I'm a remote software dev in Bend. I've been here about a year after living in Portland for 9 years. Bend is definitely not as expensive as Portland. We can afford a lot more for our money here.

yes! my company gives all developers a pluralsight license but i find it basically useless. I spend half my time pausing and replaying video to follow along. so much more efficient to have it laied out in text.

Anecdotally (I know, I know), I've ordered a few things recently from Walmart that were cheaper than they were on Amazon. Each time I received the items multiple days later than what the website told me. e.g. "2 day" shipping taking 4 business days. I've had this happen to me maybe a couple of times over several years from Amazon, but its happened each and every time from Walmart.

Me too. I only feel at my best if I'm consistently getting 8 hours. A few days of 7 hours and I start to feel overly tired. Turn that down to 6 hours and I turn into an awful person.
My wife hardly ever sleeps more that 6-6.5 hours so she basically gets 2 extra hours a day compared to me. This has been true for me as long as I can remember (36 year old male)

I'm sure I am in the minority, but avoid bus trips wherever possible because I get horribly motion sick on them. I few years ago I had a job with a 20 minute bus commute and it was torture. I'd break out in a cold sweat every time and stagger off the bus feeling light headed and dizzy.
This does seem to be an inherent problem for me with road vehicles. I experience a similar problem riding in the back of a car. I'm not immune from motion sickness on trains, but it is an order of magnitude better.
