Not long ago Sam Altman was talking about how they were loosing money even on the paid version of chatgpt. Those incoming prices hikes going to be difficult to sell now.
Re:Anki – Powerful, intelligent flash cards on Sunday January 28, 2024 @02:35PM (#39169029)
I had the same problem when studying English. I just capped my review/new cards study time to 30 mins per day. Basically if you have too much cards to review your vocabulary hits a "plateau" until your workload becomes manageable again.
Re:AirJet makes a MacBook Air perform like a MacBook Pro on Monday November 27, 2023 @01:25PM (#38436070)
I don't know how it will pan out in commercial products, but it has been a long time that I've been this excited about hardware, it does feel like real innovation for cooling and especially for mobile devices.
Re:Web Components Eliminate JavaScript Framework Lock-In on Monday November 27, 2023 @12:41PM (#38435387)
Web components are a bit verbose by themselves but used with a library like lit.js you can build a framework agnostic component library. Angular and Vue support WC out of the box and they have a wrapper for React. I think the only thing missing(or not mature enough right) now is SSR. There are probably libraries other than lit.js that take the pain out of writing WC.

I was skeptical at first but I've seen in production a lit.js/WC component library used with React and Angular successfully in the banking sector and it works surprisingly well.

I'm fairly uneducated in this area, can you explains in what ways our own DNAs will be used to our detriment by theses drug companies? (if will leave 23andMe and the likes out of the question)

still can't order from Belgium, a bummer.
Re:Microsoft wins FTC fight to buy Activision Blizzard on Wednesday July 12, 2023 @12:52AM (#36690589)
I know it is just wishful thinking but I hope Microsoft restore legacy warcraft 3 so I can play the original campaigns and not the hot mess they made with reforged.
Re:Framework Laptop 13 review: a DIY dream come true on Tuesday May 16, 2023 @06:24PM (#35968584)
It would be nice if Framework can share a roadmap for availability outside U.S (I'm from Belgium) for all their products.
Re:I want an iPhone Mini-sized Android phone on Tuesday May 17, 2022 @01:18PM (#31413717)
I have the same issue, I have big hands and going from a pixel 2 to a pixel 6 has been a nightmare. I can't use the pixel 6 with a single handle.
I went to visit an apartment to rent with a friend. While waiting for the owner my friend was reading the names on the mailbox, and read the "x" out loud said "this person is probably Romanian". I when I was home I had notification if I knew this "x" person. All this time my phone was in my pocket. It is just creepy and I'm going to change my pixel 2 as soon as I can for an Iphone.
I think it reached a certain point where even a pen-name is not enough. The author might write something completely safe(under his own name) and some people will still be able to nitpick and led a crusade against him/her.

You can control what you write but not the mob trying to lynch you.

Re:How Discord Won on Monday October 19, 2020 @04:15PM (#24830468)
This. it feels like entering a room, speaking with like-minded people, getting the information you want and walking out. No one asking anything and trying to reel you back in after.
Re:WordPad Is Gettings Ads in Windows 10 on Tuesday January 21, 2020 @11:34PM (#22114665)
i feel the same, It just build up resentment for these forced ads and preinstalled software. I can't even stand to see Skype and oneDrive icons anymore, I stop what I'm doing at the moment and go to uninstall them.
Not everywhere I assume, my grandfather worked 20 years as a miner in Belgium and his employer left the housing to the city only if they will let the miners stay there for a symbolic some (+-50€). Once the owner died the city immediately tried to change the rent to 500€, but the local miners union fought it and kept the old rent until the union chief died also of old age. There were no one capable of Fighting the legal battle. Basically the city ignored the owner's will to profit from coal miners.
Re:Blizzard Cancels Overwatch Event on Tuesday October 15, 2019 @09:37PM (#21266191)
Video games are made by creators and there is an artistic side to it. People get emotionally attached to them and it's hard to remove this positive emotion associated with it, but when developers and editors treat it only as a money machine and disregard everything else it is like breaking up with your s.o. and the love is replaced with an irreversible hatred.

I think Blizzard has definitely lost their special place in most of their hardcore fans. The market has become global but so have the conflicts and whether they like it or not, sometimes they will be forced to pick a side.

I also made the switch but firefox is definitely slower than chrome and sometimes it borders on being unusable on some website where chrome's performance was spotless.
Blizzard kept re-uploading the Diablo Immortal trailer multiple time to prevent massive dislikes on youtube. The video from the battle.net app is at its third version now. They should know better, you can't get away with these kind of shady practices, especially with a fan group that pay attention at what you do.
Re:Why I’m done with Chrome on Sunday September 23, 2018 @08:34PM (#18054192)
After they dropped inbox, I'm actively trying to leave google products but it is definitely hard. The band-aid is fused with the skin. It also made me realize that tying oneself to a single product/company is definitely to avoid.
Re:Who Were the Mamluks? on Thursday September 06, 2018 @11:56AM (#17927143)
if I remember correctly one of the first of the Mamluk kings was named "bay pars" meaning rich leopard in turkish.
Re:Who Were the Mamluks? on Thursday September 06, 2018 @11:52AM (#17927113)
Fun fact: the mamluks where prohibited by their masters to marry arabs to not "lessen" their warrior genes
Re:How World of Warcraft Was Made on Monday August 27, 2018 @07:12PM (#17855286)
If I remember correctly the game ran somewhat fine on my geforce mx440 (passively cooled).
Re:Lubuntu is taking a new direction on Wednesday August 01, 2018 @10:05PM (#17668738)
I have a desktop with an intel 3570k bought in 2012, I wanted to build a new gaming desktop with a ryzen 2700x.

The ryzen is only 20% better in single threaded performance. I could easily overclock my cpu to close further the gap. Just need to upgrade my gpu and I'm good for a few more years. These cpus have aged quiet well.

Apparently they don't start at all until 80C here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wgeh7ZJRhZU
The name would be "Ho", maybe he did.
Re:The Decline of the MacBook Pro on Friday June 08, 2018 @12:26PM (#17266992)
I was going to buy my first macbook pro but the keyboard is holding me back. the other "premium" laptops are overpriced for what they offer.
Although there aren't a lot of them you can search Bellini's drawings to have a sense on how people looked like around 1453. https://www.fortticonderoga.org/blog/wp-content/uploads/2013...
shouldn't Venezuela be one the richest country in the world? As far as I know they have the biggest oil reserves in the world.
Re:Who invented hummus? on Friday December 22, 2017 @01:18AM (#15985618)
Turks don't claim hummus as their own too. Yoghurt is ours though.
Re:Relicensing React, Jest, Flow, and Immutable.js on Friday September 22, 2017 @05:54PM (#15316198)
Wow, that's a fantastic move, huge win for open source.
Re:Kindness is Underrated (2014) on Sunday July 16, 2017 @03:04PM (#14783602)
