I wonder if they take into account the fact that if there are no bus routes (or less of them) there is a certain population of people that won't be able to work, and those worker pay taxes and put money back into the economy. Probably impossible to know what the effect is in total and I wouldn't be surprised if its not part of the TCO formula.
SAME, what the heck. I know there's one in GUAM of all places...
As far as Linux phones go there's not many options left and so they're still on the table. If they'd have just came out and said "Sorry, we tied up all the preorder money, and the delays put us between a rock and a hard place." I'd have more respect for it but they responded to Louis Rossman's video in the weirdest way I could imagine and that _really_ turned me off from buying a device from them.
> I developed a few apps for Ubuntu Touch, but it's always very far behind Ubuntu. They are about to release 24.04.
That's actually interesting and good to know. Last I looked at Ubuntu Touch they were so far behind I assumed they weren't active. I didn't realize they just lag a lot.
You're not the only one Louis Rossman has a video about this very topic that I saw when I was considering placing an order.
You make it sound great to be honest (I'm sure its not though.)
How have you survived without income?
I keep my iPhone until it is no longer usable (Fingerprint sensor on my iPhone 6 eventually stopped working, my iPhone X had the battery swell up and bend the case) when this happens and I need a new phone, My wife gets whatever the latest one is and I take her old one (yes, my current iPhone 11 pro is rose gold... I don't care, slap a case on it.)
I give 0 shits about my phone, I actually loathe that I need one at all.
> the consulting firms submit multiple applications for multiple candidates to get one candidate in.
Glad to hear that's still the case!
This looks pretty cool, I'll take a closer look at this one, thanks!
Thanks, I'll take a look at this one too.
Another commenter mentioned this and it look promising, thanks!
Looks pretty cool, this might be the ticket. Thanks!
What are some good Open Source / Self Hosted alternatives to Apple Photos (Desktop)?
I pretty much keep my Mac Mini around solely to import photos from our phones, free up space on the phone, and backup the Photos DB. We like to go back and look at old photos from time to time too, and the feature that shows them on a map is a big one for us.
Last time I looked (pre-COVID) there wasn't a lot of promising options, and some didn't support HEIF images
I had a weird issue with at least one photo in Apple Photos recently (possibly more that I haven't found) where the photos app showed the image, but I couldn't export it - like it was only a preview. I've upgraded my photos database over many release so I don't know if that's a part of it, the photo in question was from 2018 or so
What if that OEM stops giving them patches?
Also, if they're asking an OEM to release the patches, why can't they become an OEM to do that?
I don't think that worked out too well for Beanie babies though :/
> It’s a modern language with types and tooling and package management.
Last I used Php (v4 to v8), it had type hinting, which was fine but I think its going to become harder for newcomers to approach as there stronger and stronger types, which is what made Php so special to begin with IMHO.
That is fair, they do a good job of warning you up front about it IMHO.
Pine has an attention problem, they produce a lot of different things but the ones that people really wanted like the PinePhone Pro just were never there, with they'd have just doubled down on something and made that REALLY good first.
I preordered the Pinebook, it was never really awesome but it was neat, I accidentally broke the screen and was never able to get a replacement (at least from the store - they were always sold out.) Turned into ewaste.
PinePhone Pro wasn't too good either, I really tried but had lots of flaky issues with basic phone functionality, eventually gave it away to a friend. It's collecting dust for sure and will eventually be more ewaste.
> Free Forever.
Why do companies keep doing this, we know it doesn't really mean "Forever" why even say it?
> MariaDB launched SkySQL in 2020, giving customers a cloud-based way to use its open source database
Well, they didn't have very good marketing, I had no idea this was ever a thing.
> just look for specific programs using a lot of CPU via their command-line and program name from the hypervisor.
They would have to run this from within the guest, no? I don't like the thought of that.
> Operate Android Device on FreeBSD
Can you clarify by what this means? Does that mean running Android in an emulator or something else? Thanks
Having lived in places were mosquitos thrive, I 100% agree with you.
I keep bottles and sachets of OFF's DEEP WOODS DEET fueled repellant in my car, book bags, its a must-have.
I've used SQLx for a couple of projects (MariaDB and SQLite) its good, it does the thing though it takes a little bit of getting used to. The fact that it can check queries at compile time is its biggest strength.
