Re:Ask HN: Why nobody competes with Adobe? on Tuesday March 27, 2018 @10:13PM (#16694667)
Was looking for this. I don’t think competition comes as a 100% feature complete alternative but rather as a splintering into more specialized tools.
Pretty much. They’ll take money wherever they can predictably get it. They’re not deep into crypto for the same reason they’re not deep into horse racing.
Good summary. There’s also the accusation that a lot/most of those tethers were not paid for at all and simply minted and used to purchase Bitcoin.
Re:Remote Root in DirectTV's Wireless Video Bridge on Wednesday December 13, 2017 @12:39PM (#15915795)
I don’t think DirecTV is deploying these any more in favor of the gen 2 Genie that has wireless built into the main receiver. Not sure how inclined they’ll be to push a fix
Re:For Better Cell Signal, Buy the A1865 Model of the iPhone X on Thursday October 26, 2017 @11:47PM (#15565572)
Pretty sure. Their suggestion for those with the "inferior" chipset is to buy a crappy femtocell that probably has a qualcomm chip in it.
Musk has said on a few occassions that he can achieve full automony on a Tesla with no LIDAR setup. I think instead they use a front-facing radar and a bunch of cameras. Maybe IR?. Levandowski strongly disagrees and sees LIDAR as critical to reliably mapping the environment. This all came up when that guy drove into the side of a trailer in a Tesla.
It’s very relevant for the older demographics that they serve. That same demographic also votes at a higher rate than the general population.
For the curious the question starts at around 54:00 with the laughing at 56:45
I’ve read similar complaints in stories that claimed to have talked to "influencers"
I have to believe it’s heavily skewed with older huge grants to higher ups

Pretty sure you’re not finding a new engine for a BMW 5 series for $4000 and that’s a cheaper car than Tesla S/X
Re:New Game of Thrones episode appears in the wild on Friday August 04, 2017 @01:46PM (#14930472)
Game of Thrones is based on a book. Some people care more about story development than video resolution.
Re:iOS and MacOS Developers Can Now Respond to Reviews on Tuesday January 24, 2017 @07:32PM (#13477259)
Yeah I’m pretty sure you’d have to use private APIs to be able to fake reviews using the new controller. They’d probably ban your developer account if you tried this. Don’t think it would be worth it.
New cpus will support LPDDR4 which is available in larger capacities. No trade off
Re:Larry Page is pouring millions into flying cars on Friday December 30, 2016 @03:38PM (#13287235)
I’d guess speed and prop redundancy
I think that only happens when your swap file takes up all available space on your drive
Re:MacOS Sierra on Tuesday September 20, 2016 @06:35PM (#12543972)
Was sad to see that karabiner no longer works. I discovered that bettertouchtool can substitute for my purposes (adding media keys to a dasKeyboard)
Samsung SDI is their battery manufacturing subsidiary. ATL is Amperex Technology Limited, a Chinese battery manufacturer.
It's an issue with batteries manufactured by Samsung SDI. Hong Kong Note 7's have batteries from ATL and are not subject to the recall
Re:Building Soundcloud's iOS App; in-depth retrospective on Wednesday August 17, 2016 @05:54PM (#12308780)
Great write up. Any news on Chromecast support in the iOS app? Android app has had it for a while.
Re:Google faces Russia Android probe after Yandex protest on Wednesday February 18, 2015 @12:47PM (#9069825)
While the GoogleCast API’s are part of Play services, the rest isn’t true. Communication between a GoogleCast device and your phone takes place mostly locally.
