reddit", but hn has become reddit.

Why would I want to turn the country at the forefront of technology and innovation into a stagnating socialist welfare state like the countries you are holding up as role models?
Re:Four simple rules behind Japan's most liveable cities on Friday August 07, 2026 @11:18AM (#49211789)
Honolulu and Atlanta are the most livable cities in the US? Give me a break. It doesn't pass the smell test at all. The methodology is obviously biased. No matter if it has been around for years or not.
That's exactly what this person wanted to start.

Yes, it tells me the methodology is biased.
Good, we need to bolster our immigration enforcement. We have millions of illegal aliens who all need to be removed.

Sounds great.

Also latency looks very good.

I don't need to be spoonfed opinions. I can see millions of illegal aliens living in my country.
Re:U.S. government will decide who gets to use GPT-5.6 on Tuesday June 30, 2026 @02:00PM (#48736608)
They are in the US with us, and you want to give them amnesty.
It's not "absurd"... you're confusing moral value with economic scale.

A $1T founder is rewarded for building a massive system that employs hundreds of thousands of people, moved technological progress forward dramatically, and has positively affected the lives millions.

A doctor provides life-saving care, but they are physically limited to helping one person at a time. A backup NBA forward might not save lives, but their work is broadcast and monetized across millions of screens at once.

Arguing that entertainment is "non-productive" ignores human nature. People gladly pay to be entertained. If sports have no value, do you feel the same way about books, art, and movies?

One of the few roles a "small government" should actually take on is defending from invaders.
