The VM is allocated 2 cores and 4GB of RAM. For my workload, it doesn't feel any slower than running it directly on the host. The few times I've checked memory usage, it wasn't anywhere near full as far as I remember.

Since everyone is sharing their setup, here’s my approach, just to give people an idea of how others are doing it, however impractical it might look: I run a full Linux VM (with a GUI) on my Linux host. I connect via virt-viewer to run Claude Desktop, as I’m not a fan of using the terminal for this.
The VM sits on its own libvirt network in a dedicated firewall zone, and specific directories are shared via filesystem passthrough. To keep the agent from accessing anything related to Git, the actual gitdir is stored on a separate path outside the mount point.
I review the git diff manually and commit it from the host.

Either working with PHP for 21 years is not long enough or simply too long. I honestly think these small inconsistencies are irrelevant in the big picture of building something complex. Like you said, programmers should deal with them. It just doesn't sound like a big deal.

What do you mean developers should deal with functions like those? They're used when necessary, yes, just like any function. And no IDE is required. I'm really puzzled.

Never mind, I tried recording it now but could not reproduce it anymore. It was probably something on my phone at the time (Firefox on Android). I tried to remove or edit my previous comment but it seems it's not an option. Sorry for the noise.

That content scrolls quite slow on my phone. Is there another scrolling effect that makes it slower on purpose or it's a side effect of the glass look?

I came here to say exactly this. You can even set up build steps using GitHub Actions if you prefer something beyond vanilla JS, or publish the project for free on Cloudflare, even from private repositories. In addition to localStorage, IndexedDB is also very useful. It's easy to export the app’s data as JSON for better persistence, and you could store it on Google Drive or a similar service.

I don't know. Paying for streaming services seems very natural nowadays.

Most likely for lobbying purposes. You might want to support or block a bill, resolve an issue that affects you, or push for legal changes or permits that benefit your business. It's about influencing decisions that have a direct impact on your interests. And it doesn't even need to be business related; sometimes it's just like calling the building manager when something is annoying you and you're bored.

I'm not sure about the other commenter's intentions, but on desktop, I wish every program started in a restricted network namespace. Instead of blocking all incoming and outgoing connections by default, it would request user permission interactively and adjust access accordingly.

You might find Flatpak interesting if you're not already familiar with it. Properly packaged applications start with limited file system access—for example, when you browse file:/// in Firefox, it can't see all your files. However, using the "Open File" menu acts as a file system portal, granting access to selected files on demand. While this isn't exactly how macOS handles permissions, it does prevent the unrestricted system access you're concerned about.
