I remember my PhD advisor telling me that yes, we should look at past big names with admiration, but I shouldn't let that keep me from progress, and if a tool gives you advantage, like IA, then that is what I should also use. He was always one to let us use more tools (books, notes, etc.) during the exams, as he was of the thinking that we shouldn't become memorizing machines.

I like how, whenever a new model releases, they not only make other companies' models seem worse, but even their own "oLdeR" models.
