I missed this, fantastic!
Re:OccupySaaS on Monday November 02, 2026 @07:01AM (#50335701)
yeah it's weird seeing Salesforce on that site, where if you previously worked for Salesforce, you were definitely part of the problem. This is ridiculous.
Re:NASA's Voyager 1 mysteriously lost touch with Earth on Saturday October 31, 2026 @01:56PM (#50318347)
Could it have crashed into something? I find it incredible that that hadn’t happened yet.
Re:We should be more ambitious with the software we build on Sunday October 25, 2026 @05:11AM (#50229626)
I would like operating systems vendors to be way more ambitious. There is no reason for Apple's Finder/spotlight to be so slow, when a guy with an LLM makes an alternative that is 500X faster. There is just no excuse now. Sure, it'll be more complicated to do it right, with all the decades of baggage, but now you can expend 3-4 people on radically optimizing different subsystems and see if there are any quick wins.

Well, here's something it seems. Have not tried it, I have an other model. https://github.com/chris-ritsen/samsung-tv-root

Would love a blog post!
Re:United Airlines CEO Calls for National Wealth Tax on Thursday October 22, 2026 @03:38PM (#50199997)
I think some figure they will die before any negative consequences hits them. And the hardliners are actively working on changing that social contract, where you will have no choice but to comply, because you will have no power. Many dictatorships still live on, in one form or another, with the elite doing just fine.

Would love a debloater for Samsung Tizen TV's
Re:Superlite: A Faster Alternatie to Superpowers on Monday October 19, 2026 @02:47AM (#50149140)
I've been using Compound Engineering by Every for a long time now. I like the brainstorm and plan features. Similarly I like the /grill-me skill by Matt Pocock. As a mediocre programmer, they help me get my ideas refined, documented and implemented.

I have found most of the other skills to emulate an 'enterprisy' way of developing, having everything checked multiple time by 'councils' and whatnot, making things slow, vacuum tokens like mad and the whole process reeks of cargo culting.

And given that Musk is now the biggest donor to republicans in the midterms, the dems probably don’t stand a chance. Again. So bad news for ukraine and the rest of the world.
Re:Thunderbird for iOS on Tuesday October 13, 2026 @12:36PM (#50074546)
That thread is both hilarious and sad. Incredible that nobody has forked the project simply to implement a working search.
Indeed, most of my server's 'Chinese' and 'Russian' bot traffic is originating from US IP addresses.
Activate the failover datacenters in orbit :)
Re:My personal AI agent posted my bank details on company Slack on Saturday October 10, 2026 @02:01PM (#50035444)
Well that’s one way for people to never trust XMTP labs, if the CEO is this dumb and reckless with PII.
I REALLY need new seasons of 'Silicon Valley'
Here we go again
Re:Creatine uptake enhances antitumor immunity on Thursday September 24, 2026 @03:19PM (#49835587)
For me, just creatine doesn’t seem to do a whole lot. But heavy workouts (with or without creatine), energize me enormously.
Effectively this is an attack on an American company’s infrastructure?
>It has been going for 11 years, moved two times and doesn't show any signs of going out.

I replaced my AEG washing machine last year after ±10 years of service. The new one, also roughly 200 euro, uses a fraction of the energy, and cleans better. I should have swapped it out way earlier to save money.

Re:I can't stop thinking about Papua New Guinea on Wednesday September 16, 2026 @04:04PM (#49732212)
Thank you so much for sharing! And yes, I would read the book as well :)
Re:iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27 on Tuesday September 15, 2026 @05:25AM (#49709887)
but does it still take up the 35GB?
It’s probably the influence of the current American administration, but I find all these AI weapons projects and startups so unbelievably uninspiring. Same with the fighting robots. We finally have a somewhat intelligent AI and we’re not advancing our healthcare, personal care, environmental problems, speeding up construction, finding new materials, etc.

The first one that gets to AGI will make the world worse instead of better. Depressing.

Re:iPhone Duo on Thursday September 10, 2026 @01:55AM (#49638971)
Exactly, most Chinese/Eastern brands already standardised on the passport form factor, which is also why Apple chose it I guess. It has aspect ratio benefits.
Re:iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max on Thursday September 10, 2026 @01:53AM (#49638950)
Maybe, but I would argue the Vision Pro is a devkit.
Re:iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max on Wednesday September 09, 2026 @03:27PM (#49632725)
Golden HN rule: the more complaints, the more successful the product will turn out because normal people like it. It’s like the inverse Cramer.
Re:Apple Watch Ultra 4 on Wednesday September 09, 2026 @03:14PM (#49632494)
When the patent trolls die down and accuracy improves.
Re:iPhone Duo on Wednesday September 09, 2026 @03:12PM (#49632449)
All folding phones will converge to this.
