Same here, migrated off of them shortly after they announced there first price hike.
Re:StreetComplete on iOS is now in public beta on Thursday October 01, 2026 @03:56PM (#49926319)
It’s tricky and maybe locale specific. A lot of roads near me have no pavement. You have to anticipate pedestrians, cyclists and horses on the road. Not at the same frequency as motor vehicles but not completely out of the ordinary.
Re:200 Milliseconds on Monday August 03, 2026 @06:18PM (#49162203)
Yes similar here, async operation that could be quick enough not to warrant a busy state, but not all the time. So rather than show a flash of busy state, that makes the ui look janky when the operation is quick, show the busy state for a minimum amount of time
Or between 13 and 19 which intermittently is interpreted as 30 or 40 etc. Maybe it's just my enunciation.
Re:Car companies are in a billion-dollar software war on Sunday May 11, 2025 @04:05PM (#43956695)
My old ford tourneo custom has a well placed phone holder. I use this and a MagSafe charger plugged into usb port on dash. Works great, I can use my phone, or anybody else can use the van and their phone, it’s really easy. Just looked and newer models have great big touch screen instead :(
Re:I wrote to the address in the GPLv2 license notice (2022) on Thursday April 24, 2025 @07:22PM (#43788603)
I had to inform numerous companies of my mums death last year. A lot of them had either phone support with very long wait times or a postal address, no email. It took me less time to write a letter and post it than to wait on hold
Re:Trying Out a Far Infrared Heated Poster on Monday October 14, 2024 @07:12PM (#41843191)
Or even good woolen jumper can make a big difference. Something light so you don’t notice your wearing it but with good insulating properties and you retain a lot more of your own body heat than a cotton or synthetic top.
Re:What Happens in a Mind That Can't 'See' Mental Images on Saturday August 03, 2024 @07:00AM (#41145857)
When another poster described a red star with sun spots I started forming a moving image in my mind of a sun with swirling in motion sun spots
Re:Firefox tooltip bug fixed after 22 years on Tuesday October 10, 2023 @01:51AM (#37828926)
Could this be the same tooltip issue I see everyday on Thunderbird? I must use Firefox differently but in Thunderbird I'm often left with a tooltip telling the date of the last message I was looking at after changing to a different app.
Re:Comlink Makes WebWorkers Enjoyable on Monday August 07, 2023 @02:51PM (#37038933)
Used Comlink for a small toy project and made it really easy with very little change to move an expensive file merge off the main thread and do it in the background. Next time I use WebWorkers I'll probably use Comlink.

Example of using here https://github.com/mrloop/activity-merge/blob/main/app/contr...

I tried importing at feedbin.com, 524 of 598 imported successfully. The failures being a mixture of not found or connection errors and a couple of invalid URL errors
Re:Europe drastically cut its energy consumption this winter on Thursday April 06, 2023 @04:51PM (#35474231)
I generally have my heating at 18, anything more I am opening windows or taking off my jumper. 20 degrees would be too hot for me, if I lived in an apartment that mandated 20 degress heating at all time I wouldn't be happy about it.
I'm building an integration that will use a long lived token once a month. In your experience will a long lived token expiry if not used for a month? How long do they remain valid until expiring from not being used?
I was thinking the same thing, screenshot of commits with most code deleted https://www.folklore.org/StoryView.py?project=Macintosh&stor...
Re:Each visit to the page deteriorates the main image on Saturday November 12, 2022 @06:15AM (#33572053)
This brings back memories of art school, a friend recorded themselves running up and down a hill and made many copies of copies of the video on VHS. They displayed different generations of the degrading video side by side on a bank of monitors.
Re:Intel apologises in China over Xinjiang supplier statement on Thursday December 23, 2021 @06:03AM (#29660672)
The final judgement at https://chinatribunal.com makes somber reading about forced organ harvesting from prisoners in China and its increase in the last 20 years.
Re:A submarine's weakness: its software? on Tuesday December 07, 2021 @06:15PM (#29479391)
Reminds me of Glen Quaich which I regulary cycle. Single track road, with switch backs and 12% gradients. Often I'll cycle by besumed tourist off the main road wondering where they are. Its a public road but not cleared or gritted in the winter. A couple visiting a nearby village last week were rescued by a farmer after Google sent them along this scenic route in a snow storm.
Re:The Unicorn Tapestries on Tuesday June 15, 2021 @11:17AM (#27516739)
There are woven reproductions of these in Stirling castle, worth going to see if you are in Scotland. https://www.stirlingcastle.scot/discover/highlights/the-stir...

Re:How Children Lost the Right to Roam in Just 4 Generations on Thursday February 02, 2017 @11:05AM (#13551494)
Ha, I remember knocking on the rear windscreen of a car as it passed me by, I was doing about 20mph, the car not much faster, I didn't even need to stretch my arm to do so. The driver pull over further down the street and I had a conversion with him very calmly, he wasn't happy about me knocking on the window and told me that if he was younger he'd punch my lights out.
Re:IBM Watson's Visual Recognition Demo on Tuesday March 22, 2016 @03:17PM (#11339199)
Can anybody offer an explanation as to why an image of a tiger can have a confidence score of 99% as a tiger but only 84% confidence score as an animal. I guess the system has no concept of taxonomy.
Re:Git – PANICKING - on Monday October 05, 2015 @07:54AM (#10331179)
Reminds of a friend jokingly telling another friend on chat that the command they needed was 'rm -rf /' presuming they had more experience than they did. Unfortunately they ran it.
Re:Show HN: Scottish Independence Referendum Heatmap on Monday August 25, 2014 @08:46AM (#8221509)
The colour blue for one of the result sets is a poor choice as the map is drawn in blue / turquoise. You need 2 colours for the results which are of a similar distinguishability against the map colour.
