Re:Every software system used at Gitlab on Wednesday May 13, 2020 @11:14AM (#23167655)
Our e-team recently sent out a company wide reminder that we are family and friends first and work second. As people start settling into “new normals”, they also encourage team members to take the time they need. My direct manager is reminding me to take the necessary time of to help school my kids during our 1:1's and continuously check if I need any further support.

Re:Ask HN: Who is hiring? (August 2018) on Thursday August 02, 2018 @03:15AM (#17669734)
It is for the same reason as in Portugal. You are welcome to keep a close eye on our country hiring guidelines, should this change in future: https://about.gitlab.com/jobs/faq/#country-hiring-guidelines

Although we have current contractors in Portugal, unfortunately at this time we do not have an entity or payroll solution to hire more employees there. As we expand our company, we continue to explore in creating new entities and payroll solutions so we can hire more team members in additional jurisdictions. @aissen this is a temporary roadblock for us. As we scale, we are working on a better payroll solution in these locations. We are hoping to remove some of these roadblocks in future entirely. We have already moved a few successfully, like Australia and Canada.

@anoncoward111 Thank you for your comment, we always appreciate feedback. If you reached back for further feedback, kindly keep in mind, in this instance, we work with the BDR Hiring team, before proceeding, as we have an exceptionally strong pipeline of candidates for this role and it takes a little longer than usual to reach back. @sytse comment below is spot on in terms of how we measure during each interview. You are welcome to email us directly at [email protected], to get the recruiting team's attention, so we can reach back with further feedback right away.
