There is a country wide sticker/digital vignette you can get for different periods of time and a handful of tunnels that cost extra money that you can pay in cash or by card at the time you drive through one of those. How is that a mess?
Of course a system like Germany where you don't have any tolls is even easier but compared to France or Italy where you constantly have to pull over for toll stops and end up paying a multiple more for most trips I think this is pretty great
For net worth >$2M or pretty high average income tax liability in the years before expatriation. Otherwise it's just the $2350
Prior infection is a good substitute for the vaccine because the ones that die from that "prior infection" aren't going to be in the statistic that shows how effective a prior infection is compared to a vaccine for a subsequent covid infections
Maybe this was him "quitting" and he knew this would happen but e.g. he still wanted to be eligible for unemployment benefits
You can't enforce complexity rules or check against known leaked passwords or that they don't reuse username as password or anything like that if you hash on the client too
There's no guarantee that option 3 can be accomplished in the US. We might aim for it and realize that we're only accomplishing #2 and now inflicted maximum economic damage on top of it.
I switched a few month back and it's still painful for me. Plain search results are OK but Google is so much better with deep integrations.
Some examples:
- I google a sports team, it shows me most recent results
- I google a flight number, it shows me flight status
- I google.g. nyse djia, it shows me the current stock value
Unlike the author of this post I very much miss these. Now this means having to click through and find this info on flightaware, ESPN, some finance page, etc. instead of just immediately getting what I want
You can get the best of both worlds by self-hosting and putting a CDN in front of that. This way you get robustness and your app will still function in isolation
I implemented something similar when I was playing around on a personal page. It's built by Jekyll and inlines a base64 version of the jpeg with a CSS blur filter, then lazyloads the real image and transitions it in via opacity 0->1. You can see it in action here:

Yes. Had a hiring manager reach out to me from a company I already blindly applied to but was in limbo with.
Went directly to on-site interview stage after a quick call and am still happily employed here 5 years later.
Definitely the most important post I ever made in my life :)
I don't think I got any additional recruiter spam around the time of that post. Maybe back then recruiters didn't watch those threads yet?
The vast majority of shootings in Chicago do not happen in the inner city (aka the Loop). Most of these are on the South side and West side of the city
Unfortunately adding value to society isn't very correlated to profitability. The most extreme example I can think of is selling heroin.
What worked for me is to settle on a generic filler item. Personally I use toothpaste. Costs a decent amount, can be stored for a long time, doesn't need much space and I'll need it eventually. This way I don't go looking around randomly but just always fill the gap with that item.
I'm subscribed to change my consumption habits and it has worked for the most part. I usually don't buy enough fruit and vegetables when I shop for myself and avoid certain vegetables completely. Imperfect fixes this for me. Fruit and vegetables just appear every week and once they're in my home I"m too cheap to let them go to waste so I end up eating them.
I'd subscribe to normal produce delivery instead if that were an option. I don't really care about the "imperfect" part and the premium over my local supermarket is pretty negligible
Namecheap now finally supports TOTP and U2F is on their roadmap. I was close to dropping them before this recent development but it seems like they finally take this seriously
Fwiw it's called the Tendernob because it is on the border of the Tenderloin and Nob Hill.

I'm looking for an exciting opportunity in mobile app development. I have extensive experience with various programming languages, stacks and environments. Asides my recent work in mobile I've previously worked as a web developer doing back-end work with Java or PHP and some front-end development in JavaScript. Before that I've done fat client development with Java Swing and Eclipse RCP.
