This is awesome and needs to be known as The Way.

Lol wut, you just did... Keep going!

"But" nothing, you just brought that up!

One dead guy is pretty dismissive too... Are you okay with the dismemberment part of his deadness? It's a significant detail here, for an entertainment company.

Doez Israel own an EA competitor?

Why did you bring this up???

Nice !!!

Q: Is there a easy way for average people to recognize these live super-deep fakes?

I know I could run the content through a fingerprint detector. However, I'm a professional software engineer...not a normal user.

What's the ethical impact of this technology??

Re:Genie 4 on Tuesday October 27, 2026 @03:57PM (#50264893)
In what sense, the commenter .. or the reality of Ads?
Re:iPhone Duo Teardown on Monday October 26, 2026 @11:00PM (#50254240)
Get a used one and try it for a month.
Re:iPhone Duo Teardown on Monday October 26, 2026 @10:56PM (#50254214)
I like mine. Obvious reason: moar screen!

Get one used and roll with it for a month.

Criticize afterwards.

Tangentially the house is responsible for the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assassination_of_Jamal_Khashog... altb6not an investment.
So I'm alarmed.

I would expect for this data on Google's servers to be useless without some secondary data from me. (Forgive my encryption terminology naivety.) In a way similar to how I guess-understand Apple claims it can perform private AI computations with it's newish thingy.

Otherwise it's Google using my biometrics outside a device or environment, where I have NO reasonable expectation to own or control. (Sorry for the double negatives... How better to say this?)

What is this??!

This is how our tech is being capitalized upon by US politicians. For their own power.

I want money out of politics.

IDK yet! Worth answering for sure.

<3 thanks!
Re:GifCities on Friday October 16, 2026 @09:03PM (#50126789)
As suggested elsewhere in this discussion, try "hamster".

Note that this is not an answer to your observation.

Re:GifCities on Friday October 16, 2026 @09:01PM (#50126772)
By the way, I love Fridays. Trying "hamster"...

... So many hamsters.

I like it a lot and I wonder if I'm needing to notice something other than the number of glorious hamsters? Thank you for the hamsters, regardless.

Re:I never authorized an integration that scans my secrets on Friday October 16, 2026 @08:56PM (#50126730)
The triage person incorrectly used the word "threat" when the user said that they were contemplating mitigating their concerns by moving away from this software, and it's technically not a threat. Dictionary.com to the rescue.

So, the triage person is misstating the circumstance, reframing it to introduce pain -- thank you dictionary.com -- pain via calling it a threat.

Speculatively, perhaps the triage person has evolved a defensiveness that includes hostility from historically being harassed directly or indirectly through their free support to the public position, and having some identity wrapped up in the software, and then feeling pain that way. That's just speculation. They do talk about going and drinking a beer, elsewhere in this chat, and alcohol use is associated with emotional dysregulation, bidirectionally.

So, to help out in this circumstance, perhaps an AI could be used to triage some of these issues.

Like, an AI that knows everything about the product in question, and says

a) this is the documentation repo, would you like me to move this issue to the main repo where we can discuss this properly, and

b) that feature already exists in the form of blah blah blah.

That would ease some of the more tedious triage workload the person doing the triage, hopefully give them space so that there are a few of these incidents deriving from this specific set of causes.

Re:I never authorized an integration that scans my secrets on Friday October 16, 2026 @08:50PM (#50126694)
A threat is not an ultimatum.

A threat is an intention to cause harm.

Re:I never authorized an integration that scans my secrets on Friday October 16, 2026 @08:49PM (#50126691)
It is not a threat to pass along an intention of performing a non-harmful action.

Let me add some more double negatives in there.... It's not not a threat to not keep quiet about intention to not not cause pain to another person.

Re:I never authorized an integration that scans my secrets on Friday October 16, 2026 @08:48PM (#50126686)
It is not a threat.

Threatening is expressing an intention to cause pain or harm.

This is not that.

Re:GifCities on Friday October 16, 2026 @05:14PM (#50124843)
Would be nice if it uniquified the GIFs.

E.g. type "dog" and get 11 pages and on the first page (may need to reload to avoid "X" broken links) see the same GIF repeated a few times.

Re:Tesla Roadster on Friday October 16, 2026 @05:09PM (#50124761)
Literal "Neck Breaking" speeds.

No human could survive this rocket-jump without a neck-brace.

Re:Tesla Roadster on Friday October 16, 2026 @05:07PM (#50124733)
Comments: Expectations set, expectations unmet. Fits a notable pattern by Musk of over promising and under delivering. In this age of misinformation, it's perhaps more painful than it could be if it were simply an amusing quirk of an eccentric billionaire.

And, speculation by Chris Norland YouTuber is the Roadster being fitted with literal rocket boosters is a portion of an argument to help justify SpaceX financially helping Tesla.

To raise awareness, the author also asks Hacker News for Security reporting help, in the post description above:

> Author here. Does anyone know what to do with the rest of the drivers? I found at least 13 in-tree drivers with the same bug class. The nasty part is they work fine on x86 and silently corrupt data on arm and other non-coherent archs, and I don't have the hardware to test them.

.. who can help them?

Steam client is INFINITELY faster than Epic client, across those dimensions.

BTW Gaben is my friend and I identify as Dr Gordon Freeman.

Parasocial relationships are a byproduct of the technology you (I assume) and I have and continue to create & roll-out to society, increasing physical distance from actual humans as well as increasing "in the head, only" identity, or identities, that culture carries with itself more and more.

What do you mean - the color part? That is for information density.

Do you mean the e-ink part? That is for natural-light readability w/o requiring backlight, and for power-efficiency w/o requiring a heavy battery/frequent charging.

Re:Google is illegaly cutting forest to build data centers on Monday October 12, 2026 @10:03PM (#50065669)
Yes!

There is a segment on Le Show (The Simpsons voice actor) just dedicated to the practice .. "Apologies of the Week":

https://www.wwno.org/le-show

Meh, it's being The Other.

In an authoritarian regime like Trump's anyone who is deemed The Other ... gays, liberals, RINOs, ex-cabinet members, are Others and will be hunted by authoritarian a-holes.

And would require a microsoft.com account to redeem.
