Re:No Signs of AI Payoff Outside the Tech Sector on Saturday October 24, 2026 @09:04PM (#50227159)
If her company has any brains, they'll tell her to stick to her job and not waste time on untested software developed by somebody who has no clue what they are doing.
Re:Only 2.6% of the most visited websites have fully valid HTML on Wednesday August 12, 2026 @10:53AM (#49273354)
Legit who cares? It's not stopping people from visiting them
how does it compare to macklin71?
Re:What it feels like to work with Mythos on Tuesday June 09, 2026 @03:31PM (#48466443)
We see the same thing when new laptops are announced and every employee all of a sudden needs to upgrade, despite the fact that 90% of people would be able to make do with a Macbook Neo.
Re:Elevated errors on Claude.ai, API, Claude Code on Wednesday April 15, 2026 @10:47AM (#47779794)
I've found my brain is a good alternative.
Re:We've raised $17M to build what comes after Git on Friday April 10, 2026 @02:24PM (#47721839)
Yep, something that is sadly becoming more and more common. People with solutions spending insane money trying to convince others that a problem exists.
Re:Is anybody else bored of talking about AI? on Tuesday March 24, 2026 @04:46PM (#47508991)
100% this; GitHub is littered with a bunch of AI shit projects that pollute the trending page.
Re:Ask HN: Is Claude Down Again? on Wednesday March 11, 2026 @11:59AM (#47337318)
Time for all of the cosplaying developers to sit around and twiddle their thumbs.
This coming from the same group of morons crying election fraud without an ounce of proof is amazing.
The README was AI generated, that's why.
Re:Apple introduces the new iPad Air, powered by M4 on Monday March 02, 2026 @12:55PM (#47221507)
ok
Re:OBS Studio 32.1.0 Beta 1 available on Thursday January 15, 2026 @11:17AM (#46634793)
OBS is a great solution if you're on a budget or doing very simple streams, but I really urge anybody who is serious about live streaming professional shows to check out vMix. It's an incredible piece of software that is versatile and packed full of so many features professional broadcasts need all baked in.
wtf are we doing, man?
Re:I Wasted 8 Years of My Life in Crypto on Monday December 08, 2025 @10:59AM (#46193826)
100%.

It's similar to AI... the only people trying to tell you "it's the future" are those with financial stakes.

Crazy that people really need instructions on how to self-host stuff these days... this stuff used to be something most devs could figure out.
Re:Django 6.0 beta 1 released on Thursday October 23, 2025 @05:20PM (#45687336)
I noticed this in development mode but performance improved substantially in production
Re:What I Self Host on Tuesday October 21, 2025 @12:25PM (#45657735)
You seem to be an extreme outlier and probably not the target audience for such applications. No offense, but nobody is carrying around multiple devices when the one device we all have can do everything and do it better.
Re:Hyperflask – Full stack Flask and Htmx framework on Thursday October 16, 2025 @12:50PM (#45607709)
It's a dead end for your use case, let's be very clear about that.

And it's funny that you think anything about React and/or Vue is 'trivial'.

Re:Are We Decentralized Yet? on Saturday August 30, 2025 @07:37PM (#45078972)
Everything you listed IS centralized, though.
Re:Go is still not good on Friday August 22, 2025 @01:30PM (#44987252)
I find Go's type system to be extremely lackluster.
Re:Go is still not good on Friday August 22, 2025 @12:24PM (#44986466)
This is a diabolical take
Hate it all you want, but it's the sole reason Counter-Strike still exists today. Without skins, Valve would have shut the door on the game (and quite possibly the company entirely).

Skins is literally a money printing machine.

Re:Phoenix 1.8.0 Released on Tuesday August 05, 2025 @07:57PM (#44806009)
Congrats to Chris and the team... truly the best and most fun framework there is!
Re:Happy 20th Birthday, Django on Monday July 14, 2025 @01:15PM (#44562685)
I think Phoenix is very close to Django at fitting that bill.
Re:Phoenix.new – The Remote AI Runtime for Phoenix on Friday June 20, 2025 @05:12PM (#44332142)
This is such a weird thing to say and I see it all of the time. It sucks people have been tricked into thinking a library must be updated every 2 weeks in order to still be relevant.

You think just because an author bumps the version number of a library it's somehow better than a library that is considered complete?

It boggles my mind that people actually think this way.

Re:Phoenix 1.8.0-RC Released on Friday April 11, 2025 @11:13AM (#43654746)
This is awesome... congrats to the Phoenix team!

Ever since going all-in on Phoenix/Elixir, I've been so much happier and excited to code.

Coming from Go where it felt like my soul was being drained every single day, it was a major step forward for me to actually enjoy writing code again.

Re:A 10x Faster TypeScript on Tuesday March 11, 2025 @12:44PM (#43334343)
It absolutely is... Go's type system is an abomination.
Re:Patterns for Building Realtime Features on Monday February 10, 2025 @05:55PM (#43006369)
I have not enjoyed a language and framework like I'm enjoying Elixir and Phoenix! It has become my stack for just about everything.
Re:Building a World of Warcraft Server in Elixir: 2024 Update on Wednesday January 01, 2025 @09:41PM (#42571124)
I love this and would love to contribute to this in 2025!
Re:Bitcoin miner purchases 112-megawatt North Texas wind farm on Sunday December 08, 2024 @03:19PM (#42360061)
I don't understand why Texans get so insecure when people rightfully point out the issues with their infrastructure.
