naraga

He is not a con. At least there is no indication yet.
FWIW, CZ is (and was viewed as) a good actor in the industry. He did a lot of good not only for crypto adoption but for access to better fiat currencies for people in countries with hyper-inflating collapsing system. comparing him to SBF (like many do) is absolutely not fair. he fcked up on AML front for sure and he is going to be punished rightfully but he did just so much good for people that he will stay remembered is positive persona. hero for many.

This is not about free speech. Problem is algorithmically boosting hate.
Re:Why isn’t dotnet core popular among startups? on Tuesday September 12, 2023 @12:28PM (#37483723)
yet they still support it all. also, you dont want them to stick to some old tech. you want them to evolve and take the best from industry. imho, they are doing just that and they are very good at it.

i've tried to "escape" .net ecosystem few times already. reason always was curiosity about pther ecosystems / languages. Ruby, Python, JS, Rust. i have returned every single time. from my point of view every other thing i've tried is underdeveloped toy compared to what .net ecosystem gives you. superb languages (c#, f#) toolset, compatibility guarantees. i understand the rebelion point of view and a pay huge respect to those people pushing alternatives forward. thanks to them Microsoft was also able to adapt to latest fanciest standards.

oh boy, this looks like an alchemy to me. on one hand one cant deny success of llm's on another we are shifting the responsibiliteis to non-deterministic fuzzy duck-taped functions.
You are datapoint for them as well as a loaded gun they can use to shoot. If they own silicon under your hands they can do almost anything.
Re:Get The TLDR Of Any YouTube Video on Sunday April 30, 2023 @06:27AM (#35761241)
I did not know about this service. I just used it for bunch of videos i have in my "to watch list" which is basically pile of shame of material i never get to watch for reasons like questionable useful information density or in complexity of the topic. It helped me to select those i really want to watch and i watched them. Imho this is godsend for creators. Unless you are just click-baiting and luring into watching something that could be summed up into 2 sentences just to go over you list of sponsors.

Much easier to do this with uranium than silicon.
.NET has Blazor, seen something similar in Rust. I believe there are tons of similar libs
100%. after all the evil they did in the world i dont understand how are they able to retain so much talent working for them. do people dont give a f* about their impact to the world? many shake their heads after someone exposes engineering team working in rusian army configuring Iskanders yet the same people work for facebook that spreads worst dissinfos, sells user data and basically plays parts in genocides.

Why JVM > CLR?
Re:NanoGPT on Wednesday January 11, 2023 @06:27AM (#34337314)
Exactly. This is inevitable imho. There is no way people will be ok to depend on few wall-gardened models.
Re:NanoGPT on Wednesday January 11, 2023 @06:19AM (#34337266)
I think something of Seti@Home kind will come.
Sure, yet, these people will mostly manage to escape. Have no doubt they all have few mils on side and they are ready to lie to themselves all sort of excuses to make them feel better spending them. Sam apparently "miss-labeled" some accounts all in pursuit to give more to charity i am pretty sure.

it is absolutely not. removes many inefficiencies. saying this as someone working in investment banking for years.
Re:El Salvador's Bitcoin Buys Tracker on Tuesday June 14, 2022 @06:04AM (#31736763)
Volatility is short term change in offer and demand. The fact the asset is held as reserve asset by many makes it less volatile over time. Monetary properties of gold and Bitcoin are very similar therefor makes it sound reserve asset. Gold non-imaginery properties (aka. physical substance) is irrelevant from monetary point of view.

Bukele is dictator and the way he is doing this (literally buying from his phone and bragging about it like a degen trader) is shameful. Yet it is a bet that very likely will turn out positively for the country (if he doesnt steal the money). Bitcoin is already well recognized global asset that gives person or country clear monetary rules, ease of storage and transfer and access to all future advancements of the ecosystem. I dont see any fundamental difference between putting gold into country reserves vs Bitcoin. Yes, gold has history but fundamentally it is inferior to digital bearer asset. Bitcoin is writing history right now.

i really hate this analogy but if you want to avoid scams avoid internet. crypto, for whatever reason is treated as special while most are commited with all sorts of hacks or social engineering. on the other hand i do recognize this is an issue but imo the only thing you can do is education. crypto has valid unique amazing usecases and it enables things that were not possible before.
Re:Temporary pause of Bitcoin withdrawals on Binance on Monday June 13, 2022 @10:46AM (#31726332)
i believe eth (just like bitcoin before) has chosen 2nd layers as a primary scaling solution. which obviously affects compatibility of code across different 2nd layers. basically we are talking about futures years ahead.
Re:Temporary pause of Bitcoin withdrawals on Binance on Monday June 13, 2022 @10:19AM (#31725963)
real crypto works just fine for millions. it is not problem of crypto that there are people falling for ponzis (not refering to Binance now). also, even quality of cefi exchanges like binance, coinbase, kraken, bitfinex has been outstanding in recent years so really, not sure what are we even talking about here. you get much more often blocked by credit card company or bank because of suspicious nonsense they dont explain.
Re:Temporary pause of Bitcoin withdrawals on Binance on Monday June 13, 2022 @10:15AM (#31725895)
PoS has nothing to do with fees being high or low.
Re:Temporary pause of Bitcoin withdrawals on Binance on Monday June 13, 2022 @09:15AM (#31725091)
so, either trade on exchanges with Lighntning or pick the one at least in jurisdiction that gives you some kind of protection like if you held money for any other service / broker.

they are scared of bubble popping yet give away $320m. okay.
More the better. Makes me sleep good at night knowing my money are secured by the wall of energy. Also, mining is competitive business and more miners every day going off-grid plugging to energy source that would have been otherwise strained (solar, wind, hydro, flared gas, ..).
on which layer? Bitcoin base layer has 7 TPS for which is able to guarantee its security properties. if you want to have fair comparison than maybe interbank settlements is close to what we are talking about. once we are talking about VISAs and Venmos we should pull Lightning network into discussion for which base layer provides security anchor.
There's US MINT, then there is Canadian MINT, then there is China MINT, ... Bitcoin is fully autonomous system serving all layers (from settlement to Lightning payments) without thousands of expensive shiny buildings and state armies to protect it.
