And think about it.. Because they're so large, Index funds are buying at most 1 year after going public.

The average investor has been lulled into feeling the index is riskless.

I suggest everyone to find a video online by their choice of podcaster interviewing Mike Green to learn more

Completely agree, but I don't see how much _value_ these new users will get out of it..

Businesses are extracting value now - for the average user I see it as a convenience that they will pick the cheapest provider for..

It's a race to the bottom for most as there's not a major differentiator.

I think that even worse is that AI might choose just to write something, and skip using a library that is well maintained
Re:What's Getting Pwned on Thursday October 22, 2026 @11:01AM (#50196358)
This may be a side conversation, but wondered how far away we are to a small LLM being prompted to turn itself into a worm that uses all exploits it knows, and prompts other LLM's when it has access.

What do they do with the brine when they fill it back up with oil?

And do they use fresh water?

Re:The Human Cost of DOGE's War on USAID on Monday July 13, 2026 @02:57PM (#48897153)
Yes.. Add the term transgender and obviously it needs to go.

I don't know the specifics, but i'm sure it's like canceling (and calling) a hospital in a small town a trans clinic because they happen to have a trans patient

I don't know th- AAAAHHHH
So authoritative!

You had me for a second :)

Re:Google Broke Its Promise to Me. Now ICE Has My Data on Wednesday April 15, 2026 @03:56PM (#47784389)
Being trans, I feel this so much.

On a side note, it was interesting after Trump was elected where some of my co-workers wanted to use old pronouns after some laws changed _in meetings_ and I realized the only thing stopping them was the awkwardness it would have been for _them_ in that situation

They're using the analogy of mining for gold. the cost of a shovel/pitchfork goes up when the price of gold goes down - which is a double whammy
Re:Filing the Corners Off MacBooks on Friday April 10, 2026 @07:57PM (#47725500)
It's by design.
Re:Can I Run AI locally? on Friday March 13, 2026 @09:56PM (#47372511)
use openrouter, and call it a day. auto switching between providers, connectivity to all clouds and even works with free models
Re:US banks' exposure to private credit hits $300B (2025) on Thursday March 12, 2026 @12:22PM (#47353221)
I don't see it as adding fuel to the fire. I see it as helping the market price companies correctly
Re:Dr. Oz pushes AI avatars as a fix for rural health care on Saturday February 14, 2026 @02:03PM (#47017267)
So we get so worked up over this stuff, and for good reason. But personally I'm taking another stance...

let them..

It's not my choice to make someone understand what's best for an individual or as a group. Let them make these decisions, and learn for themselves. Will this cause issues where I am at risk of getting measles? Or that kids could get sick over non pasteurized milk? yes, but we're back in a place where people have to feel the pain.

That's not to judge, or belittle or put anyone down. There's people who have views and values that conflict and that's OK.. Even if it's not the best for us a whole.

Re:Vim 9.2 Released on Saturday February 14, 2026 @01:57PM (#47017221)
I'm right there with you, and to be honest Lua just works. I helped with Neovim when it started ~10 years ago, and didn't understand the big deal about implementing lua.. But now that it's here, I can't believe it wasn't forked and implemented sooner
Re:Vim 9.2 Released on Saturday February 14, 2026 @01:53PM (#47017196)
Totally worth it. I tied it to openrouter.ai so that I could use 'all the AI's' (TM)

Totally worth it

Re:Hard Rust requirements from May onward for all Debian ports on Saturday November 01, 2025 @11:15AM (#45782300)
While I get your view, I think examples would help to move the conversation along in a more constructive manner

I'm curious what your suggest mmap pragma would be.
Re:ADS-B Exposed on Tuesday October 14, 2025 @01:02PM (#45582361)
what's going on around colorado springs with these shapes?

https://adsb.exposed/?dataset=Planes&zoom=9&lat=38.2165&lng=...

I don't quite understand what happened other than "deported by ICE".
Re:What makes Claude Code so damn good on Saturday August 23, 2025 @11:00PM (#45000945)
I have thought the same thing. How is it created? is it an idea by an LLM to make the language, or a dev to create a language designed for an llm.

How do we get the LLM to gain knowledge on this new language that we have no example usage of?

Re:Margin Debt Surges 9.5% in June to Record High on Friday August 22, 2025 @08:15AM (#44983579)
you're right, but it brings up an even bigger question in my mind -

If farms where wiped out we a huge percentage of the population would no longer exist, yet they 100% are a commodity with low margins.

We don't value things based on long term risk/need

They have a chat feature allowing you to talk with multiple models
I've been using openrouter.ai to use "all llm's". No subscription, and can be tied to your editor of choice
Can you explain?

s/criminalized/supressed/ and message still holds true. You can still say the exact same things on a different forum.

It's not to get into a network, it's just to list where they're at.. For points. Similar to internet points :). There's no hacking involved just nerds being nerds

What you find shows up here: https://wigle.net/

As you can see there's quite a few people who do it

Re:Cool but Obscure X11 Apps on Thursday July 13, 2023 @11:30AM (#36710777)
I'm sad that xsnow doesn't work on modern environments. Having Snow fall on top of windows was really cool
I'm right there with you, as long as that 300 mbps connection is symmetrical, and the ISP is carrier neutral. I didn't know how big a deal neutrality was until I switched from Suddenlink to a small company called Vexus. Gigabytes of nightly backups went from hours to 5 minutes, and downloads from certain companies improved drastically.
Re:Vim Galore: everything you need to know about Vim on Friday January 28, 2022 @12:21PM (#30117585)
It depends on how much you use it. Being able to open multiple files, visually diff from a VCS, and find/replace in all open buffers is quite handy if you're in the CLI quite a lot
