An Apple user complaining about this? Oh that is rich!
I don't condone or like this kind of thing from MS. We all know though who MS copies...
You support the company that perfected it. So pot meet kettle.
They like to be ignorant of being filmed. I don't mean that as an insult. "Ignorance is bliss"
Our local Linux group meets every month. It has become far more general tech focused but still there is always something new that gets demoed.

Thanks, I was going to say the same thing. The developer cultural context, back then, really matters.
But only a thin section is impacted by EV issues. I'm not knocking them BTW. I'm saying that we have interconnected the two coasts (and by extension everything in-between) and they don't have the same issue as us. It changes the dynamics as the earlier post was saying.
I Understood That Reference.
Once I got to ".. I mean really nuts" I had started reading it in her voice :)
Winter called. It disagrees with your rosy assessment of the Texas grid's greatness.
I just installed it yesterday and you are right it does not seem to have RAG but you can use something like anythingLLM to do the rag work and ut has built in integration with studio LM.
You do other things to make money and continue to make art for it's own sake. If you get to the point that others want your art you get commissions. Just like most artists in the current system.
"Nass and Reeves make a point of stating in their methodology that all the participants 'have extensive experience with computers … they were all daily users, and many even did their own programming'"
True, but they did say the experiment was done with people who had been using computers regularly.
I really liked the review and the general breakdown.
BUT one thing stuck out, because they were so forceful, is their opinion "The radar screens aren’t the spinning ‘sonar blip’ bullshit you get in a lot of games, movies, and animation." That is horseshit. I was a military radar tech in Japan (95-98) and '‘sonar blip’ bullshit screens' were still the primary ATC displays on at least some mainland bases.
What did I just read??? "Substantive facts"? That was all opinion. You didn't even directly respond to the poster until your last sentence and there you declared your opinion to be "fact-informed" and assigned both the feelings and actions of the average Unity dev using your, at best, subjective experience.
You "lost count" of 0? Because I just downloaded every chapter and searched for "authenticity" it occurred 0 times.
My current suggestion is to consider it the work of a just on-boarded intern. It will save you some time but you still need to walk thru the code to make sure it will work as intended.
>I’m astounded by the pervasiveness of this meme, given its origins are really >from a Mac vs PC internet flame war era that I would like to think we’ve moved >past.
I'm not. You are implying that Apple consumers of today are different then before. I think Apple has always targeted that exact kind of person.
>I’m astounded by the fact that one can imply with a straight face no less that >over half the market are status-driven dorks that have no legitimate reason to >use an iPhone over an Android phone, the obviously superior for all people in >all circumstances choice used by the enlightened few that aren’t concerned with >such banal things as social status.
If you are amazed that many people buying new apple phones are "status-driven dorks" then you probably believe you made a smart purchase of that iMAC back at the turn of century.
>Occam’s razor would imply that this view is perhaps wrong and that you’re just >missing something.
Or maybe the simplest answer is that Apple consumers are going to behave like Apple consumers.
>I use an iPhone for a lot of reasons. One of these is that I’m legally blind. >For my purposes, accessibility features on iOS easily run rings around those on >Android. Full stop. Arguing against that is ridiculous. Sectioning me out and >saying “I wasn’t talking about you@ because disability is a sacred cow is >ridiculous.
It fills your niche... good for you. Acknowledging that fact doesn't negate it.
The Apple faithful are going to wake up tomorrow and realize THIS is what they used to make fun of Google and Microsoft for.
It's a pair of REALLY expensive snow goggles. Worse it's goggles with a tiny battery life, a bizarre generated face, it looks goofy and the first time that cable snags on anything...
Imagine Steve Jobs on stage and he says "One more thing..." and puts that on his face, That would NEVER happen.
This is cool in the same way the Newton was!
(edited for typo)
I think Arthur C Clarke has a pithy quote that challenges your argument from authority. "When a distinguished but elderly scientist states that something is possible, he is almost certainly right. When he states that something is impossible, he is very probably wrong."
I can't find any reputable sources that confirm he was a white supremacist. Can you post one of the links you have?
He's not talking about the right of the "infringed" collective to self-defense. He's saying, I think, that when you as a 3rd party enter the conflict you are adding flame to the fire.
edit: noting that I'm not trying to be pro/con a third party entering the conflict. I'm just trying to be guiltless action.
Isn't it, really, a counter to Woodrow Wilson's, then, new idea of the Constitution being a "living" document?
And it's funny you bring up Thomas Jefferson, who wrote it as a static document with a mechanism to change it (Amendments). Add to that the fact that he said it should be scrapped every generation so it would better reflect the current times. Neither of these approaches argue for it being a "dynamic living document".
Being "educated" doesn't require you to be able to write without the assistance of a person or tool.
Your vendor didn't provide you with free updates to match changes in the larger OS ecosystem. Then you get mad at the larger OS for not supporting the niche software of your vendor.
BTW neither the vendor nor the OS maker is the problem. You are. Your entitlement that the world should grind to a halt to wait for you is.
Because only a FSD car causes piles up... your right, I NEVER saw 90 car pileups on the news before FSD. /s
I'm pointing this out because he said (in italics) "substantially".
So, if Gnome DE has a zero-day exploit Ubuntu should immediately pull the Gnome Desktop until the upstream patches it? Otherwise, it's not about ethics just time.
The you of today still knows what you from a decade ago knew. But now, you know what life does to people. That alone makes you MORE then you were, not less.
Do you remember why he got kicked? He could miss big too.
This is not true. In fact if you actually go back and read the articles on it, one of the strengths was how responsive it was on hardware that was much weaker then what android needed. It has its problems but you are literally taking it's strength and pretending it was a flaw 0_o
"I doubt a randomly picked person has a more complex net of social interactions today than 50,000 years ago..."
Why? 50k years ago the average person lived with a small group of people and barely ever interacted with anyone else in the world. Whereas the common person, today, interacts with a large number of people socially; if you include virtual and physical interactions.
Do you have a source for this? My poor google skills can't find anything after the '67 fire for an American carrier.
