Re:The Role of Luck in Life Is Still Misunderstood on Thursday March 15, 2018 @01:45PM (#16594967)
Probably means you don't go to jail in 2018 for mean tweets. Or some other modern Nazi line, amirite?
Seemed that way from the beginning. What kind of people become journalists?
Again?

Here I am, still a lowly brilliance apprentice.

Just proving that Churchill wasn't right about everything.
Re:Why we used Pony to write Wallaroo on Thursday October 26, 2017 @01:21PM (#15561003)
Are Ponys classes akin to Erlang modules or does it take a more enterprise-y perspective on OOP?
Re:Why we used Pony to write Wallaroo on Thursday October 26, 2017 @12:45PM (#15560584)
What benefits does Pony have when compared to Erlang?

Tech is full of school marms now. Thats how we know its mainstream.
Re:The Corrosion of High School Debate on Tuesday October 10, 2017 @12:52PM (#15443313)
That should hardly be news. It is up to parents to teach history and a philosophy of history. Public schooling has went full on post modernist indoctrination.

You're the guy who hates big corporations? I'm the guy who wants to end world hunger.

Man, I find this comment annoying.

Indeed, Front enders will never be the geniuses the people writing ad hoc CRUD operation end points are.

Qatar - $127,523 GDP (PPP) per capita

Is my point.

"by implying that only irrefutable facts are admissible"

lol.

"comparable in wealth to the US"
Really learning about the empirical evidence and reproducibility in 'science' has been a real bummer. I was made aware via the Sokal affair and have taken keen interest since. I'd even go as far to say this is why Trump won.
> Again, who gives a shit if they are "boring"?

Me.

Re:JavaScript TC39 implementing hashmark private class fields on Thursday August 03, 2017 @02:51PM (#14922547)
Gotta get into the enterprise somehow. Even if that means bloating the language so its easier for the career desk jockeys to use (ie: dont ask them to learn something new).
Re:Inside Patreon, the economic engine of internet culture on Thursday August 03, 2017 @02:50PM (#14922532)
In my years on the internet I find the content works itself out, so I'm unsure why I'd pay anyone anything. Half the reason I like most of it is because it's free.
Re:JavaScript TC39 implementing hashmark private class fields on Thursday August 03, 2017 @02:48PM (#14922510)
I honestly do not see the need for these bloated features being added to Js just to appease programmers who refuse to learn a differing methodology.

For all the good press PDF is still a bitch to work with when trying make end to end workflows (particularly if you want to avoid opening acrobat or something).

Re:JavaScript Fatigue: Realities of Our Industry on Thursday July 27, 2017 @01:26PM (#14867460)
There was nothing wrong with AMD loading, but the Js developers really wanted to use their bloated frameworks. We're several years in. Everyone getting their advanced Js applications faster? Exactly.

I like Js.

Re:JavaScript Fatigue: Realities of Our Industry on Thursday July 27, 2017 @08:39AM (#14864685)
I've written JS every day for nearly 10 years now. I do not have an answer.
Doesn't surprise me in the least. Of the coal miners and programmers I know -- only one set enjoys a subset of people who've built and wired their own homes with little formal education and even less complaint.
