"I laugh at the author because i have different vision than everybody else"
why stop there? Why not complain about the wealthy individuals over at Wall Street or Silicon Valley syndicates? Or how about the amount of food waste that occurs everyday?
You're argument barely makes a blip. Perhaps if you should choose not to browse reddit or hacker news at least 3 times per week to save the environment.
If i am a chef, sometimes I'm tired and just want to order take out. Same applies for a dev posting on medium
You don't understand that medium gets more traffic than someone's personal website.
i'm not sure why this guy thinks Floyd would care what he thinks.
nobody cares about more men in elementary schools and nursing because its about equal representation in power and influence that comes with wealth.
to be fair, they probably didn't read the original post
What do you consider the best industry for women?
None?
the problem is that liberals in the tech industries loves to pick and choose what constitutes as diversity while pretending that it accepts everyone.
interesting post, I'm sure this will ruffle a lot of feathers in the Tech scene.
But kudos on the audacity.
After years of professional experience and if you're a high contributing employee, then it doesn't matter. If you're a middle or slightly below average contributor then these things do factor in.
it's pretty well known if you go to a top university, then you're more likely to get interviews if you don't have much professional experience outside internships.
I'm not saying you can't work at Google from a no-name university, but but there is a steeper hill.
Once you have like 7+ years of professional experience, then education matters less.
She goes to MIT by the way. (not saying she doesn't deserve it)
I bet if she went to some no-name university and people saw her pole dancing then her employment would be more limited
>This world is getting so fucked up
it already is. Just visit parts of Mexico
These two are very different and don't compete in the same space as Jobs vs Gates.
Musk is a generation above Zuckerberg. 13 years older. Musk is better as an innovator while Zuckerberg is better at business. Zuck has like 69 Billion while Musk has about 16 Billion
did you have wifi on the bus?
i've been working in the midwest, but I don't doubt that networking is much better in the Bay Area / Seattle.
midwest. My starting pay was only a couple thousand below my my university's CS program's average (wasn't the strongest student coming out), but it was within range of glassdoor reviews. I stayed at for 2.5 years at each role.
I don't get people who say, "Well I would never hire someone who has never worked more than 5 years at a single place!!!"
I would never have increased my from $68k to $115k in 5 years.I probably would've been somewhere at like $80k right now at best if I was didn't switch jobs twice.
If it means some hiring manager is going say some snarky opinion, then yes I'll take my extra money.
Every apology will always sound like a cop out and be criticized. There will never be a good apology letter. It doesn't exist
if you fly to another country, you will be subject to roaming fees. In that case, it maybe easier to just hail a cab depending on which country you are in
you're just going to throw out Teo's name out there but not name anything sleazy he's done? Not even one example?
Driverless trucks aren't going to 100% perfect. They just need to be significantly safe and more reliable than humans.
Humans get sleepy, get emotional, zone out, and make all kinds of mistakes all the time.
The first generation of driverless trucks will still have a human as passenger to be backup in case of mistakes. You may be thinking, "What's the point if there will still be a human there? s/he might as well drive." Well, humans still need breaks and can help give feedback to Truck for it to improve.
The first generation won't be perfect, but it will be on its way.
yes, remember when that New York Times article came out about Amazon's toxic work environment?
Every employee has a different experience. A huge of chunk of Amazon's employees said they didn't recognize the type described in the New York Times. There is a huge bias when you're interviewing former employees. It is largely possible a number of theses former employees were actually low performing (hiring mistakes do happen) who deserved to be fired and/or had problems building relatinships with their fellow coworks/supervisors.
Uber's situation could be similar to Amazon's.
I'm not saying Travis or Uber is completely innocent. I'm just saying we don't have all the facts and often times the media does get it wrong and have their own motivations to slant the truth.
paper? What is this 1995?
with software, you profit more if you do it right because you need less overhead
you can't really buy employees. They can choose to quit right after.
okay, so its fine to treat unskilled labor and temp workers poorly?
Gotcha.
Does Apple have a messenger that can support both messages and video? They have Messages and FaceTime but they are separate apps and only if you have an apple device
Jerry also bought the Alibaba shares in 2001 which is the reason why Yahoo is even alive.
After he left, Yahoo made the mistake of selling half of the Alibaba which are worth $36 Billion.
