Re:Gemini 2.5 on Tuesday March 25, 2025 @05:40PM (#43476314)
Generated 1000 lines of turn based combat with shop, skills, stats, elements, enemy types, etc. with this one
Re:Stoop Coffee: A simple idea transformed my neighborhood on Tuesday March 25, 2025 @04:13PM (#43475404)
Would still benefit from eventually moving the initial meetup group to a green space, especially if there can be a community garden to work on (yes I realize we are re-inventing the wheel of a village)
Re:4o Image Generation on Tuesday March 25, 2025 @04:04PM (#43475302)
I would love to see advancement in the pixel art space, specifying 64x64 pixels and attempting to make game-ready pixel art and even animations, or even taking a reference image and creating a 64x64 version
Re:OpenAI Audio Models on Thursday March 20, 2025 @04:30PM (#43428544)
It seems to start out strong, but then starts loudly talking by the end, do you know why it loses focus?

edit: I actually got it to stay whispering by also putting (soft whispering voice) before the second paragraph

Re:OpenAI Audio Models on Thursday March 20, 2025 @03:04PM (#43427553)
Does whispering work? I could not get it to work when I tried it
I have never seen knowledge to be the limiting factor in success in the 3D world, its usually lots of dedicated time to model, rig, and animate
Re:Gemini Robotics brings AI into the physical world on Thursday March 20, 2025 @09:52AM (#43423432)
there is a security risk for having to pay for a service to wash my clothes, I would prefer no human interaction
Re:Nvidia released Isaac GR00T N1 under Apache 2 license on Wednesday March 19, 2025 @03:35PM (#43416396)
Google Gemini never open sourced their robotics model from a couple days ago, hopefully this will push them
Re:The Lost Art of Research as Leisure on Wednesday March 19, 2025 @03:32PM (#43416363)
Reading Wikipedia can easily become research
Re:The School Car Pickup Line Is a National Embarrassment on Friday March 14, 2025 @01:59PM (#43365282)
Putting so much emphasis on cars, and being in cars is a national embarrassment
Re:Gemini Robotics brings AI into the physical world on Thursday March 13, 2025 @11:35AM (#43354382)
I dont see why a Gemini robot couldn't grab 20 dark clothing items from a hamper, put them in the laundry machine, wait an hour, take them out and put them in the dryer while I was at work (thanks return to office)
The same approach could be used in life
The company Intuitive Machines first and second moon-landers both tipped over, hopefully the third does not tip over
Re: on Wednesday March 05, 2025 @03:02PM (#43271564)
Ok sorry I thought maybe there was a chance that the decomp project could edited in a way that would create a ROM that allowed RL to be done easier, but it seems like it just came in handy for looking up values along with the GB ASM tutorial, the alternative of my thought process is re-creating pokemon red in a modern language which you also mentioned
Re: on Wednesday March 05, 2025 @02:26PM (#43271070)
Could you have used the decompilations of pokemon on github? https://github.com/pret/pokered
Re: on Wednesday March 05, 2025 @02:21PM (#43271011)
Claude 3.7 recently failed to finish Pokemon after getting stuck in a corner and deciding it was impossible to get out
Why the focus on speech-to-text and not purely on radar and predicting 3D movement or at least shutting down in 3D space a runway that is occupied?
need a sense of scale in that video
Games like Mario, Pokemon, etc. succeed because they have large teams of people making a large world, most individual game devs try to re-make these games and are very overwhelmed trying to create large worlds that hundreds of people worked on together
Godot game engine has been good to me, I have not made any original games but I have copied some games with a high skill ceiling, it is very important to have a high skill ceiling because otherwise it feels aimless, games like Advance Wars or Mega Man Battle Network have high skill ceilings but are not too difficult to create in 2D tile systems, as soon as you get into scaling the game with more units, more power ups, etc. then it starts to really feel like it has an aim to become stronger not just a cool thing to look at for 5 minutes
Re:EA Open Sources Command and Conquer: Red Alert on Thursday February 27, 2025 @03:27PM (#43198098)
We had to wait for a team of github users to reverse engineer Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time before Nintendo would do anything about it
Re:Show HN: LLM plays Pokémon (open sourced) on Wednesday February 26, 2025 @04:48PM (#43188617)
Honestly Claude 3.7 can make a pokemon game in pygame fairly easily, at that point it would have a lot more control over it
why do we continue to discount solar and batteries for home use?
Was really hoping we could get flash games back with AI
I have had an idea like this but instead it is a few minutes of breathing exercises with a calm nature background, then it unlocks your other apps
do you need a robot to work in your house 24/7?

Re:An Infinitely Large Napkin [pdf] on Thursday February 13, 2025 @09:39AM (#43036255)
Is Github becoming the best place to host pdfs nowadays?
