I love the idea of taking well understood analog concepts and applying them to the digital remote workplace, but man, forced sync calls coming in on a whim without my control to ignore them sounds like my absolute worst nightmare.
Nobody deserves this, but lordy I have lost days of dev time to Circle in the last several years.
This is a lot of upfront work, and signing up for continuous maintenance, computing costs, dealing with vendor-specific oddities, and a host of other concerns. Whatever is gained from this (being able to sign AWS phobic clients) must be substantial.
Absolutely. I mean, could you imagine F1 drivers having to negotiate the track with the 911s, Astons & Corvettes? They'd throw a damn hissy fit.
Not only does it make the race exciting from logistics/entertainment perspective, but at any given time there are multiple first place battles occurring. It's hugely entertaining.
For me, endurance racing (WEC) is quite a bit more fascinating and impressive than F1. Racing a car on the cutting edge of race technology for 2 hours is one thing, but 24 hours is a whole different ballgame.
The Farallons are a pretty intense little outcropping just off the coast. Doesn't make it any more appealing that it's a mecca for Great Whites.
It's not that anyone has forgotten, it's that a lot of people never learned how to in the first place. Every programmer community is riddled with these problems but the NPM world seems to be the worst. The ruby gem "american_date" annoys me to no end. It's just a highly-specific implementation of Time#strptime. Gah
Standard lightbox image technique, pretty nice once you get used to it. Click image to expand, click almost anywhere to collapse.
Quick, somebody called to question the effectiveness of your statements when you lace them with arrogant statements! Attack them!
The colors are very hard to differentiate with the larger datasets, such as the 2 testing frameworks charts.
The part where you enter something to search for and it takes over 10 seconds for a result.
> I know I sometimes forget about it, and I’ve looked at enough code from other developers to know that I’m not the only one.
I think by and large, most people don't use it not out of forgetfulness, but out of disdain for willy nilly calling methods on objects without knowing what might happen.
Unless you already have feet (plantar fasciitis is super common) problems, in which case it will make things much worse.
That page might be the hardest webpage to load.
I like the simplicity of using an alt email account that sends you daily digests. OtherInbox is an example, though I do not endorse that service in particular.
Yes but if you want to float the label and have it cleared in the next "row", that's where the separation of elements comes in handy.
I opt for a P around both the label and the field, gives greater CSS hooks and encapsulates each form area nicely.
Approach this with care. I just bricked my G1 with DangerSPL. Followed the steps exactly, never made it past the SPL flash.
It shows a great knowledge of CSS that is not readily seen today on many, if any, websites.
I see no such unboldedness when said links are clicked. Regardless, not the point of the article at all.
"If I need a lot of space for a week, I can rent a spacious apartment. If I want to have a dinner party, I can rent a chic loft to host guests. If I plan to work late, I can rent a minimal space close to the office."
Yes, you can do that, if you have loads of disposable income.
The open-ended declaration "I can't believe you made $50k!" seems inappropriate and may have annoyed the theme author.
Was it there too? I thought it was just on the modrails site, which it still is. "Stupid graffiti" ... somebody doesn't like graffiti art.
Those instructions only apply when you've altered the image. If you want white, select white.
Click "Change Background Image" in the bottom right corner, select "Editor's Picks", scroll to the bottom, select white.
Problem solved.
I personally like it. Nothing wrong with big beautiful images that do not slow page load times.
Can somebody explain the practical, real-world use of a library like this? My first reaction was for encryption of sensitive data before a form post but then don't we have SSL for that? Plus, since it can be decrypted if you know the password, and the password is in the source code ... I don't understand why I would use this.
Maybe for server-side JavaScript, such as node.js, but the authors of this plugin seem to omit server-side JavaScript from their notes for whatever reason.
This site is a time sink as much as any other.
I would call the custom build glass for the front and back of the iPhone, along with the multi-purpose custom alloy bezel, and the other hardware innovations to be the definition of state of the art. What other vendor is putting this level of detail and innovation into their products?
