This is vibecoded in three days. The chances that this is usable now or be around in a year are tiny. It looks good on the surface and I like to be proven wrong in a year.
Re:Fastpotify on Tuesday September 01, 2026 @07:29AM (#49520522)
Why is spotify so popular? There are different solutions to listen to music. What does spotify do that almost no one else does? Is it the music library or something else?

I use youtube music, but I am looking for alternatives (but not spotify for various reasons).

There would be no merge if there isn't a PR in the first place.

Re:Swift is a more convenient Rust on Saturday January 31, 2026 @06:12PM (#46841873)
> There is a perception that Swift is only a good language for Apple platforms. While this was once true, this is no longer the case and Swift is becoming increasingly a good cross-platform language.

How good is the developer experience on a non-Apple platform really? Linux is my primary platform and my perception is, that allmost all of the swift eco system is for Apple. Libraries, tools, documentation, IDEs, tutorials, etc. all assume, that you use an Apple.

Can someone tell me who does not use an Apple-device and uses swift?

Re:Qwen3-Max-Thinking on Monday January 26, 2026 @12:21PM (#46768492)
That is not relevant for this discussion, if you don't think of every discussion as an east vs. west conflict discussion.

Simple? No. SVGs are not simple. If they were simple they weren't so capable.

Is it worth running uv inside a docker container?

Re:ZFS 2.3.0 released with ZFS raidz expansion on Tuesday January 14, 2025 @06:53AM (#42696184)
ZFS might be better then any other FS on Linux (I don't judge that).

But you must admit that the situation on Linux is quite better then on Windows. Linux has so many FS in main branch. There is a lot of development. BTRFS had a rocky start, but it got better.

Re:IRC Driven – modern IRC indexing site and search engine on Monday January 13, 2025 @09:04AM (#42683519)
Looking at the site I have my doubts, that this is modern at all. Don't get me wrong, I have no objection. I just wonder what justifies the modern predicate.

Fediverse does not have to be doom scrolling if you just follow accounts around your hobbies and interests and filter certain keywords.

But can it now say "I don't know." ? Or can it evaluate its own results and came to the conclusion that its just a wild guess?

I am still impressed by the progress though.

Re:Swift is a more convenient Rust on Friday September 06, 2024 @08:04AM (#41465380)
Always, when I read those postings that praise Swift, I wonder how good is the developer experience is if you don't use any of the Apple/MacOS ecosystem (except Swift, of course). I have not met any Swift developer who is not developing on macOS, usually for macOS. That makes me very skeptical that non-Mac devs are treated as second-class citizens. I am not only talking about the standard library, but also about the tooling, LSP, libraries, tutorials and so on. I totally believe that Swift is a good language, but I guess it is only good if you are on macOS.

If you are developing with Swift but not using a Mac at all, I would love to hear how your experience has been.

Manifest V2/V3 is a reason to still use Firefox. There are still a lot of differences between the two browsers and a monoculture is still bad. How ever I see the pull towards Chromium.

Sorry for this naive question, but isn't every network card build out of discrete logic components?
