Re:Our decision on Cursor following its acquisition by SpaceX on Saturday August 29, 2026 @10:47AM (#49490360)
I'm on the $20 plan too and the only time I run over is if I'm using Opus (or probably other third-party models). Grok and Composer seem nearly free at this point. Cursor also gave me a $100 credit for Grok after 81% of my usage was on TP models. I don't think Grok 4.6 is quite at the level of Opus 5, but it's close and so much faster (and less chatty).
Re:OnePlus halts operations in USA and Europe on Thursday July 16, 2026 @07:41AM (#48933168)
Yep, I went from a OP7T to P6Pro and it did not feel like an upgrade. I still miss the macro camera.
Re:The weird, wild story of humanity's obsession with gold on Wednesday May 20, 2026 @08:16AM (#48206473)
I'm gen-x too (56) and remember wild used heavily in the mid to late 80s. Wild to hear it used so liberally once again!
I'm sure it has absolutely nothing to do with the NFL/x partnership
An artist (illustrator) friend sent me this link (NSFW) of another artist detailing his process of using img2img to stylize/enhance his illustrations: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/yDb1ax

Cheesecake content aside, I love seeing AI image generation used as an aid to an artist rather than replacing the artist.

Me neither, it just worked in chrome on my pixel 6. And in Brave it doesn't work and does not ask for permission. Both still ask for permission for using geolocation API.
This is great, but I didn't realize that was a video at the top of the page; I think it needs the 'muted' attribute for it to autoplay.
Re:The Evolution of Camera Phones, Visualized on Thursday August 25, 2022 @09:37AM (#32593540)
Well, the Pixels are there (at the bottom) but really should have included the Nexus line too. Anyway, they are simulated photos, so they are of little value.
Re:The importance of having a personal domain name on Monday February 28, 2022 @07:47PM (#30507549)
I initially set up my email on my domain as [email protected]. I don't really remember why, but it was a really stupid idea as it's so hard to explain to people. "It's me at mydomainname.com. Well, no, not my first name, it's emmm eee at..."
Re:Ask HN: What is the oldest, still supported OS? on Monday February 28, 2022 @07:41PM (#30507482)
I really, really wanted one of those 64-bit alphas to use for Lightwave 3D in the 90s!
Ok, after trying incognito, I do like it, but I'm not ready to switch my default from DDG yet. Maybe on the non-incognito chrome results page you could include a note that your search can be tested from incognito along with the prompt to install the extension?
Re:An Omega-3 that’s poison for cancer tumors on Monday June 14, 2021 @08:06AM (#27501605)
I found this comment too late... Already ordered a "kids" supplement that has a 2:1 ratio of DHA:EPA.

And Tempest too - just isn't the same without the dial/paddle!
Re:How Fish and Chips Migrated to Great Britain on Sunday October 21, 2018 @10:52AM (#18268239)
And the majority of sushi has been frozen, killing any parasites. If the fish has not been frozen, there is still a risk from parasites.
Re:Google Chromecast and Google Home Causes Wi-Fi Drops on Monday January 15, 2018 @03:27PM (#16153125)
Well, I'm somewhat relieved to read that, in that I purchased one for the same reason but have been rebooting it at least once a day for a while now. I was initially relieved to see it may have been the Chromecast. Now I suppose it's both!
Re:How to shoot on iPhone 7 on Friday May 12, 2017 @09:42AM (#14323863)
I've got a Pixel too, definitely a better camera than an iPhone 7, but not 7+.
Re:How to shoot on iPhone 7 on Friday May 12, 2017 @09:25AM (#14323743)
Thanks, didn't know I could do this on my Pixel. AE/AF lock is nice too.
Cost is not the only factor leading users to Android. And cost certainly isn't driving users to Google's Pixel phones - they are priced similarly to iPhones.

May be only one facet, but "straight edge": https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Straight_edge

I mostly remember the militant (and distinctly not positive) NYHC variant trickling down to Birmingham and Atlanta scenes in the late 80s.

Re:Club Penguin is shutting down on Tuesday January 31, 2017 @03:37PM (#13534957)
He's been playing for 5 years now, so he's a mod on a few servers. He started out building simple things, then progressed to wiremod within a couple of weeks. It wasn't long before I couldn't keep up with him when I tried to check out what he was building. He used to build cars/vehicles (mostly from scratch, not using car models) and add them to the workshop, think he has a couple dozen in there. Now he mostly camps on servers and chats with friends (online friends), warns and kicks players when he gets reports, that sort of thing.
Re:Club Penguin is shutting down on Tuesday January 31, 2017 @03:29PM (#13534886)
Well, funny thing... I really didn't play it much online, so I didn't even realize he was playing on servers for a while. He was 10ish when he started (15 now). When I started looking over his shoulder, I was shocked at some of the other players behavior! I once intervened and took control of the keyboard to scold another player who kept holding him up and taking his cars, money, etc. Turns out it was a role playing server... the other player was his friend, playing a criminal. I kind of left him alone after that!

My son used to love CP, played off and on until I introduced him to Garry's Mod.
Re:Typing Practice for Programmers on Sunday January 29, 2017 @08:37PM (#13518030)
Mistakes derail me much more when I'm sharing my screen or pairing. Once I make one, my confidence is somewhat shaken and I spend an inordinate amount of time on accuracy rather than the task at hand. Stupid, I know.
Re:Typing Practice for Programmers on Sunday January 29, 2017 @07:10PM (#13517673)
Agreed,if the bottleneck is CPM/WPM ,you probably need better tooling in the form of scaffolding/boilerplate. But for those who can't touch type this could reduce the cognitive load of hunting-pecking. I need something like this (or typing.io) that will let me configure auto-complete so that it matches Sublime.
Re:Typing Practice for Programmers on Sunday January 29, 2017 @07:04PM (#13517650)
I built a Planck, and as much as I appreciate the ortholinear layout, I'm having a hard time finding/configuring a keymap that has the necessary symbols somewhere that feels intuitive. I'll spend a couple hours acclimating to a keymap on typing.io, but if I need to an ANSI staggered KB, even for a couple hours, it seems to wipe my muscle memory. Guess I need to buy another Planck!
Yohimbine is a horrible experience. Used clinically to induce anxiety attacks, and does so very well.
Re:Ask HN: Who is hiring? (December 2016) on Thursday December 01, 2016 @06:39PM (#13084661)
Not a big deal (as there aren't many listings for Birmingham, AL) but it looks like many are UK rather than US based.
My daily driver is an 06 mini Cooper S (6 speed), but my weekend car is my old e30. My son will be 16 next May. I've offered him the mini, but he wants the e30. I don't know if I can let go of it!
