This can be a reason too. There is an another reason, they want some govt involvement because good relationship with govt, so govt will help them with public money, when the bubble bursts.
As I read, this OpenAI and Anthropic slowdown and asking government to help regulate them is an attempt to govt bail them out when bubble burst. Otherwise why they did not want regulations when starting out?
I do not thing anything wrong with this statement, do LLM model know about objects on a table? are they conscious? they are just glorified pattern matchers, we get amazed due to their sophisticated and large pattern matching capability.
We cannot blame just LLM models, it is brains nature to save energy. If agent did tasks consistently good, our brain try to delegate cognitive load to the model to save energy. After consistent use of LLMs anyone can have tendency commit slop just reviewing at high level, this is specially true with busy lifestyle. Also AI generated code do not give dopamine just like solving problems we did before LLMs, we tend to get lazy. Strict discipline is necessary to make good use of LLMs in order to not commit slop and not to make us dumb.
> For the first time in my career, I acted as a senior product manager, steering the project along the right roadmap. Without AI, I wouldn't have been able to do that.
This may be Dunning–Kruger effect in action. (this is not an insult, but showing cognitive biases)

Even though I use AI selectively, there are great engineering who do not use AI ex: Jake Wharton [1]
Major problem with AI blunt your critical thinking, in order to use AI mindfully, you should have critical thinking, but usage of it blunt the very thing. What an irony?

May be it is because of DHH. Not sure why did they canceled measly $50 for Gnome.
I used to admire these two people when I was a teen, but look at them now. Where is their goal to do good?. May be money really blind people. Why cannot they just spend 5% onetime? I'm wondering how much they will spend if there is recurring tax of 40%?
These oligarchs have enormous power over us, at least impose 50% recurring tax as a start. In 19s tax rates were really high (even 94%)
I also recently requested for data exports on all platforms before deleting the history. Claude and Google ones came quickly while OpenAI took about two days, I'm suspicious, may be it's their worker scheduling?
Health affect all others. Also I would love to have a quiet mind, those who do not have it know why.
I also noticed this, login prompt seems to have added recently.
Also you cannot anonymously scroll on mobile browser for long, prompts to install the app.
> What an ahistorical thing to say
I know about dynasties expanding centuries some was prosperous others were not, same goes for European monarchies, amount of killing, abuse, looting done in colonies is staggering even though about most boast about how they conquered this and that.

I find cats interesting they have different personas kind of similar to humans than dogs who are people pleasing.
Aside from that world should be like this[1], where Chinese and Americans work together.

I'm not Chinese, but I'm confused why people think Xi Jin Ping is worse, yes they have surveillance, there is single party authoritarianism, but they always take care of their people unlike US who when filthy rich getting rich, more and more on homeless on the streets. In addition to that there is surveillance by Flock and Palatir. Most of all they do not let corporation to manage govt, even though their big corps like Alibaba has tried. They have to wage the wars to capture someones natural resources, unlike US holding Iraq oil revenue captive, manage Venezuelan oil. Not to mention helping genocide with trillions.
Funny thing, I recently saw comment under Turkey cat video, saying something like
> Stray cats in live better than homeless in US.
I won't be surprised EU banning Chinese models at all, because EU govt.s also hate China just like US.
I'm not surprised by the hypocrisy of western govt.s, "it is good when they do, bad others do. Only western lives are precious not Palestians, etc."
US may not take Iran under them, but they will grip the Iran's economy by controlling their oil and gas resources. It is what US doing in Irque, all oil sales going through bank of New York, they not only take cuts from sales but also make threats like we would not send dollars if you did not do this and that.
US involvement in the Middle East has ruined those countries. It is not a just middle east where ever they involve they ruin others ex: Trump's Congo deal which locked in their mineral for decade without any benefit to poor Congos
Lot keep grinding leetcode to get six figures and FAANG on resume, most do not have moral compass, they are no different than politicians who get AIPAC money.
Actually this is not specific to rich or US, this is behavior in most of western countries. This started with colonialism, where one consider superior than others in every aspect, so they can do whatever they please. Many are still blinded by this ego, which is the reason for current geopolitical stability. We should understand that sometimes we are the problem. Simon Sinek have great talk with historical example on this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VWEI9FDf-0g
Problem is even today many people still have this colonial mindset, that some are superior in every aspect than others, which is a shame. Many of the current geopolitical problems stem from this.
Everyone is rooting for wars till we all die from environmental degregation.
All this due to US want to be hegemon, based all around the world. Why cannot live in harmony with others in a multi-polar world?
